Shawna stood up besides Rose, knowing she was completely safe with her. She had never seen her father step back so easily and on one side it made her feel stupid, but on the other it was obvious; she wasn't a ninja after all.
"No, he didn't touch me this time.. Thanks to you.." she said and smiled at Rose. This was the first time ever she smiled in front of her father.

"Good. If he did...well...yeah..." Rose smiled back at Shawna. She couldn't believe this guy believed her. Although she did own plently of blades and knew how to use them, she wasn't a ninja.

Her father walked back downstairs. "Lets go away..." Shawna said quietly to Rose, because her father had demanded that. "I'll get some stuff..."

Rose nodded. "You can stay at my place. My mom suggested that incase something like this happened. She had step-fathers who were the same way. Is there any way I can help?"

"Nah.. I've got about everything I need, and all my money, which is barely anything." Shawna said bitterly. She led Rose out of her room, turned the light off, sighed once and closed the door.
"Well, lets go." She said.

Shawna's cheeks went red under her tanned skin. She loved the fact that she got kicked out of her house.
"Rose," she started quietly, "I want to thank you for that. I'd rather live on the street than stay here..."
But to indulge Rose's request to carry something, she gave her the smallest bag. Shawna didn't really care about how much she had to carry.
"You looked pretty skillful with that dagger of yours." She said, admiring Rose's skills.

Rose blushed. Everyone usually thought that her ability with her daggers was strange. "Well...I was picked on a lot back in Alabama so I learned how to defend myself. I'm not a real ninja, but I still strive to protect those I love."
Rose smiled at Shawna then noticed all that she was carrying. "Let me carry more!" She playfully jumped at Shawna, knocking them both to the ground. Rose was laughing.

Shawna laughed too. She hadn't felt so great in a long time and happily played on. Rolling around on the floor with Rose. It felt so great. As if she had needed this for years. After they had calmed down and lay besides each other on the ground, Shawna smiled.
"So you're not a real ninja? You sure look like one!" she glanced at Rose, "I think it's cool that you protect those you love.. I wish I could've...."

"I wish I could've saved my mum.." Shawna regretted it the moment she had said it. She didn't want to spoil the happiness she felt right now, but she had to talk about it. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean..." She looked up at the sky and sighed.

Shawna sighed and then smiled. She sat in Rose's lap. It felt good to be guarded rather than beaten up everytime she got near someone.
"Well.. I wish I could've stopped my dad like you did, 7 years ago. When he... When he attacked my mum..."
Tears filled her eyes, thinking back about that time.
"My dad got in a rage and attacked my mum. I still see her staring at me. Those... lifeless eyes as my dad left the room. He never knew I had been there. I hid in a cupboard, to frightened to come out.." She looked down, "I'm such a coward.." she said as a tear rolled down her cheek.

Shawna sniffed once and looked at Rose. Before she could help it she uttered: "You''re so beautiful..." and her cheeks turned bright red, though she kept looking at her.
