So they were finally going to get to see magic done? Ala peered curiously at Anoki as the boy spoke, scrambling to get the words written down before she forgot them. She also wrote down the representatives of the elements.

Finally, she looked up and wondered what spell the boy was performing. What was going to happen?

Ligeia probably should be writing down what it was that Anoki was saying but for the moment he seemed instead to be waiting almost on edge to see what the spell was going to do. There were items to represent all the elements and there were callings to the four directions, how interesting. He leaned forward in his seat some as if wanting to get that much closer to what was going on.

Slowly, the feeling of something happening built up to a climax. Tiny sparks of light alighted at each of the four quadrants of the circle, and one from the center. These five rays started to twist together, painting an image of light that hung just above the altar.

Then, as if they changed their minds, the collective rays of light abruptly switched directions, heading straight for Anoki. The ibex flinched, but otherwise did not move as the light engulfed him. In fact, once the initial shock was over, it was a rather pleasant feeling, as if he was being filled with energy. It was something that Raven had warned him about, which meant he could do the next part of the spell.

Raising his arms above his head, Anoki put the heels of his hands together and spread his fingers apart. It was now or never. "Fire!" he yelled. As soon as he opened his mouth, bits of light formed in his hands. Once the word was out, the light reached to the ceiling, and turned into a thin pillar of flame for several seconds, making him jerk back from recoil, and scorching a good bit of plaster. As soon as the fire disappeared he pulled his hands into his chest protectively. That was scary!

Raven, however, nodded approvingly. "An acceptable show. Can anyone tell me what just happened?"

Ala had no idea what had happened. Well, other than the fact that the boy had called forth fire. Which was rather cool, but what was up with all of the lights? She just stared towards the items, trying to think.

Ligeia watched closely the ritual as it unfolded, he'd... had he cast a spell using power he'd gathered from outside as opposed to using his own internal energies? He knew spell casting to be exhausting after a while but to be able to use outside energy... that would make things easier maybe? Though one would need to set up the same sort of ritual as had been used by Anoki.

He set to scribbling down something before looking over to the teacher, "He used outside forces for his spell? Instead of drawing on his own magics inside of him." He said out loud what he had been thinking.

That had been neat. Unable to resist the urge, and considering it only polite, Earako clapped softly after the candle was lit. It wasn't a loud sound, but it was loud enough to be heard. Otherwise, what was the point of clapping. She wanted her friend to know she thought he'd done a good job.

"He used the symbols on the alter to summon the..." She hesitated, before deciding to use the same words that Anoki himself had used, "Guardians he wanted help from. And they helped him because he asked nicely?"

She wasn't sure about that last part. But she would have helped him if he asked her nicely. Even if there weren't flowers and things involved.

Sahra had seemingly dazed off once again, eyes fluttering about, watching the other children, and only catching snippets of conversation here and there. Curse her short attention span, she was thankful that her hands almost had a mind of their own, since she had managed somehow to take down a good lot of notes, maybe she could multi-task after all? Like Ma, she was so good at it. She read over the notes quickly, absorbing every detail she had managed to capture in her not-so-legible penmanship.

Between Astrology and Divination, she couldn't particularly tell the difference. So one was more intricate, so what? That just meant they were mostly the same. Like a subspecies. It had minute changes from it's mother organism. She caught on fast that both were difficult, and that combined with her general disinterest made her ignore the rest of the information pertaining to the subject. The future didn't interest her. Although 'animal guts' seemed to catch her eye. How had that ended up on there?

The cheetah's ears where back, listening the rather loud clashes and things that had been going on for some time now. What was going on? She looked to the front of the class room, snapping out of her deep daze in time to witness Anoki's spell in action. She blinked, green eyes bursting from rim to rim with befuddlement. What had just happened? A lot of light swirling, he had asked some guardian things from all geographical directions to do something for him, did that even make sense? She heard the mention of an alter a few minutes before, somehow it was just now clicking. There were tools arranged on the alter that allowed him to perform a spell, and call upon some sort of spirits to give him an intended outcome. So that was what a spell looked like? Suddenly she was more interested in class than she had been since the last time she had spoken.

"Outside influences were summoned." She nodded agreeably with what ever student had made the comment, she wasn't particularly watching what statement came from who. "He used tools to attract said influences, and the point of reference was his body." The statements were more or so to herself—they were the only thoughts of hers that made any logical sense, the only thing that explained in her head why and what had just happened. Whether it made any sense to anyone else, she had no idea.

Ephrem rustled uneasily at her feet, his body beginning to grow restless from discomfort of lying on a hard surface entangled in the bars of a desk. He shifted to his benefit, stretching out a bit more while still trying to keep himself out of the way.
