"And stabbing you for no ******** reason at all... while you're trying to watch TV... Damn women." Sid had had enough of the stars. He kept his eyes on the ground to avoid tripping on anything else.

Billy fell silent, sighing over the loss of his life that once was. "It aint all bad, y'know..." He mused after a while, "S'pretty... cool t'y'know... breath under water n' sechlike." Maybe he really was going mad.

Sid would have fallen to chewing on his lip if the change to his mouth hadn't made that a very bad idea. He scratched his chin, but it just wasn't quite the same. "When..." He stopped tried again as his voice sounded too high and nervous to him. Probably his imagination. "When does it happen? The water breathing?"

"Don' know f'its th'same fer everyone..." He grunted, stuck on a fallen branch again, but he was able to reach a couple tentacles down to tug it out of the way, "Bu' mine started wit' this las' change... s'pose it were t'make up fer th'fact I lost me legs."

"I see...." Sid touched, his mouth, then his throat, and tried to figure where the gills might develop. "But you can still breath air at least a little when it's done right? I mean, we're not all gonna be stuck underwater, are we?"
He tried to make the questions sound casual, he really did, but it just wasn't working. He couldn't remember who else he might have asked about that, or even if he'd asked anyone at all. Couldn't hurt to get info from multiple sources, anyway.

"Hell f'I know. S'jes'... hard t'breath sometimes... ge' short o' breath... an' feel all dry. Go' this... hole in me head tha' feels better if I pour water in it. Makes it easier t'breath. T'ink's how I do it underwater too." He stuck a tentacle tip into his mantle cavity and wiggled it around with a grunt befor pulling it out again. "N'm'hair's all fallin' out."

Sid reached up and pulled on his hair as soon as Billy mentioned hair loss. It hurt, but didn't give, which only made him feel silly for doing it. He winced but kept quiet about it, so hopefully that double checking would go unnoticed. "Guess we'll be seeing a lot of each other then," he said darkly.

"I'll find my own rock, don't worry." Sid said. If he laughed it was only going to sound hysterical, so he held back.

"So ye'll write me tha' play, then? Y'promise?" Billy changed the subject to something more positive. He didn't want to think about his rock nor how it had become his instinctive "Territory". He supposed he would see a lot more of the fish-man. He supposed fish should stick together.

"I'll try and write something, just to get things started." Sid said, trying to avoid making any promises. "I'd need your help with the satire thing." Just so he could spread a little of the blame out.

"I'm in duplex 58," Sid said, not thinking of what he was opening himself up to. "But it's upstairs... and in the village... Well, if you're ever in the area." He waved vaguely, which was as close as he was going to get to extending an invitation to call or drop by.

"I wos' in t'irty t'ree, till I decided t'go wild-like," Billy shrugged. "I'll have t't'row rocks at yer window o' somethin'. Make sure y'get tha' script done."

That's when Sid realized what he was opening himself up to. "Sounds good..." he said, his voice a little strained.
