I asked my mom that if they ever had a Genocide rally here in Seattle or so, if I could skip school and join. She said, "Of course! And I would join you, because it's something that needs to be recognized. The two groups in history that have been persecuted the most are the Christians and Jews, and Turkey is SO backwards. We need to help get the word out, and even though we aren't Armenian, we are still Christian."

Washulove I asked my mom that if they ever had a Genocide rally here in Seattle or so, if I could skip school and join. She said, "Of course! And I would join you, because it's something that needs to be recognized. The two groups in history that have been persecuted the most are the Christians and Jews, and Turkey is SO backwards. We need to help get the word out, and even though we aren't Armenian, we are still Christian." God i wish my parents were as open minded as yours. there is no way in hell they would let me skip school to go to a rally.

Have you ever tried educating your parents? like they'll listen to me. the only time they listen to me is when they corner me and try to make me talk about things i don't want to.

I'd skip for sure. I'm not sure they'd mind. Last year, I went to a protest walk with my school (for half of the day) about the govt taking all our money for scholarships. Since it was decided at the last minute, I didn't ask them but then when I told them about it, they really didn't seem to complain.
