Sayuri Satoharu

Sayuri nodded, trying not to stare at how he looked when he grinned. His eyes were still Oz's, and she looked at them, their warmth.
'Yes. You had not seen me all..this.' she motioned to herself.
When he indicated that he wanted to hold her, she tucked herself against him straight away, her gills moving a little as she buried her face into his body. He smelt a mixture of clean, and something else, his body feeling so strangely hard, yet still warm as ever.

Well, at least she hadn't tried to run away or shown any kind of fear or hatred towards him. The ache inside him, the one that had gnawed away at him since his change, the need to be with someone...it disappeared the moment he felt Sayuri in his arms.

Was it her he had needed? Her smell, her sight, her sounds? Or was it just someone?

"You're always pretty to me but you look stunning today," he said, sounding maybe a little more sugary than he had wanted to. The feeling was there but the words weren't.

He hugged her close, holding her in the same way he had always done. Gentle, tender, his way. But the extra muscle could not be ignored.

'Love..' she said with a small sigh. He was so..overwhelming to her right now. But she did still feel the same amount of affection for him.
He did feel heavy to her now, the hug was almost like a heavy weight blanket was resting on her body.
Sayuri wasnt well versed in flattery, insincere or otherwise. She was happy that Oz liked how she looked, compliments had been few and far between in her life. Her tail twitched a little. She wondered briefly what else he would want from her. Frankly, anything more then a hug or kisses seemed too much - if ever now. She did not like to think that way though.

He eased his hug slowly, not wishing for his grasp of her to be too far away. His hands now only perched at her curves. When he suddenly emitted a deep rumble, known as a vocalisation in the gorilla world, he startled himself more than anything, and looked deeply embarrassed.

"Umm...errr..." he said, fidgeting uncomfortably on the thin rim of the bath.

He stood up and beckoned for Sayuri to follow him into the room, where he could more comfortably sit on his bed. It was also an attempt to get away from what he'd just done. Maybe switching places and subjects...

"I've missed you, how have you been?" he asked awkwardly.

This all felt terribly formal, but Oz's charm was hindered b his subconscious worries over his new form.

Sayuri almost giggled, looking away as she did, as the noise both startled and amused her. She followed when he left, moving in the way she had practised in order that she would not fall over when doing the simple task of walking.
There was some little room on his bed, and she perched on it, legs crossed primly under her kimono, a hand tugging on one kimono sleeve. She felt his awkwardness and it made her nervous as she had been the first time she had sat in his room like this.
'I miss you also.' she said.
'I have been ok-ay.'

When he was not curled up in a 'nest' on his bed, Oz had found another way to sit that didn't bring him too much discomfort. His legs, whilst the same size as they ever were, seemed small compared to his torso, and sat almost cross-legged, he very much resembled a fuzzy Buddha.

At a time like this, when his mind was far from intact, Oz found it difficult to keep conversation. There was much he could ask her, talk to her about, but he just couldn't summon the words...what was wrong with him? He often physically looked like he was searching the walls and ceiling for words to say.

"Did you go to the Christmas party thing?" he asked with geniune interest, reaching a hand to hers to gently hold.

Sayuri shook her head, letting him take her hand and looking at the way her small one nestled into his much larger hand.
'We do not celebrate Chris-ah-mas.' she leant against him, her tail moving and curling over the edge of his bed, the fin part moving a little.
'I went swim. I made friend.' she said, smiling as she remembered the watery play with Cody. It had been nice to meet someone who wasnt complicated.

"You don't celebrate Christmas? Aww, you don't know what you're missing! I'll have to show you next year," he said, sounding quite genuinely shocked.

Oz could maybe be forgiven for his attitude concerning holidays, since he'd always grown up with Christmas and assumed a vast portion of anyone he was to meet also celebrated Christmas. But he wasn't reall being sensitive to WHY Sayuri didn't celebrate Christmas, if indeed she had a reason.

Her second statement brought a smile though.

"You went swimming? Great! I'm glad you're not scared of the water anymore," he said, giving her hand a more-than-gentle squeeze.

'It is not Japanese holiday.' she said, looking away from him. She didnt know what the big deal was about the holidays that the people on this Island seemed bound to celebrate. After all, except for the fact that she'd met Oz, Hallowe'en hadnt been all that fun. She couldnt imagine that Christmas would be any different.
'I was not scare of water.' Sayuri corrected him.
'It was squid man who I do not like.' she looked back at him, her free hand moving upwards and gently pressed her fingers on his face.

Oz was silent for a few moments in response to her cold attitude toward Christmas. He rolled his tongue around his mouth and chewed his lip, finding an awkwardness settling in on that topic.

"Well, you should teach me some Japanese holidays then," he suggested, quite happy to learn.

On the topic of swimming, he could very well understand why Sayuri would be afraid of Billy. He was a spiteful, acidic character, at least the time he'd seen him anyway.

"Yeah, Billy isn't nice at all...but it sounds like you have a swimming partner. You won't need me soon," he teased, leaning down to nuzzle into her neck like he had always done...except he had a lot of fur now.

'I did not have much to cele-brate when I was at home.' Sayuri looked uncomfortable, not wanting to think about what she'd given up to become a Maiko. She'd wanted to be a Maiko since she was little because it would make her mother proud of her..it never happened, and she had grown up with a small feeling of missing things.
'Billy?'
So the squid man had a name did he? She would remember it if she ever bumped into him again. Maybe it would help if she could address him properly.
'I always need,' she said quietly, and then she giggled as his fur tickled the sensitive skin of her neck. She turned, tracing the different contours of his face with her fingers, and then kissed him gingerly.

The kiss took him by surprise and practically wiped his mind of everything she had just said, and everything he was about to say. The kiss was short-lived though - Oz pulled away quickly, looking quite concerned. He felt like this shouldn't be happening...he felt like a monster...

"Y...you're not frightened?" he asked.

It was difficult for Sayuri. Had she proper language skills she would be able to explain to him properly that she was slightly afraid but her affection for him, her love for him would always over ride the fear, and the very, very slight sense of ickiness that she felt. It was the first time seeing him or kissing him after all. She imagined that after a while she would become so used to his appearance that it wouldnt affect her at all.
'I love..' she said. It was the easiest way to explain it all really.

Oz felt conflicted. He felt ashamed that he should doubt Sayuri, especially after everything she had gone against to be with him, but at the same time, there was this paranoid fear of losing her to someone else.

But how, and why, had he formed such an attachment to her? Yes, he cared very much for her, he'd never want to see her hurt again and could imagine spending time with her. But was this love? Or was this something he didn't know yet, was this something deeper compelling him to keep his first 'female?'

Either way, he needed her. Heaving a great sigh, with that odd pleasant rumble creeping in again, he gently lifted Sayuri into his lap and held her tenderly.

Sayuri quietly watched him. He seemed almost deep in thought, and she waited for him to speak, her tail flicking a little as she sat there.
'Oh..' she squeaked, the word slipping out as he made the very strange noise once again. She let him pick her up - although 'let' wasnt exactly the word. It wasnt as if she could stop him - at all from doing anything.

This time her fingers moved through the fur of his neck ruff, watching the way it moved, wriggling it into the hairs.
