Reno thought hastily. He hadn't really expected to find her so quickly, and as such he hadn't given much thought to a cover story. Deciding to wing it as best he could, he merely shrugged.

"I'm just in town on business. You know, Turk stuff."

Reno looked back at her, trying to feign concern. He had to get her to the hotel, and he had to do it very discreetly. Nodding to himself, he went into action. He stopped and turned toward her. He looked at her in mock disgust.

"Here, let me button up your coat for you..."

Reno reached forward and buttoned up her coat and wrapped it around her snugly. He also pulled the hood over her head. He tried to do all this as haughtily as possible.

"Listen Yuffie, just follow me. We need to get you out of the cold, and I'm sure your father wouldn't want you to be seen with a Turk, now would he?"

Reno walked alongside her, just so he could keep an eye on her. If he pulled this off, life just might turn around for them. Of course, he'd have to keep any suspected Turk involvement in the affair to a minimum, or else he'd have Avalanche and the entire Wutai Army to deal with. The inn wasn't too far away now.... just a bit longer.

What... His hand reaching for her jacket. ... What the .... It grasping and zipping up her coat. ....the hell... His voice haughty with something else present, addressing her as he walked beside her.

"What the hell are you doing?!" The teen exploded on the red-head man beside her, brain finally beginning to thaw and work properly. "Excuse me for being cynical, but I don't exactly see you as the type to try and walk in to play 'prince charming' and save my a** from hypothermia on the one night I happen to be -"

Realizing what she was about to say, she stopped herself mid-sentence. Raising her hand to flick some of the shoulder-length brown black hair from her face, she frowned for a second, brows furrowed and eyes closed. Opening her eyes again she half-glared at Reno in a wary and defiant manner.

"What I mean to say is, we didn't exactly leave on the best of terms. Sure, we let you guys run from Midgar while we headed deeper into it to face Hojo, but it's not like you haven't tried to kill me and my companions before. Don't give me the 'I'm different now' crap, both you and I know you can't teach an old dog new tricks." She finished, grimacing in disgust, but partially smiling in victory all the same.

Then the thought struck her: Wait.... didn't you just want to leave Wutai and - she frowned again, this time inwardly. Man, of all the times for me to be going through that stupid teen angst stage...

He had been staring out the window, lost in thought when the young blonde Turk entered the room. Being closest to the inn, Rude had arrived first and had been waiting in the room for about twenty minutes for the others and tried to act as normally as possible. "Normal" meaning a little bit less discreet than he usually was.

But when he heard Elena's footsteps, Rude reverted back to his normal self.

"Can I get more of an explanation now?"

It was funny seeing one of the most outgoing Turks as of yet (with the exception of Reno, of course) to speak in such a hushed tone, but Rude kept that amusement to himself. He walked over to the dresser and poured coffee into the two mugs there, handing one to her. Years of experience in such high risk missions like this let Rude act a bit more casually and easily believable that he was just a man looking for a job and not a Turk.

"I got a call from Reno," he explained to her in his typical low voice. "From what he told me, he's heading back to the inn with her."

He took a sip of his coffee, waiting for her reaction.

Accepting the coffee before turning away to sneeze, she repressed her usual spontaniety. Blinking in an emphasized fashion, before closing her eyes and turning away, she shrugged.

"Well, I guess its just that knack or sixth sense of his that made him our leader..." Taking a sip of her coffee, she opened her eyes and looked over to Rude.

I guess I should try and get to know these guys... It's not like being mission-obsessed has ever gotten me anywhere anyways. There's no Shinra to lord over us now.

"So.... how was your search until Reno called you?"

Reno looked a bit taken aback by her outburst for a moment. Man, didn't she know how to be thankful?

"Listen, I know that the Turks and Avalanche have had an akward relationship at times, but just because we were once on opposite sides doesn't mean we're enemies. Its just a soldier's life. The words "friend" and "enemy" mean very little to a mercenary. I don't have any reason to see you die in the cold. If you might recall, I helped save your skin once before on these very cliffs from a certain lecherous Don. Oh, and Yuffie? If memory serves me correctly, it was you guys who backed down in Midgar. Now then, if you're done chattering, could we get a move on? Its cold out here, and you happen to be wearing my jacket."
PostPosted: Mon Jan 24, 2005 9:06 pm

Letting out a sigh, Yuffie frowned, though not in an angry manner. Eyebrows inverted arches, it was more of an expression of loss and confusion than anything else. As her crystalized breath disappeared into the night, she shifted, closed her eyes, then removed Reno's jacket and tossed it to him. Crossing her arms, she paused, thoughtful.

Damn it Yuffie, get a grip. The man saved your life, and you throw an emotional tempertantrum at him? Hell, you half accused him of having bad intentions. I'm not sixteen anymore, and I should at least show it. Even if I am having a bad night, I shouldn't take it out on him - its my son of a b***h father that deserves to see that storm. Wait a sec, Grandma wasn't a b***h. Oh well, I know what I mean.

Finally opeing here eyes, removing the hand that had subconsciously shot to her forehead as she contemplated, Yuffie nodded at Reno. "Whatever. Look, I didn't mean to come off as abrasive. It's been... well it doesn't matter. It's not like I planned on heading home tonight anyways." She said, eyes glancing off to where the mountains met the sky. "I'm fine without your jacket really. I'm used to the cold," she added, unzipping her own jacket and shoving her hands in her jacket pockets. Turning back to the man she usually regarded as a party animal of an easy-going slob, gave a relucant smile, cast her eyes toward his feet, and mumbled something muddled and incomprehensible.

After a moment had passed since she ceased her babbling, she paused, then looked up at him a tad confused. "So where were you headed anyway?" She asked, trying to regain what had become her usual demeanor as of late.

Reno looked exageratingly touched at her words as he put back on his own jacket. Yes, she was buying it hook, line, and sinker. She didn't want to go home tonight. That was perfect! He just might be able to pull this off easily.

"Oh you know... just Turk business. Hey, you mentioned that you didn't want to go home tonight anyways. Why not join the Turks for a party? Rumor has it that you've become quite the party animal lately. I'm just curious if you have enough partying spirit in you to hang with the Turks."

Reno made these last words sound like a clear challenge to her honor.

"C'mon," he thought to himself, "go for it...."
PostPosted: Wed Jan 26, 2005 6:25 pm

"Hang with the Turks? Sorry, but with exception to you, unless you've added to your ranks, which I highly doubt, I can't picture you guys throwing much of a party," she teased. "I mean, you've got a mission-obsessed, hot-headed workoholic, and a bald, stoically silent guy with the entire ex-bouncer look. No offense, but all I can picture is Elena exasperated, Rude stoic, and you getting drunk off your a**." She finished, teasing smile lighting her face.

What the heck, its not like it really matters what I do anyway. In fact, the Turks are probably the most familiar people to me here... Man that sounds sad. "Hi, I'm Yuffie, and I like to chat with people who've tried to kill me! Doi..."
Yeah... definitely retarded.
She thought to herself, believing that the Turks probably were the closest thing she had to friends in Wutai at the moment. Though she knew it probably wasn't a good idea, and there were warning bells going off left and right in her head, years of practice made it easy to tune them out. Besides, she'd been working on her escape skills, so nothing of that disasterous incident's sort would be happening again.

OOC: Not sure if anything's happening in Costa Del Sol...

*Cid put out his cigarette and paced some more.*

Where the hell is Reeve? I thought he was going to be done soon. Hmph. He probably forgot. Kids these days...sheesh.

*He walked away from the airship a bit, toward the sound of the waves. Standing on the edge of the seawall, he took in the sights, smells, and feelings of the sea.*

You know...this is about as close to the feeling you get while flying as you can get while here on the ground...

===============================================

*Barret was getting impatient at the length of time this was taking.*

Apparently "it'll only take a second" means "grab a chair 'cause it's going to be a while." Barrett thought to himself.

I saw Cloud and Red run out a little while ago...but where did Reeve and Tifa go?
PostPosted: Wed Feb 02, 2005 7:54 pm

OOC: I'm waiting for Gwyn to respond as Reeve before I can continue with Tifa sweatdrop

IC:

"So...how was your search until Reno called you?"

Rude glanced at Elena before looking back out the window.

"Pretty dismal," he simply replied. He honestly wasn't in the mood for much conversation at the moment. Well, he wasn't in the mood for much conversation most of the time anyway.

"You?"

ooc: I need to get the Turk's thing out of the way before we get too far with the main characters... so I'll hurry up and try to get this out of the way.

bic:

Reno caught Yuffie's grin and tone, and knew that she was in the bag. Grinning himself, he continued on. They soon reached the outskirts of town where their hotel was. Stopping, Reno grinned at Yuffie.

"So, are you sure you don't want to stay? I could use a pretty girl to get drunk with. God knows I don't want to stare at Rude's ugly mug all night. And Elena... well, Elena tends to be even more ditzy when she's drunk, if you can believe that. So what do ya say? Wanna party?"

He said these last words with a bit of a scandalous tone. He waited for her answer, but he was already sure of her response. Hopefully Rude and Elena wouldn't make too big of a deal when he brought Yuffie in. If they got her good and drunk, then slipping her some pills would be easy. Once she was knocked out, it was only a matter of getting her to the exchange point. Man, was she going to be pissed when she found out the truth.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 02, 2005 11:08 pm

"Drunk?" Yuffie couldn't help but sound a little irked. " 'Scuse me, but I like knowing my limits, thanks very much." She half-puffed, but grinned all the same. Pheh, why the hell not? Not like I really want to care about being a figure head for the town right now anyway... She mentally beamed. Then added that's right, SCREW YOU GOHDO! Mentally smirking rather broadly.

"Well, I think I'm not in the mood really, but if that doesn't bug you, why the hell not? It's been a while anyway, and I don't see any reason to hold grudges now that we aren't on opposing sides."

Pausing she quirked her eyebrows briefly, before looking over at Reno directly, a sudden realization dawning on her. No... you're kidding me. Then the recollection of him looking her over when she was practically a human popsicle popped back into her head. "Wait a sec. You were hitting on me just now, weren't you?" More of a statement than a question, it fell out of her mouth about as quickly as her expression implied her jaw might have dropped, had she not gained so much practice at hiding shock while clubbing.

Restraining the urge to throw a small outburst in Rude's direction, she merely let out an exasperated huff.

Man, I go out of my way to try and talk to him, and he cuts it off...

"Much the same - you'll never guess what happened." She said, trying to bait Rude into talking a little more.

Reno was taken aback for a moment, totally broadsided by Yuffie's last statement. Man... she really is straight forward. Damn she's hot... too bad. Maybe if I didn't have to kidnap her we could go on a date sometime. Reno just put on his customary grin and looked at her rougishly.

"Heh, you caught me. Hey, you're 18. I have to admit, you've... er... grown quite a bit from the pest that I fought all that time ago. Is it so suprising? With such a pretty girl like you, I'd have thought you get it all the time."

Reno was really laying it on thick now. His face brightened up a bit as he saw their hotel nearing closer. Just a little bit further, and this job would be close to completion. However, a nagging doubt had begun to itch at the back of Reno's mind. She really was beautiful. The only other time that Reno had had reservations about a job was when he was assigned to destroy Sector 7. He hadn't wanted to do it, but he had done it anyways. That was back when Shinra was king though... if he hadn't done that, he would have more than likely been murdered. If Reno was any less of a professional, he just might not have the balls to go through with this job.

The moment Reno had finished his returning remark, Yuffie's face donned a smilling frown, eyebrows half-twitching between anger, frustration, and amused surprise.

"Wh-what?" Yuffie's jaw half-dropped. Her face might have flushed, were it not for the cold. "Reno, you are one incorrigable guy, you know that?" She said, placing her left hand on the back of her head while shaking her head, eyes closed with a smile. Right hand on her hip, she dropped her left hand back to her side and leaned back a little in her place, eyes meeting Reno's.
"So, what's the plan?" She asked, saying no more to avoid it becoming obvious she was a tad tongue-tied by Reno's last comment.
