((OOC: Sorry, finding it difficult to concentrate...think lack of sleep is catching up to me))

As Lyendi pulled Eileen past, the brunette uttered a barely audible and embarrassed, "ano...gomen nasai..." She nonetheless followed after the pink haired one, and sat down for the tea. After a moment's thought, she took Sentaku (who had ended up on her shoulder) and set the Angel down, seated properly at her side. This done, she sipped her tea...and burnt her tongue. She was barely able to set it back down, as she squeaked out an "..Itai..!"

The Cleric meanwhile had been observing this awkward gathering quietly. "I believe Tadashi-sama would at this time declare that there are enough here to further the cause of Justice." He let this hang in the air as the girls and Gareth sipped tea, and while and Isoroku observed...intently.

((Whee, Italics are words spoken in Japanese. I dont' know the language well enough not to butcher it, so I won't bother trying))

"How did a barbarian like you learn the language?" Isoroku rattled off towards Eileen. Like all native speakers he was quite quick with his words, no stumbling, no pauses in his delivery. The words were snapped off almost like an order.

It seemed that was one of the things bothering him. Or at least, one of the things most bothering him about her.

Now, Gareth doesn't know much Japanese...but he has a talent for picking up rude words from other languages to supplement his curses. The word "foreigner" can be highly insulting in Japanese, so hearing it causes Gareth's head to swivel in Isoroku's direction. He narrows his eyes at the man before him until the cleric speaks, and then his attention turns to the cleric's words.

Gareth: "'Bout damn time..."

He mutters his comment into his tea cup as he takes a cautious sip...Gareth's more of a coffee person, but this tea wasn't so bad once it cooled down.

Durem: Inside SSB

The air was filled with a soothing aroma of the tea as the girls entered a sort of lobby area where tea cups were placed in a circle on the floor. Lyendi took her seat on the floor, setting the sword next to her but still holding onto the red and white marble in her hand just not as tight as before. "This ought to relax the minds of people around here.", she said giving Isoroku a quick glance then picked up her cup which was very hot then set it back down without taking a sip. She looked around the room waiting for whoever it was that would explain why they were here and the meaning of these glass spheres that they received, or at least that's what she is hoping for.

((And with this funky post...I go sleep whee ))

Eileen blinked in surprise as the words came at her. She even flinched a bit, retreating just a bit into the safety that the curtain of her bangs afforded, even as she rolled her shoulders inward reflexively. She seemed to wait a minute to see if more harsh words were headed her way, and quietly responded in Japanese as well. The words had the gaijin accent, but it was soft, like an Osakan to Japanese or a Texan to English, rather than an inverse of the infamous Engrish.

"...i am sorry if i offended, but i don't feel i deserved those words. i am an officer, and i am here to help..." there was a bit of steel to her cotton-softness, and her body seemed to almost imperceptibly lean towards Sentaku. Still, she did explain. "...i was a foreign exchange student, and became a test pilot at the gaian national guard's tokyo r&d division...ano...so...hai...i've spent half of my life in japan..." she trailed off awkwardly, as if just realizing that bragging she'd spent half her life in a place to someone who was obvious a native was just silly.

"Gaian?" he repeated to Eileen, mouthing around the strange word. He was certain that he had heard that term before. But where totally escaped his mind right now.

Tokyo certain stuck into his mind. It was hard to believe this odd person came from the great city. But, some things seemed to make sense. Such as her more or less demur personality. Obviously she knew her place before a native male.

He closed his eyes, nodding slowly as he finally took the tea up, taking a slow, long drink.

Eileen nodded. Then she blinked. "Oh." Her plain old English illuminated her surprise further. It had taken her a while, but at least she had managed to piece it together eventually. She sweatdropped once again.

"hai, gaia is the name of this world, at this time....eto...demo....gaia is also the name of this continent." She tested her tea, then took a sip. "...probably you stumbled into a Rip, because japan hasn't had samurai in almost... two hundred years...?" Her voice seemed a bit sad to relay this note.

He looked down, lowering his tea back down. His hands were placed on his thighs, hands down, and he frowned deeply as he digested the information.

He had believed something like this. On some unconscious level. It was hard to argue with the evidence before you. But seeing Hitoshi, and these strange gaijin speaking his language. There was that hope.

Now that hope was gone.

Eileen fidgeted for a while. "....ano... once i figure out how to get hoshite out of me, i could try to help you find the rip you came from..." She placed a hand behind her head and blushed a little. "i have a friend in barton who knows a lot about rips, and i've even flown through a few, ne?"
PostPosted: Sat Feb 03, 2007 12:42 am

Somehow, he believed his case was different. Why? He wasn't even quite sure. But this talk of 'rip' only sounded like part of what had occured to him.

He looked back up towards Eileen, "But then how do you know of my land?" After all, if he had come from some different land, how did this woman know about his homeland?

Eileen quietly explained what she knew. "...my friend told me there are lots of versions of gaia, and some of them have things in common, and some of them don't. i think...maybe the tokyo i know is a lot like your land?"
PostPosted: Sat Feb 03, 2007 1:04 am

Finally he just waved his arm in front of his face, dismissing all this talk of versions and rips as nonesense. It did sound crazy. Sure, he had seen Oni, things that seemed to be Kappa, and odder stuff recently. But this was beyond belief.

"But you still follow the Warrior's Code, yes?" he had picked up that she was supposed to be a soldier of some sorts. Imagine that. A woman soldier. Such a thing was preposterous. What was next, a female Daimyo? The Emporer incarnate in a cow?

Eileen nodded slowly and admitted, "I do, but sometimes it's hard for me. YĆ« and Jin (Courage and Benevolence)...ano...they're hard sometimes. ...hoshite was supposed to be my first mecha with melee capabilities. sweatdrop "

Though he was trying to pay attention to the cleric, he could still hear the conversation going on behind him in Japanese...and the word "bushido" popped out for him to hear. That explained a lot.

Gareth: So Mr. Sword and Pistol is an old-school samurai, eh?

Gareth's negative impression of Isoroku is quickly tempered by this fact.

Gareth: Poor b*#%&%...probably nowhere near home either, and surrounded by "foreign barbarians".

"Mecha?" Another odd term to him. The only word he knew that came close was a holy city of the desert dwellers. Which hardly made sense. But given this world, perhaps she really ment a city with battle capabilities.
