Akai finally had a small break. She dashed off before the cook changed his mind and made her work though it. She even had a few marks to spend. Not lot relaly.. but enough for perhaps a game.. or somethign pretty for herself and Kopi.. Not that kopi liked the thought of a ribbon on him wich is what she had been thinking about.
"This is so nice.. "She says smiling to herself as she wandered.. a bit dirtier than most of the people.. but unless they had seen her working, she doubted they would realize she was a drudge. Well.. that was the hope anyway. Akai saw the game booth where a girl was apprenly guessing numbers to win prizes. She saw the eggpots and blinked
"Wow.." she says, and stays to the side.. just watching wanting to see how far she could get, since it was with out a doubt she was going for the firelizard eggs.

Rayinte Well, apparently those holders hadn't appreciated her little speech, and had decided to follow her discreetly.
... Like dimglows like them could be discreet! Isskio had alerted Ray and is now keeping an eye on the two, having called a fair of other flits to keep her company, and from being too obvious.
Surprisingly, Ray finds it difficult to shake the pursuit. They aren't running, but neither is she, though she makes frequent turns. She glances around to see if any flits seem to be paying her unusual amounts of attention, but there's so many cavorting in the sky that she can't tell.
Ray ducks between a weaver's and a tanner's stalls, both tempoary shops having walls of canvas or leather, with a narrow passage between them. She moves quickly through it, then turns down the long alley behind two rows of stalls, to try to get to the main "street" in a position behind the two holders.
Isskio alerts her that they've moved to intercept. Swallowing an oath at their persistence, she turns around and darts in the opposite direction, nearly tripping over the damned skirts before she can gather them in one fist while holding out her other hand to ward off anyone who might try to get in her way.
One of the holders must have a flit! What were the odds? Isskio flashed an image of the two holders walking after her, though with the hanging cloths and irregularities in the construction of each individual stall, Ray couldn't see them. That they were walking was a good sign though, it meant she had time.
Time ... time to what? At least she had put distance between herself and her chasers. She makes her way back out into the crowd and calls Isskio back to her, after making sure the flit could immediately locate either fellow.
Surely they wouldn't try anything on her in the middle of a crowd? And Isskio was a match for anyone in a fight. Ray hoped... Darek suddenly gave a contented sigh, after drinking half a wineskin the world had turned into a happier place. Jyn crooned bobbing his little brown head up and down and sending his human a picture of a roasted wherry. "So it's food you want eh?" he patted the little flit's head, "lets go get us some, I've had quite a drastic change in mood." He dug into his pocket, he had a couple marks. Enough to stuff a temperamental flit and still leave him enough to fall into decent drunken stupor by nightfall. Darek grabbed the largest platter of food he could find and both man and flit stuffed themselves. For desert he went to the stalls and bought himself a couple of bubbly pies along with a large dried fruit Jyn was so fond of. As they walked through the crowd Jyn spotted a gold flit. He chirped in appreciation and stared at the gold. Darek observed the brown's odd behaviour with interest. "She's out of your league mate," he chuckled and stroked the brown's chest with his index finger, "best you stick with greens." Jyn crooned and sent him a worried feeling. That feeling of foreboding could only mean trouble. Darek looked through the crowd and saw a woman glancing around nervously. Darek's first impulse was to mind his own business, she had prbably taken something from a stall that didn't belong to her, or said just the right thing to piss someone off. 'Nope, I'm definitetly not getting into this one,' he concluded. But as he began to turn away, Jyn nipped his ear. With and angry screech he then flapped towards the gold and her human. The harper winced as the little flit sent him angry feelings. With a sigh he gave in and followed his brown. Getting blissfully intoxicated would have to wait. "Hello miss, are you alright? You seem a bit lost," he asked as politely as he could. The brown flit chirped curiously at the gold.

She laughed, simply because she was enjoying herself, and clapped along with the crowd. Out of breath and panting, she was once again made aware of the food tables. "how about a good wineskin and some food? I'm parched..."

"Uh sure...why not..." This was starting to get harder. The longer he was with her the more he couldn't tell her. If he did...he'd want a good head start...

Ray doesn't realize that she's being addressed as she walks past someone asking a question, assuming someone else is the target of the inquiry, but Isskio tugs a bit sharply at her hair. She turns, irritably brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. Why had she put it down again? Oh yes. To avoid being recognized.
The person who talked to her seems to be a harper of some sort. She doesn't quite recognize the rank, but fellow seems a bit young. Well. She has to shake the pursuit, maybe he can help.
"Lost? No. There are some Holders following me, I..." she trails off, groping for the right way to phrase things. She shrugs, and puts it bluntly without revealing too much. "I insulted their masculinity rather rudely. And loudly. They've been following me, I think one of them has set a flit on me." She glances about, then starts walking, gesturing for the fellow to keep up. "I shouldn't stand still for too long. What I need, if you're willing to help, is a disguise, and perhaps a diversion."

They sat at a table and waved down a passing attendant. "Some Benden white, if you don't mind...a good vintage please. Some food as well," she said. She handed the man the rest of her marks. It was a lot, but as the vintner had said earlier: harper marks didn't buy a lot in present times. People were always hesitant to take them when there was a new Masterharper, not knowing whether productivity or quality of the craft would alter for the worse with the power shift.
Things were a little quiet while they waited for the food. He was quiet. She kept trying for things to say, but everytime she looked over at him she was reminded of how handsome he looked. Why was she flustered all of a sudden?

D'rek tried hard not to laugh as he matched her pace.
"Whatever you said must have caused quite a stir if it actually pried them away from their wine," he tried to think.
He had nothing along the lines of a disguise. He had even left his cloak back at the Hall because of the fine weather. Suddenly he spotted an unguarded blanket, more suited for a runner than a person. With a quick yet hidden motion a questionable group of traveling merchants had taught him, he lifted the cloth from the the stall.
"This will have to do," he said flashing her a mischevious smile, "I'll pay for it later. Don't put it on yet. First we need a diversion." He saw that there were a lot of fire lizards around, any one of them could be the one keeping tabs on the woman. He then noticed Jyn's scarred eye. 'I wonder,' he thought to himself. Darek then sent the brown a picture of flits fighting. Jyn crooned and his eyes swirled with blue and green undertones. With a happy trill the brown flit darted towards a clump of the flits. He then turned to the woman.
"When you hear the noise, take off as fast as you can and put on the blanket," he told her through his teeth, "by the way, my name's Darek. Hope to see you around later under more favorable circumstances."
Just then Jyn violated some unwritten law of flit ettiquette that sent half of the flits in the vacinity stark raving mad. He squawked some sort of nonsense to the other half and in the span of two minutes all hell broke loose.

Ray looks up in surprise as the flits begin fighting, grabbing Isskio to keep her from joining in the battle. The queen settles down on Ray's shoulder, grumbling. She glances at the youngster, "Darek, eh? I'm Rayinte. You seem to have experience at causing trouble, but I'll put a good word in for you anyways," she grins, then flees through the crowd.
The shopkeeper didn't seem to be missing his blanket, so she tossed it around her head and shoulders like a shawl, wrinkling her nose at the musty runnerbeast scent. After putting a lot more distance between herself and the scene of the fight, Ray ducks between two stalls again, and sends Isskio up to look for those two Holders.
Before long, she's back, cheerfully reporting an image of the two holders brawling with each other. Sighing, she decides it may be best to just make a quiet retreat back to Fort Weyr; surely Wrath would send someone to pick her up?
Surely not! You haven't so much as exchanged pleasantries with the Lord Holder. It would be a slight if you attended and didn't greet him formally.
Ray winces. Wrath was right. She pulls off the makeshift disguise, folding it carefully over one arm. Well. First things first. She finds a stall selling uselessly frilly hats, and purchases one that's certain to draw attention. At another stall, she acquires a frivolous cape, which covered most of the distinctive embroidery on her dress.
Satisfied that her appearance has been adjusted sufficiently, she sets out to return to the dancing square. She thought she'd caught a glimpse of Tolara there, hopefully Fort's Holder was in the area.

Tara_Nepion The vendors mouth turned sour again. "One through ten, for the knife." It was a fairly nice knife, with a smooth handle and sharp edge. Reina managed to keep a smile from her face. So she'd gotten it right again, had she? She let her gaze fall on the knife... rather nice, really. "One through ten," she softly whispered to herself, her gaze now focusing inward as she concentrated. After a moment, she again faced the man, inwardly hoping to see his face turn a little more sour. "Seven," she said, watching the pots without seeming to.

Darek smiled as Jyn perched upon his shoulder and looked up at the warring flits with pride. It was something Darek had seen the brown do before, though usually it was usually done so as to take away prey or steal a tasty morsels from wild fairs.
"Rayinte," he said the word carefully, "I think I've heard that name before." He looked after the woman as she disappeared into the crowd.
"That was oodles of fun, can we go now?" he asked the flit over the commotion. Jyn chirped happily and sent him a picture of the little queen Rayinte had with her. "You are hopeless."

Kael chirp and cocked his head to the side. He placed his forepaw on her ear and peered at the other side of the gather with interest before launching himself into the air and flying off. Aoki moaned and jumped up. Carefully, she picked her way through the dancing crowd trying to keep an eye on Kael.
Suddenly she spotted the little flit in the middle of a large group flying around. Then she realized they weren't just playing, they were fighting!
Aoki rushed forward, "Kael, you dim glow! Get back here! You're going to get hurt!"
She turned to dodge a holder who came up in front of her. She saw Kael dip his wing to slide between two fighting flits. Before she could turn back, she slammed into a boy who'd been standing and watching with his brown flit. They tumbled to the ground.
Aoki turned bright red and looked down at the boy she'd knocked over, "Sorry! Sorry! I'm so clumsy!"
She scrambled off of him, blushing furiously, "My flit took off thinking these flits were all playing..."
Kael swooped down chittering nervously and hovering in the air above Aoki's head. She smiled, "I'm fine... really."
She turned back to the young man, a harper by the looks of it, she'd knocked over, "Are you alright?"

Nikiana R'ign spotted someone moving closer to her stall and, confident that the gamer wasn't going to rip off the poor candidate too much, or so she hoped, she slipped over to it. Smiling at the young man that had edged closer, she noted that he seemed to like her picture of Klah. "Got a firelizard?" She asked him. Speaking of flits, where was that bugger of her own? Klah had happily found a meatroll and devoured it and was now flapping about the Gather. He spotted Rayi talking to the Holders and returned to his rider to give her the image of the goldrider preaching to a bunch of wherries with the heads of Holders. Hal grinned as a brown flit appeared near the woman who apprached. "Yeah," he replied, "he's out enjoying himself for a bit." He looked up among the various flits flying about overhead, and whistled. One of them, a warm tan in color, chirped and circled down to land on his shoulder. He reached up to stroke the brown for a moment before nodding toward the picture. "What do you think, Sorin?" he asked the flit. The brown cocked his head, whirling eyes fixed on the portrait, and cheeped. "Would you like to have one drawn of you?" Sorin turned to him and cheeped again. Looking back at the stall owner, Hal asked, "How much woud it be for you to draw a portrait of Sorin?"

R'ign grinned at the sight of the other brown and Klah chirped quizzically at the creature. The bluerider shrugged at the question. "Hmm... two marks?" She left as a question for, after all, half of the fun of running a booth is haggling on the price.

His face soured further and he full out glared at the girl. "One through twenty" he snapped not naming the prize. It was obvious though, as the pots sat right next to the knife.

"Ohh yes.. please get it right" she says holding her hands together watching eagerly, wanting to see if the girl won hoping she did. Kopi landed on her shoulder and chirped curiously Akai smiled and impressed it was a game. The girl Akai was watching was trying to win
"Perhaps if it dosen't cost to much i'll try" she said.. Kopi nipped her ear and akai laughed
"Alright alright.. jsut for the knife.. no more firelizards.. you're so selfish "she said tickling him gently under the chin.
