I'm pretty sure if Suikoden doesn't go soopah-mainstream, it's quality won't suffer very badly. It has been going on a slight downhill slant ever since the first game... But it's certainly not Final Fantasy. I just hope Konami keeps making a few good solid games, not a shitload of bad ones.

Yeah me too. Not hearing about the next Suikoden yet in some ways is a good sign. It means it might have some good developement time under it's belt. That's if they are even working on it anyway.

I really hope that news of Konami cancelling a lot of RPG projects doesn't pertain to Suikoden... That would make me so sad. I read how it wasn't possible that it was Suikoden, but I have my doubts...

I just really hope they don't announce it soon and like, tell us it's coming out in three years. That wait would ******** kill me. Does anyone have the dates from when Konami announced the NA release of each game, and the dates they actually came out?

Nah, I myself have been very behind in gaming news. Last thing I saw or heard was the Umbrella Chronicles commercial in Gametrailers

I think it would be cool if they got into the War of Succession that they talk about in the first game.

Yeah, I remember after beating Suikoden 3 how I would fantasize about a Suikoden 0: Rise of the Scarlet Moon Empire. Of course now I'm getting a little tired of prequels. Everything is pre-queling now... Silent Hill, RE, MGS, Tenchu, you name it.

Tactics 2?

I enjoyed Tactics, and Suikoden lends itself to SRPGs quite nicely. I can see them returning to that style for stories that they can't expand into a 108-Stars epic story game, but are important nonetheless. The story of Tactics 1 would've dragged on if it were Suikoden V, but it worked for a side-story.

Others that could work in this scenario are the Higheast Rebellion, the First Firebringer War, the Falena-Armes Conflict, and probably a few more that I'm forgetting.

You mean prequels to I, II, and III. If the new installments don't go further back than IS 302, then it's a sequel to IV and possibly V.

I'm still used to the first three being the main time line and things before them being prequels. Basically, I mean I'm getting sick of the random locations conveniently being brought up and making an already huge loose-end pile even bigger. I think they should definitely finish what they have on their plate before adding more.

Tactics 2?

A word and a number that truly belong together.

If the Island Liberation War, Fall of Kooluk, and Falenan Civil War were just randomly chosen and conveiniently brought up for more games, then so were the Dunan Unification and Second Fire Bringer Wars.

There will be loose ends until the final game. They don't have to immediatly go back to IS 475, and frankly, they shouldn't. We've got over 800 years worth of history to explore, and I'll be damned if Konami couldn't make something of it.

Suggesting that they cover many countries in one game without it being a horrible mess is just silly, too.

Well the thing about the Dunan unification and Fire Bringer wars was that they continued the previous stories and brought the series yet another step closer to a finish. But what they're starting to do now is just coming up with infinite locations and timelines and not really progressing anything. If I thought Konami was doing it to richly fill up the history of the series I'd live with it, but I have the feeling they're just using it as a cheap way to make infinite sequels and at this rate it feels as though they'll keep making them till it turns into another Megaman.

Anyway, the way I imagine them encompassing so many places in one game is sort of like the way TES series has done it. You can spend a chunk of time exploring a places capital (or a place in the country with some significance to the story) and read about past events/history through in-game novels, and stories/legends told by the locals. You don't need to make a 100+ hour game of every little nook and cranny of the world to get the full impact of the history IMO. You could also have a multiple character system like Suikoden 3, each character from a different place, and have them come together by the end for the grand climax.

I really hope Konami doesn't keep making up random countries. Please work with the ones we haven't gone to yet, please.

I personally hope it's the next game. Just because it takes place in Harmonia doesn't mean it's the last game, although it is the most logical. I just really, really want to go to Harmonia. A few years (read: 2) after Suikoden 3... so that way ALL of the Tenkai's up to date are all alive. Hoorayz.
