Also, you're being awfully rude. It's fine if you don't agree with some statements, but insults to any character are out of line. Besides, your sexual orientation does not belong in this discussion, and bringing it up is acknowledging stereotypes.

I'm sorry if I offended you, that wasn't the point of my post. And the comment regarding my sexual orientation was meant to be a joke. It obviously makes you uncomfortable for others to joke about how others sterotype them.

As for Raoul in the book, yes he was described as having very soft features, but he also comes across vain. And as for who the editor is, pick one, because I own more than 6 copies of Gaston Leroux's Phantom, all with different editor's and book companies.

-Lasciate Ogni Speranza-
(Not all "flipping homos", as you stated so eloquently, are cry-babies. stare )

Patrick Wilson's portrayal did give a vain outlook, but his characterization did not cry every five minutes.

And if you're talking about Gaston Leroux's novel, Raoul was a brave man, considering the circumstances.

And, the same is to be said to you, my comment was not meant to offend, but as a joke. If you were at all offended I am sorry.

And I wasn't saying Leroux's Raoul wasn't brave, but he was vain.

I don't see how he was vain. He was born into a good family with lots of status. Going to the opera regularly, having good clothes- all of that came with his being a Parisian viscount. Also, a true narcissist wouldn't dare be seen crying.

Maybe you took his character differently than I did. It happens in real life, and it happens in fiction, too. Perhaps you just saw something about him that I didn't. That was the main reason that, in my original post, I made sure to put "IMO" near the beginning, because I'm not trying to make you agree with me and I wasn't saying that you were wrong, I was just posting my opinion. neutral

The way you worded your sentences made it appear as if you were being just a tad rude. I don't care if people bring up their sexual orientations, but that seemed more an insult than a joke when put with what you were saying. I would also appreciate you not to assume things about me, if you don't mind.

So, back your words up. Give me quotes from the book or snippets where you think it says he is vain, because I am not getting that message.
