Marikz2Kule I loved how they turned it into 'fruit juice' in the english dub. Hmm... does anyone know what the kanji in Bakura's name stand for/mean? Cause uh... according to my stuffs... it doesn't exist.. >.> But that can't be true. Can someone help me? *looks at Kitsune who has helped me before* Huh? Yes, the "fruit juice" made me giggle to no end. XD Then in the movie he suddenly drank wine... As for Bakura's name? Okay, lessee... "Ryou" means "Understanding," however, I'm having a bit of a hard time finding the other two characters, the ones that make up "Bakura." I wasn't able to find any matching characters to his name of "Ba," "Baku," "Kura," or "Ra," which are the only four possible characters in his name, since there are only two kanji. However that was when looking up in my kanji dictionary alphabetically. I could attempt to go by stroke count and keep digging, since my dictionary doesn't always provide all the possible sounds for each character, especially when involved in names, but that would take quite a while, especially since I'm not very good at counting strokes yet. Chances are they wouldn't be in there anyway, since names often have characters in them that are no longer in common use, and my dictionary only has the 2000 most common kanji in it. I highly doubt that the characters in his name "don't exist," but rather, are simply uncommon, and mainly only used in names now-a-days. I'll try some hunting via internet as well; I might be able to come up with something at least... ^^;; (Edit smile Okay, found out the first character is "Baku" and the second is "Ra," however I still have yet to find their meanings. (Edit smile Ah-hah! It looks like the reason "Baku" is so uncommon, is because it has a really obscure meaning: "an imaginary beast that was thought to eat copper, iron and nightmares." ~referenced from http://www.kanjinetworks.com/mnetwork/MAK.htmlApparently it's some form of dog beast... (Edit smile Yay, found "Ra!" ^^ It hid from me because it looks like "Ra" is an extremely uncommon reading for the character; it is usually pronounced as Ryou, Rou, Yoi, Yoshi, or Yaya. Anyway, it means "well," "good," "nice," or "correct." ~referanced from http://www.webdico.com/kan/kantxtg34.htmlSo I guess if you put his complete name together as "Bakura Ryou," it would mean, "Kind Dog-Beast Thing (Baku) Who is Understanding." Heh, sounds kinda like Inu Yasha to me. XD The only reason I thought of that is because of what you posted... razz

YAY! *glomps Kistune* You always come through and help me. Thank you so much!!! *gives cookies* Who would've thought thats what it meant? I suck at Kanji... >.> Yeah, it does sound like Inuyasha. o.o So what were his parents thinking when they named him? 0.o Oh well... Bakura has steadily become my favorite characters... They need to make a plushi of him and stick it on ebay... Like they need to do with Naraku... *weird smile* Me luff evil villains. Yeah Naraku and Bakura.

XD;; You're welcome. *eats cookie* I was actually pretty curious myself since you brought it up... XD;; And yeah... kanji names can be pretty on crack... like if I remember correctly, Jounouchi's full name means, "Among this Castle be Kind" or something weird like that. XD;; Oh, and "Mutou" means "Military Wysteria." XD And well, "Bakura" is really the weird part of the name, which is the family name, so I don't think his parents really had much of a choice on that part. XD;; The name they gave him, "Ryou," simply means "Understanding," which isn't so weird considering Bakura's personality.

0_o Suddenly a new question has come to mind. When the crap did family last names suddenly pop up? I mean.. SOMEONE had to name their family that... Unless they wrote down a bunch of names, stuck them in a hat, and then did drawings...
Chief of town: Okay... Ringo? Right... you guys get 'Bakura'... *snicker* Ringo: ...*sighs heavily* I knew we'd get that one...
Hrmm... What the crap? Mutou!? XDDD That last part was so weird and I'm so unfamiliar with the word 'Wysteria' I had to go look it up in a dictionary! XD Now I feel really smart. Wow... I think I'm glad my name is in English and that people generally don't know what it means.

Hmm... I remember doing research on that once actually... if I remember correctly, in fuedal Japan only nobles could have family names. Everyone else just went by their first names or their job titles. Then when a new era came... the Meiji Restoration I believe, it suddenly became law that people had family names. So a lot of people just made acronyms (would that be the right word...?) on their towns and jobs, forming them into family names. Others simply made up random crap and were all, "Okay, that's my last name! X3" But I like your Ringo idea better. XD ...and yeah... when I first looked up the kanji in Mutou, I had to look up wysteria as well. XD;;;

INteresting piece of history. I started wondering about that... Well, at least I wasn't the only one who took a look at that word and went 'WHAT!?' XD Yes... so like... Bakura's family ate copper or something? Or maybe they were evil ninjas? >.> *will never stop thinking about this until Bakura himself tells her* >.> Speaking of which, it is VERY hard at one point to look at skinny present day Bakura and at built Tou. Bakura and decide which one is more attractive. Right now, I'm sticking with the nice built body of Ancient Tou. Bakura. *nods* I want to glomp him... Very badly...

Here, I looked on Wikipedia because I'm lame like that, and it explains much better than I did. XD;; "Until the Meiji restoration, Japanese common people (people other than kuge and samurai) had no surnames, and when necessary, used a substitute such as the name of their birthplace. For example, Ichirō born in Asahi mura (Asahi village) in the province of Musashi would say "Ichirō from Asahi-mura of Musashi". Merchants were named after their brands (for example, Denbei, the owner of Sagamiya, would be Sagamiya Denbei), and farmers were named after their fathers (for example, Isuke, whose father was Genbei, would be "Isuke, son of Genbei"). After the Meiji restoration, the government ordered all commoners to assume surnames in addition to their given names: many people adopted historical names, while others simply made names up or had a local sage make up a surname. This explains, in part, the large number of surnames in Japan, as well as their great diversity of spellings and pronunciations." ~from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_names*just imagined poor Bakura attempting to ingest copper* XD;; And... I think skinny, pale Bakura is more attractive... while I do like tan skin, Thief King has kind of a stupid look to his face half-the-time, and his hair isn't as long and smexy. D: Plus, Bakura's face is just so much cuter than Thief King's!

I suppose my love for Tou. Bakura would have something to do with the whole... being a thief thing. I've always loved bandits, pirates, thieves, looters, plunderers, robbers, and all the stealie-klepto types. <.< Maybe that's cause when I was little I stole EVERYTHING. My greatest raid was *XD* when I got my grandmothers gold ruby ring, sapphire ring, and white gold and diamonds ring. >.> I like shiny things. I'm weird like that. And I prefer desert bandits over the others... *sigh* I'll be like 'yay Tou. Bakura!' and then when it switches over to present day Bakura in the graveyard *XD I first wrote 'gravyard' XDDD Mmm, gravy.* and I'm like.. 'whooo, shmexy Bakura, w00t!' I jump... but Bakura is still Bakura and it's not appearances that matter. ...<.> Much.. <.<. Tou Bakura looks like his head is more fluffy... And he does have that strange look. First thing that came to mind when you said that.. Bakura singing 'Pidgeons in the Park'. You've seen that right? XDDD

Thieves interest me, but I've always been more into the good guys. XD;; I think the only major anime I love where my favorite character is a villain is Yami no Matsuei... and while my favorite character, Muraki, does kill people and stuff, he's more of a villain because he's just plain-crazy, rather than having world-ruling ambitions or anything like that. XD;; Gravy... <3 But yeah, that goes into the good guy preferance for me again; I think Bakura Ryou, the sweet, innocent one, is better-looking than Thief King, the... well, thief. XD;; Maybe I just subconciously think that because I'm drawn to good guys? o.o And maybe you just subconciously think Thief King is hotter because you're drawn to thieves? o.o Quite interesting... And yes, I've seen that. XD "When we're poooiiiisoning the pigeonnns in the park~!" <3

XD I love that so much. Yes, I think it is because I'm subconsciously attracted to thieves. All my friends do that fangirl "HE'S MINE! YOU CAN'T HAVE HIM!!" thing. But when it comes to my characters they usually *but not always* look at me like I've got broccoli stuck in my teeth. 0__o But the upside is when we're flailing about characters from Inuyasha and I go, 'I LOVE NARAKU!' They turn to me and say 'You can have him'. XD And with Yuugiou everybody wants a piece of Atem *Yami no Yuugi a little more than Atem cause most of them stopped watching it before the series got that far* and Seto. >..> One of my friends has a thing for Shaudi *sp* and another has a thing for *ahem* 'Honda-puu' 0.o I was suddenly reminded of Tsubasa Chronicles when she said that. 0___0
But just so you know, when we do that 'he's mine' thing... none of us are serious. It's basically how we say 'this is the guy I like... you insult him I'll kick your a**' XD So it's a little different than the weirder fangirls that like to apply for online marriage licenses for the guys. That's.. a little more than creepy.. .<.<

Ha, I'm kind of like that as well, though I never say "he's mine" since I'm asexual. XD;; But in the Pokemon group I'm in, everyone in the group is obsessed with Musashi and Koujiro. (Jessie and James) I'm like the only person in the group who they're not my favorite character; my favorite character is Takeshi/Brock. And everyone else is like, "...okay, have fun with that! We love Team Rocket! *squeal*" XD;; And... while I do think Atem can be hot, I really don't care for him much... Kaiba, he's my second-favorite character, but Atem/Yami no Yuugi... XP And... someone actually likes... Shaadi...? *dies* Honda is awsome though, I'm glad to hear that he has some fangirls. XD And those online marriage liscenses really are creepy! O_o

I have two friends that know the Japanese version of Poke'mon... They talk about it all the time. The rest of us are like 'Who?' So I'm glad you put the dub names, otherwise I would have been lost. I get what you mean with ...erm,... Takeshi *that's a lot better of a name than Brock... I think I'm going to call him that now..>.>* When I was a big-time poke'mon "can't-miss-an-episode-or-I-will-die" fan, he was my fav. I guess he still is... Hmm... I don't like watching it now though, because the actors are different, and you just can't do that to long-term fans. And fans of the newer series that don't even have the original characters, aren't real poke'mon fans. That's my opinion at least.
Yes, she likes Shaadi very much. She wouldn't give back volume two for the longest time... until I got volume three and then she traded it back. XD

Ugh... I refuse to watch the new episodes... I was so depressed too, because in that Pokemon group I'm in, we would always talk about the Lucario movie before it even came out in Japan, and we were all excited because Mew was in it again and all the characters dressed up medieaval-like. But when it came out here, it was after the voice actors had gotten replaced, so I assumed it used the new voice actors. I refused to watch it, even though I did really wanna see it. But then one day it was on Cartoon Network, and I happened to catch a glimpse of it, and I immediatly reccognized that they were using the original voices. I was so excited that I looked for the next time it would be on and recorded it. X3 It's so awsome to finally meet someone else who likes Takeshi though! Wow... just about everyone I know hates Shaadi. XD;; (I do...) But let me guess... after you got the second volume back, she wouldn't give you the third volume, right? XD;;

...Yeah... Had a hell of a time getting my volumes back... She's still got 1-5 of my Sennen World *I rufuse to call it Millen. World... don't know why, I just do.* And about Takeshi... they always teased me by stretching out their eyes with their fingers and saying 'He has LINES for eyes'. XD Now that I think about it... it was kinda funny... but still... Even though he has lines for eyes, Takeshi's still awesome. *nod* I was pissed when they changed voice actors for the YUU*GI*OU characters... Liek all of sudden Mokuba looks up and says 'Is it just me, or is there a giant hole in the sky' in Monkey D. Luffy's voice from One Piece. *I don't usually watch it, but when I was bored I used to watch ANYTHING, and I recognized the voice* I went into flails because I love Mokuba and that is NOT his voice. I wanted to kill something... And I had already read on some website they would change the voices, but apparently I didn't see that Mokuba's would change. But I was going to kill someone if Yuugi's voice changed...
