Tormenta's expression dropped into a frown as the man failed to answer him. "I'll take that as a no, then. In that case, I will go out and search once more. Anji's outside - try not to let him get into too much trouble." He nodded his head to Alm and Tadashi, then made his way back outside the building, where he addressed Anji, who was now sitting on the ground, leaning against the building. "I'm going to go find a third person to join us, you stay here. Almarech is inside, you know."

The vampire gave a hollow smile, then went back the way he came, towards the city centre.

Alm hadn't meant for Tormenta to be ignored, but was in a state of deep thought. He had been wanting to get a better feel for Gaia, and what better way than to explore than to just travel aimlessly...this time he wouldn't go on foot, though. He stepped outside and began a chant, "Fearsome creatures across the land, appear now at my command! Argas!" A swirling mist of light would appear before Almarech and within seconds dissipate, leaving only a rhinoceros in its stead.

Alm patted the huge beast's neck, "Good to see you again, Argas," he propped himself upon Argas' back and mentally told the beast to head towards the city center.

Back from the City Center, where the craziest thing had just happened.

...well, not the craziest. There had been some pretty weird things floating around from time to time in this bizarre excuse for a city.

However, James went towards his van, parked on the side of the street, and got ready to patch himself up.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 03, 2007 12:27 am

He opened the back of the van, climbed in, and shut the doors behind him. A little privacy, please.

There was a row of lockers on the left side; one that he opened up and hung up his coat in before opening a smaller one on a set of shelves and taking out a first aid kit. He sat down on the bench mounted along the wall and popped it open. All he had was a cut. It hurt, but it was just a flesh wound that would be a bit tender for a while.

First a disinfectant on the wound, then a set of adhesive strips to suture the wound, and then a bandage under his sleeve.

Good as new... ... ...like hell. That guy was sure as hell going to get his nose broken if James saw him again.

"What the ********!?" He punched the locker; leaving a slight dent, but mainly just bruising his knuckles.

Man + Coat - Van = His current situation.

He was more or less patched up. His coat had seen better days, though.

However, something was telling him he shouldn't call it a night just yet.

Enter your friendly, generic healer/support character, Ulfdisa Frior, who was approaching the door to the institute looking a bit unsure of herself. One moment she would glance down at the shiny object in her hand and the next she'd look up at the door. It looked like any ordinary marble to her and she couldn't see why anyone would be interested in something like it, but people had stranger interests.

So there she was... marble in hand... walking towards the door... and a dude in a suspicious looking trench coat outside a suspicious looking van.

Suspicious he seemed. Suspicious he dressed. Suspicious he was... it was just as simple as that.

Leaning on the bumper of the van parked very close to the door, he watched the generic friendly person approach the generic closed door to the generic office of magical doodads.

And, like any suspicious character, he felt the need to pry.

"Sparkly, innit?"

Ulfdisa had had no prior intention of addressing the suspicious looking man, but he had addressed her and common courtesy required her to return the favor right after looking around to make sure he actually was addressing her.

"I suppose," came her short reply in a heavily accented voice that sounded like it came from one of those European countries that all sound the same.

Alm pulled up besides the two people talking, one of which Alm had not seen before. Alm nodded his head to the girl as a kind of hello and turned his attention to the man in the black overcoat, "Is your arm alright, boy? I tried calling out to you to offer my assistance, but you had apparently left earshot." Alm assumed this conversation with James would leave Tormenta the time to check on Anji.

"You suppose?"

He shrugged. She didn't seem like the talkative type at all, with an answer like that. He sure as hell wasn't going to push it, though... there were enough people running around here as they were, with their hidden agendas and deep-rooted secrets that keep them from ever opening up to someone they randomly meet on the street... wait, wasn't that a good thing?

"Yeah, I suppose that you could suppose that, but what does that really mean at all? What does 'suppose' mean? Shouldn't you just say that it is or it isn't? Even 'a little bit' would be an actual answer..."

High stress day. People were throwing knives and lightning at him. High stress day.

"Sure, yeah, it's kinda-a-little-bit-but-not-really. I hate to cheat you out of the deep, personal revelation that might come from finding it out for yourself, but let me spoil the ending for you, darlin'. It is sparkly. I can see 'em from here."

Some guy he passed earlier? Was he even there with that robot? James thought for a second, but didn't recall seeing him there.

"Tch, yeah. As alright as WOO- SNEAK ATTACK! can be for an arm." He rotated his shoulder a bit, letting the medical tape loosen up enough so the bandage didn't feel so constricting.

"What about you old man? You catch any flak today?"

Having been riding along with Alm, Tormenta glanced over to the side of the building from where he sat, and saw Anji resting peacefully. Giving the man and woman standing on the ground a small nod, Tormenta spoke up. "He seems to be fine, Almarech. I'm happy to leave whenever you are," he said, gulping down a mouthful of wine from a flask that was hanging on his belt.

stare <-- That's what Ulfdisa's face looked like in response to the man's response. Before being distracted by other people who she returned greeting nods to. And then there was the mention of wounds and suddenly Disa's hand darted to her pocket where she deposited the sparkly marble. She was about to go into Healer Mode.

"Are you wounded?"

Seeing as neither of them seemed to be cut up like a country ham, James could only have assumed that the girl with the sparklies was talking to him.

To which, he raised his left hand, squinched his fingers together, and said:

"An iiiiiiintsy bit."

Then, to elaborate:

"Crazy people out tonight. You'd better be careful."

Alm chuckled at the girls almost instantaneous reaction, "I can see you are in good hands, boy, and no I haven't caught any 'flak'. Lucky me."

Acknowledging Tormenta's words, Alm patted Argas into 2nd gear, travelling towards the Robotics factory at a fair speed.

Glad to be finally moving, Tormenta gave a lazy wave of the hand to the pair, then looked back to the front of the rhino, so as to see where they were headed.
