Okay, I don't know the history of this place, so somebody may have tried this before, but I know that in my own experiences it's helped to sorta let the players dictate the field. I've always been an advocate for the "reactive GM" style of storytelling. That way, there's not too much wasted effort. In my case it went pretty well. To start I gave them the options available for the timeline in question (most recently the NJO era) for character creation purposes. A few guidelines to keep conflicts down (like, no Yuzzhan Vong characters and the like) were presented, and then, I let the players make the first move. As a result of move#1, repricussions #1-3 occur, players act again, GM reacts again...so on so forth. The reasoning for this is that I don't have a whole lot of free time, so I didn't want to spend most of it on a story, only to have to rewrite the story due to unforseen player actions. Eventually, with the right mindset and some effort to put the peices together, a unifying theme wasn't a problem, as it kinda fell into place on its own. If this has been mentioned before, please don't slap me, as I was unaware (Newbie here...*sigh*)

I say, we make it a day and time, when the new republic is going through a great stress from the newly bound Empiral Remnent. While the sith have become strong once again, except now, they have gone back to the old republic ways, ignoring the rule of two, making a more powerful struggle to the New Republic.
Here are a few suggestions on how to pick sith and Jedi: 1.Let them send in a CS and look it over 2.After that, pm them back, saying if you like it, or don't 3.If you like it, then test them rp wise, don't set your standards to hgih, but not to low either 4.Make sure they are literate, no more ** bull s**t.
Heres the begining of that.
Example of being literate: Jaden faced the Jedi Master, anger and fury in his eyes. He could feel the dark side soothing in him, it ran deep in his veins, it was his fuel. He turned to his master and spoke in defiance, "No.....your ways wrong,". He smiled evily, lifted up his hands and fired a burst of lightening at his, once upon a time, master. End of Example
That is the kind of literacy I am talking about, no more *slashed you*.

I've been hanging around other guilds and threads, and I think I found a good idea. How about a side-quest to one of the main stories?
Here's how it would work. Basically, we choose an era. Legacy. KOTOR. Galactic Civil War.
Then we create an RP, mostly open-ended, that follows alongside the actual story with its own characters.
BASICS (Using Knights of the Old Republic as an example)
- Everyone creates their own character. They can have a relation to one of the main characters one way or another, or not, if they choose, so long as it's nothing like "Darth revan's long-lost twin sister." - We keep the RP Semi-lit at least - We develop the necesary information threads, for such like Lightsaber forms, and commonly used techniques, weapons, armor, starships, etc. - We RP free-ended, following our own characters through their story, while the actual story takes place. For example, you might have been one of the Dark Jedi under the command of Revan during the Battle of Malachor V. Some people may join together as an actual party, others won't. - The RP will still end canonically to how it ends in the actual story or game (or it may not.) There will probably be two ways for the RP to end, Dark Side and Light Side. That will be determined by the respective number of Sith and Jedi, and how they play out through the RP. - And since it's a war, we make it quite clear that some characters may be killed. Their survival depends on their RP ability and their own will to survive. Face it; if you suck at RPing, and you get owned in a duel, kiss your @$$ goodbye.
This still gives freedom to the people to pretty much do whatever they want, while still following a set objective or goal.

Sounds like a nice plan...but like all plans, are you willing to implement it? or will it fall to the wayside, to atrophy?

Yes, I would implement it, and gladly be a member-mod.
The only catch, is people would have to be willing to let their characters die. mods included. If Seph gets cornered in the corner of a Sith Temple by Darths Revan, Malak, Nihilous, Traya, he WILL get owned, and he WILL die.
Doesn't mean we can god-mod eaither. basic rules apply. It's mainly a luck thing.
I'll post my other suggestion this evening.

I'll post my other suggestion this evening. make sure that people know it's a stand alone thing...if this were to become the main RP...we might wind up with a bunch of Ran's.....and if you dont know the reference... ( http://www.bobandgeorge.com/Archive/index.php?date=030309 ) Anyway...I forgot how this relates to what I was trying to say or the point I was trying to make....unless it was that, as a main RP idea. Characters dying is usually not a 'happy' thing in forum RP's, and that if they can die, it may cause complications about people using NPC minions to kill Player Characters.

Quite frankly, i feel after two months of suggestions we are ready to create the story and get things going.
The main conflicts im seeing through suggestiions is Choosen Force users VS Self proclaimed users. Follow Storyline Vs Free Roleplay w/story. Mission based Rp Vs Do your own thing.
Coming to my own conclusoon (some wil agree and disagree) 1.Create the story (whatever it may be. Have a handful of the people that seem capable of making a story get together and do it)
2. Let the apps begin! (Unfortuanately for the sake of overall satisfaction, let the users decide if thier force sensitive. ((BUT they will be base level and must be trained.)) The advantage to picking something besides a force user grants you abilities higher than that of a padawan. Kinda like a magic user vs a Warrior in a game, in the beggining the warrior is stronger but as they progress the magic user passes the warrior.
3.Use NPC's to direct the RP through its course. ( Though not mission based, the RP should always have a general direction kept in check.) Also if any god modders get out of hand have the NPC's silence them.
4. Have Fun!! cmon folks you come on here to have fun and relax (Most of you do anyway) lets create a fun Rp and enjoy!
