There IS jazz tuba! I've seen some jazz music scores with tuba parts in them. : D And there is this one Japanese oboist who plays jazz. It's pretty cool. I forgot what her name was, but there were videos somewhere on the internet.
Has anyone ever played "The Jitterbug Waltz"? I'm the pianist in a jazz band, and I need some ideas of what to do for the solo section. 0____0

darthdude14 tenor sax is the best in jazz band it holds everything together and it always gets the solos(well not always but a lot of times) you can always transpose. we did that because the alto in lower and the trumpet couldn' play there solos not like they were hard mostly ad-libbing

I play Bass In Jazz Band at my school. Our Music teacher got a better job at a high school in the next city, so we are getting a new teacther who is a trumpet expert. Our old one was a guitar expert so he helped me a lot but now i don't know if i'll do well in band because the teacher may not be able to help me crying it'll be so sad exclaim

Jazz band is like the greatest part of my day.
xd
Srsly, it's my favorite class. I play the keyboard in it, my first year actually, and while the amount of solos I have is borderline ridiculous, I kinda like the attention.
xDD

My confidence in myself is pretty nonexistant and my BD is pretty intimidating to play in front of so I wasn't thrilled at first but then I figured this might help me.

Well, not to be stuck up or n e thing... but our jazz band is the best in the state of MD. We got ridiculous amounts of music, gigs, awards, all that good stuff. we always get first in competitions.
but alas... after next year, the school will no longer be any good at jazz. we are losing our director, and our best trombone sections since 150 years ago (when the school started). Alot of our players always make All-County (including me) and/or All-State (including me...). So yea...
Any questions on skill? message me. i can help ya out (at t-bone, or jazz in general. i can name some good charts too)
