She met Tora's blue hues and held back her tears, "I will back away then . . ." The young geisha's voice quivered with the fear that filled her very being.

"No!" She cried out. "This isn't what I wanted!" She grabbed Iyasu's hand and stared her in the eyes. "You are a dear friend and I want you to be happy!"

Her eyes grew wide at Tora's sudden out burst. She felt her hand in Tora's and batted her eyes in confusion.
"That is why I am backing away . . . I wish for you to be happy."

Tora's face dropped. She didn't want Iyasu to back down, not because of her. She sat in silence, still holding Iyasu's hand. "What are going to do with us? Hopeless in love with the same man." Tora snickered, but a frown was still on her face.

She bowed her head, holding back the tears. "Hopeless is correct . . . " She whispered, "Hopless and in love . . . not a good combination."

Tora shook her head lightly. "Not at all," she said sadly. She poured them more tea.

"It depends on the situation . . ." She shrugged, "Thank you very much. Tora, do you have a favorite maiko?"

"Well, it's hard to say," she said sipping her tea. "Both of my maiko's are doing wonderfully in school and both are very polite and obedient," she added proudly. "Their name's are Hara and Tohru," she said with a smile. "One more lesson and they'll be ready for the tea house."

"That is very good." She nodded, "Hara and Tohru? I'm surprised I have not seen them in music class." She sipped at her tea, "Well, you've met Tanpopo, she's really a sweet girl and also rather shy."

"She'll make a great geisha one day," Tora smiled. "She has a great teacher." Tora took a sip of her tea. "Yes, I don't believe Hara or Tohru are in music," Tora spoke. "When I was a maiko, I took manners and dance. Which did you take, Iyasu-chan?" Tora asked with a smile. She was remembering her youth. Although it was just a year and a half ago she turned geisha, it felt like a lifetime since she was studying her tail off and shadowing her Onee-sama, Serena.

"Thank you," She bowed her head to thank her for the compliment. "I took manners, dance, and history. My Onee-san taught the manners class!" She giggled, "In my class I have only seen, Tanpopo, Ariku and Kioku. Which is fine, I enjoy small classes, but more never hurt."

Tora nodded in agreement. "I didn't have a class with my Onee-sama," she said. "But she did teach me a lot back at the okiya," she smiled.

"Which I may end up doing, since my Onee-san is gone so much. I'll look forward to that. I'm sure the maiko and maids would too."

"Yes! Do you enjoy teaching, Tora-chan?" She asked. The earlier subject had fleeted her mind for a temporary time, which is what she needed. To dwell on such matters is never good for the heart or mind.
