Merriweather Juria-San Merriweather @Juria: You have to make sure he's a big burly guy . . . and you have to wear a costume. o.o I'd be kind'a... Frightened to sing to a big burly guy... But I can try. And hopefully, by law, the big burly worker won't be allowed to touch me if my song annoys him and I will return home with all of my flesh and bones still attached. In the right spots. 3nodding Actually, every time I passed his booth I got sold to someone new . . . it was fun but kinda embarassing. Especially when my new owner tried to sell me thier crap. At least you didn't get your flower auctioned. :3 And that sounds kind'a funny. "I OWN you now, Girl... Would you like to buy a souvenir?"

Marly-chan Sadly, i'm ashamed that I barely know what half of you talking about....Except for some of the things you're talking about. Don't be ashamed, a lot of what we're talking about isn't even close to being mainstream rofl

Merriweather Insomnesiac What are some of PJ Harvey's songs? It sounds familiar. No Girl So Sweet, The Dancer, To Bring You My Love, Happy and Bleeding . . . I think I'm mixing it up with Harvey Danger and their one hit wonder song with the lyrics "paranoia, paranoia, everyones coming to get me" and it just sounds funny. XD I just looked at my "My Music" folder from my old computer and saw that I had some Coheed in there. And Alkaline Trio, Deftones, MSI, Kill Hannah, Local H, No Doubt, The Offspring, and a bunch other groups. It really has been a long time since I really listened to some music. ^^;; Concept albums and songs that tell stories are <3.

system malfunction Mori Bokusochi system malfunction Mori Bokusochi system malfunction @Mori: The only thing I don't like about them are the huge senseless gaps in the middle of songs like Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt and when Omar takes his solos too far. Other than that, they might just top my Coheed obsession xD
And I love Ben Folds Five, and I've been trying to get my hands on his solo work but my friend won't loan it to me Well, yeah, there are those, but generally, the huge gaps are followed by something absolutely mindblowing. XDD The Mars Volta's work, in general, reminds me of Radiohead's "Kid A", my favorite album of all time. In the same way, it's very...bizarre, completely out there, and at a few points it takes completely unexpected turns. There's a song that stays relatively normal until a marching band comes in and starts soloing wildly, eventually crashing into a brick wall. XD @Insom: Nirvana/Foo Fighters are made of awesome. xD 'Specially Heart Shaped Box. Also, at Merri: THOM YORKE. PJ HARVEY. <3 I think I need to buy this album rofl
I'm a sucker for concept albums, which is probably why I love Coheed so much as well. Trying to figure out the stories behind them is so much fun rofl Yes, you do. xD The band calls it a concept album about "everything and nothing at the same time", but there's also an underlying story involving genetic modification, corporations, and the slow destruction of the world. xD Or something like that. There's a secret book in the back of the CD case with stuff about it. Coheed is fun for that reason. xD They all fit together...all the CDs. Yeah. That sounds like Resident Evil and G-Corp on acid, but with an awesome soundtrack rofl
For some reason Coheed is just so amazing at it though. After a while you start to feel an actual connection with the characters. I was so upset when I figured out that Ambellina is killed by The Writing Writer in the Willing Well suite ;____; xDD Yes, that's about right, and it all revolves around this bear: If I ever have to write an essay without limitations for school, I'm writing about this album's story. xD Coheed is awesome at concept albums, in that they're one of the few bands that actually do it well, such as in your example. ._. It's better than almost any book I can think of if it can be pulled off. Ben Folds' recent stuff is excellent, too...just as a joke, he did a cover of a Dr. Dre/Snoop Dogg gangsta rap song as a mellow piano ballad with all the swears intact, and it became a radio hit.

That was pretty much it . . . didn't really have a need for a box with a ship on it . . . @Insom: That's pretty much the only Harvey Danger song I've ever heard. And kept hearing it over and over again, especially in movies. I blame Kevin Williamson.

Yeah, they're a one hit wonder like Nada Surf and their 'popular' song...which wasn't that great either... and a bunch of other bands.

@Mori: Oh my God, I NEEEED that album rofl
I know. I could sit for days just listening to Coheed and deciphering the story. The Mars Volta notsomuch, because their music isn't so acceptable if you don't look up it's backround (for example, Deloused is baisically about the character Cerpin Taxt ODing and having hollucinations, then waking up and commiting suicide. I would have never guessed that just listening to the music)
And Ben Folds is my EFFING HERO rofl heart
