"That was the point of coming here..at least that what I kept telling people," he paused glancing around. "Question is who seems like a candiate to socialize with?" He rather not have a other G'dor converstation..one fight was enough.

Celeanor
If he had been surprised by her forwardness before, this latest turn in the conversation threatened to send the reclusive bronzerider back to the comfort of his weyr. Social situations were just not his forte.
I do not mind, bring her to the bowl so I may land... I would like to see what it is the search dragons see...
Sei... I am not comfortable with this...
Why? She is a candidate and can ask from us what she wishes. She is the future and the future must be well educated.
Instead of replying right away, P'athen mulled over his dragon's words, sparing a few glances in Bethan's direction. Dragons are not supposed to think far ahead Sei... He thought with a twinge of pride, Sei had always been the sharp sort.. which had gotten the pair into a great deal of trouble as weyrlings.
Shells, just tell her yes, then ask her to dance later.
By this time P'athen had opened his mouth to say something to Bethan, but the last comment nearly made him choke. SEI!
"I'm sorry about that, of course you can meet him. I apologize in advance if he appears a bit... untraditional; we've had an interesting road."
One cue one pair of dark wings spread upward and fanned against the turnover sky, framing one set of whirling blue-green eyes.
Interesting would barely begin to describe it ridermine, I hope she is not bothered by the scars. They really do not hurt me.
Maybe there was such a thing as pushing a rider a bit too far. Bethan began to feel as if she had encroached on P’athen’s boundaries. It had been a rather presumptuous question, and a somewhat selfish one as well. But the past was the past, and she had said what she had said. Still, the silence was stretching onwards and Bethan felt herself began to shift weight uneasily from foot to foot.
“Oh, thank you so much! I don’t give a wherry’s worth about tradition, so you needn’t feel uneasy.” Excitement broiled in Bethan’s very core, and she felt like running ahead to go see the dragon before anyone else. It was like being a small child, and that was a rather guilty pleasure.
“Where should we meet him? Should I bow to him? I don’t know how to properly respect a dragon at all, I’m afraid.” Words were tumbling from her mouth now, and she grinned happily. All her wit had flown out the window to be replaced with… this. Calming herself down, Bethan tried to glance askance for a piece of glass that would show if she was presentable or not.
“You lead the way. I would, but I don’t know.” It rankled her not to know things, not to be the leader, but circumstances called for it now, and she really didn’t mind in this case. She was going to meet a dragon! And she had already met a rider. He was very nice, if somewhat shy and introverted.

N'tren continued to scratch Gem and listened to her crooning. He was still wistful about getting a little flit to accompany him where Datiath could not... But even as he thought this, he sent undying love to his bronze up on the ledge.
It would be interesting to have a little cousin around. Someone to reach the scratches you can not. Datiath replied in a soft tone. Ask the girl may I speak to her.
Opening his mouth, N'tren grinned at being called a mouse. He did his best to keep the teeth in his head white and sharp so he would not be mushing his food like some of the uncles and aunties in his father's hold.
"He had gotten quite big actually. Dattie may end up being one of the larger bronzes from the clutch. His forearm is much taller than I am though I am not that tall to begin with..."
He paused for a moment and inclined his head. Maybe I can get her to come to the heights and visit you?
As you wish, beloved. Was the reply.
"Datiath asks if he may speak with you or if you would like to come to the heights and admire his bulk. As for a mouse, small and nimble I may be, but my teeth are not as sharp." Drinking some redfruit juice, he enjoyed the breeze that began to move.

His mind decided, P'athen only nodded shortly, managing a friendly smile before his features returned to the normal stoic expression. "Sei will meet us not far from here, so as not to distrub the tents." He said quietly, almost fondly as he felt the presence of his dragon overhead.
Seidoshokuth was nothing if not a showman, and he was quite proud of his size and rugged appearence... despite the odd looks he often got from his rider for his antics. So as he passed overhead, he let loose a small goat of residual flame and backwinged to land. He was easily one of the larger bronzes in the Weyr, and with the night lit up from below by torches, his midnight bronze hide almost appeared sinister, scarred as it was by thread and metal. Coming to rest in front of his rider and the young woman, Sei trilled happily and curved his finely chiseled head down for a scratch from his bondmate.
P'athen was used to Sei's tricks, and only frowned at the bronze bafoon. "As you can see Bethan, you needn't worry about decorum with Seidoshokuth."
Ridermine! She can pay all the respect she wants.~
Ignoring the mental comment, P'athen continued without pause. "In fact, if you were to try, I would have to stop you. His ego is large enough already."

Caleten tried to imagine, she had always heard that bronzes were huge, but had not had time to actually look over a big one herself. Hearing that Datiath asked to speak with her, warmed her up to the bronze.
Thinking about, she made the mistake of wondering if she should flag down a drudge to get a little something more to eat. Before she could say anything, Gem went to action.
Gem suddenly took off, running forward and taking off into the air. She was Between a second later. Only a few more and she popped back through, dropping the biggest piece of meat she could carry. With a trill, she dropped it on Caleten.
Caleten looked up, blinking and just had enough time to catch the, thankfully, cooked meat Gem managed to snatch. Giving the gold scratches as reward, she shook her head lightly. Looking back to N'tren she says, "Its nice to hear he is growing well, would you tell him I would like to speak with him, and that I appreciate him asking." She had to think on it but finally added, "I would like to come and see him."
It couldn't be often that someone got that kind of invitation from a bronze rider. "Its not just the teeth that make the mouse." She let it slip, a small chuckle. The humor left her proud features, for the most part, when she realized what she had done.

"I'm sort of use to it," he replied looking around the crowd. He had and still was shy and skittish of so many people pressing in around them. Everyone seemed deep in some sort of converstaion. "Cruise the dance floor?"

"That sounds like a plan....at the very least people can enjoy a good laugh watching my incredible impression of a heard beast trying to dance." He joked, elbowing Khalin and grinning.

Datiath shifted from his resting spot on the ledges making his apologies to his friends. He would have to get where N'tren and the girl could come to him. When Datiath was given the okay by N'tren to bespeak to Caleten he gave another bugle.
Hello there. We have missed you.
N'tren watched as Gem disappeared and reappeared with food in her talons. Chuckling at her cleverness, he held out his hand towards Caleten. If it had been anyone else, the youth would have just grabbed her and started running. But he knew with her it was different. "I know that I am not much of a rider now and Datiath is still young. He is definately the more impressive of the two of us. But I think you will have a good time."
I will never let you fall. And you will always be welcome to see me. Datiath added in.
"Mice are a pest, especially in holds. Since I am small and squeaky and always seem to be in your way, does that make me a pest, Caleten?" This was asked in a somber, quiet tone.

A soft laugh greet the joke and he shook his head. "Come on R'ael. I'm sure you dance just fine. Or I'll be doubled over laughing at your impression of the dancing herd of herd beast judging by you bulk," he teased back and scampered towards the dance floor.

Survive Caleten looked up at the bugle again; dragons really did have impressive vocals. Even though she had expected the voice, it was still strange to have it in her mind. Concentrating, she tried to send her thoughts back to the dragon, 'Hello, Datiath' She tried not to think about her surprise at the very thought that she was missed. Of all her turns on her own, being missed was very new to her. She tried to avoid making connections anywhere so that would not happen.
That train of thought she was trying not to have was startled was broken when N'tren held out his hand to her. Resisting the urge to look at him like he had grown two more heads, she just stepped to stand by him. She would walk with him, but would not have her hand held.
Self-doubt practically danced in his words, taunting her with the idea that her opinion just might actually matter to him, what she thought might actually be important. This is where being nice came back to bite her. It was too late to keep from making connections, it seemed. Just nodding, she chose not to vocalize a responce to his self-doubt she was sure she heard.
Luckily, distractions came from Datiath. Looking towards the dragon, she found it easier to be kinder in thought then in speech, 'I believe you and N'tren will keep me safe while I am with you, Datiath. I am not worried.' It would be nice, to be a dragon not trying to kidnap her by his rider's command.
Upon hearing N'tren, she couldn't help but wonder why he seem to somber when asking. "Your voice sounds a bit like a mouse at the moment, but that hardly makes you a pest. I wouldn't stand here talking with you if I thought you were a pest, even a little one." Leave it to a guy to over think things and turn a teasing remark into an insulting one. It was his fault she felt she should not only tell him he is wrong, but give the closet thing to a compliment then she had giving a guy in a long time.
Gem herself was quite until her friend stop talking, then she trilled to Datiath, greeting the dragon.

(( Shoot, I didn't even realize this was going on. *sighs* ))
Remia sighed as she arrived at the gathering after it had already gone into full swing. She'd fallen asleep, and woke up to find that she'd slept away most of the gather day. While she needed the sleep and didn't begrudge herself the indulgence... it was a shame to miss a day of socializing.
You sleep as though you just ate a herdbeast, mine, Trith teased her gently from her place on the heights. The cheerful teen rolled her eyes, and sent an image of herself lounging like a dragon after a full meal. The two shared a warm moment just before Remia moved into the crowd.
Remia looked around, looking for people she knew. She wanted to catch up, learn how things had been going with others. As she did so, a drudge passed by with a platter of meatrolls, and she snagged a few. The smell of them had made her stomach grumble.
Her blue flit swooped down as she balanced the meatrolls in one hand, and she chuckled. "You're hungry, too, hm? Well, okay, here you go," she said, and broke off a chunk of meatroll for the whining blue. He snatched at it greedily, and sounds of happiness escaped him as he tried to eat it whole.
"Chew, Oli, chew!" Remia said, with a bit of exasperation in her tone. Here he was, almost a turn old, and he still wanted to gorge himself like a hatchling.

"Oh good! The head kitchen woman called me a pest for 3 or 4 sevendays straight before she gave in and let me work there." N'tren wiped his brow and smiled. "I just wanted to make sure that you were not staying here just to be nice or whatever."
Looking towards the heights, N'tren held out an arm in case Gem wanted a place to rest. Listening to her trill towards Datiath made him want a little creature all the more. "Perhaps, after first Threadfall I will be able to go to the beaches and sits for hours on end and hope for a flit. Not that anything or anyone would ever be able to take Datiath's place."
Meanwhile, Datiath moved himself away from the others so that he would be able to greet his rider and friend properly. He spotted Trith coming out of her weyr and gave her a welcome as well.
Good. We like having you around. Will you stay past Threadfall?
"Let's go before the dancing starts and we get caught down here. I have two left feet and no rhythm at all. Plus, too many people make me feel squished." N'tren began to weave his way through the crowd, confident that Caleten would follow. And if she got lost, Datiath would guide her.

Caleten started to tell him that she was only doing this not to stand out. However, she decided not to spoil his fun. For a male, he really wasn't half bad.
Gem liked him and took the perch his arm made for her. Caleten was still her friend, but Caleten's friends were also hers.
She nearly told him if Gem flew, and she could find the nest, she could always give him one. For many reasons she didn't, all she told him was, "Just look around rocky areas. Flits seem to like dragons so Datiath may be able to help by just being there." That wasn't how she found Gem; she wasn't even near water at the time. Then again, admitting she stole anything no matter if it was the right thing to do, was not a wise thing to do. So, she kept quite about how she managed upon the treasure of a gold flit.
To Datiath, she remarked, 'I'll probably leave after the gather, threadfall or not. This is the first time in many turns that one saw me in the same place twice. Many times, I do not come back to the same place for two or more turns.' It still confused her as to why she was back in the first place. Sure, she was kidnapped before, but this time she willingly came. Why?
Dancing, she wanted nothing of, so she was careful to stay right behind him through the crowd.

Scratching Gem's head knobs, he thought about what Caleten said about rocky places. Perhaps he would be able to sneak down the the beaches or caves before Threadfall. It sounded like a good plan... He was good at waiting for what he wanted... Well, sometimes....
Datiath moved closer and laid down with his head between his great claws. At fourteen moons old, he would soon be full-sized even if his rider wasn't... It was a running jike between the two of them.
Make sure you find cover before Thread falls. I will not have you harmed. Datiath spoke most confidently at her.
As they finally made their way through the crowds, N'tren took the steps to the ledges two at a time. "Still with me?" He called back.
