A bit too take stock of the situation was in order. For one thing there was a guy with a big sword. She had come along just in time to see him swing it at a smaller guy. And now the other one was moving in with a staff. Then there was a women doing something, looked to be moving in towards the fight, several people lieing prone or getting up.
"s**t." First instinct was to turn and run really. Bad place to be. Instead she quick made a decision involving not wanting to get shot in the back or something.
Obviously the guy with the sword had started it. At least he was the first one she saw making a move. Still leaning against the wall she rotated her wrist around in a few sharp turns. Had the effect of a crank as a lenght of lights unraveled and slid down onto the ground.
Not very imposing really. At least not until she pushed off the wall, swayed a bit, and stopped moving her wrist with like six feet of it snatched up into her right hand from her left side. Still not very threatening. Least not unless you payed careful attention and noticed that the lights glowing fiercly bright and making a very 'humming' sound.
Yeah man, her weapon was as weird as her huh? Also useless kind of as the little guy was in close like that. Instead she just started moving in a large circle around them, attempting to not get get in the way, or get behind the sword-guy. OOC Assuming I would not notice the silenced gunfire in this state.

Over there! On the horizon!
...okay, it wasn't really the horizon. But a group of men had managed to cross the debris in the lake and were clammoring onto the parts of the ruins that stuck out of the water.
From there they would assess the situation.
The group contains: - 8 goons, moderately armed. - 7 goons, lightly armed.

Unfortunately for Sunstrike, moving in close to a guy with a big sword wasn't as foolproof as one would think. While the weapon appeared to be heavy, it was actually quite light, making it easy enough for Athan to readjust the weapon for another attack by the time Sun had come down under his guard. Athan had his sword raised above his head. Point facing directly upwards.
Sun's foot came down atop his own, just about the same time that Athan brought the pommel of his weapon and the entirety of his weight crashing down towards the base of the man's exposed neck.
Athan would probably still be hit if Sun continued, but the force of the blow wouldn't be nearly as much as it would have been with a very strong man forcing tempered metal into a fairly weak portion of the body. Hell, if Sun took the entirety of the impact, he'd probably end up being paralyzed.

((You notice a little bit of red glow from way over there? Keen eyes you've got.))
Alright. So as Flare was disoriented, looking around after the blast...she was shot. In the side. The same one that had been wounded at the dam earlier. The wound reopened, beginning to bleed again..not to mention it looked bigger now, thanks to not having hit exactly in the same ********>
She went charging forward, ducking and weaving between the shades, using their bodies for cover. The motion was sending her up towards Athan's right, Sun's left...they'd be able to see her desperately fleeing towards them, and she'd be able to see them.
((No fireball at Athan yet, but I'm still heading towards that little battle. And putting shades between myself and the gunman.))

The men climbed onto shore; rifles slung over their shoulders as they did, but soon readied them once they were upon solid ground once again.
"Give 'em hell!" one shouted, taking initiative.
And at that, the fifteen men charged forwards into the ruins.

Exposed neck? Sunny was looking down at Athan's shoes? Considering the next to nothing distance between the two characters that would have been a little hard to do without some uncomfortable head against chest stuff, as well as guessing where the hell Athan's jaw was.
Mind you...it did mean that the hilt of a very large sword was coming down upon Sunstike's head, meaning to crack it like a walnut. Sun bottled the attempt at the jaw and again threw himself backwards, gaurd up.
He had to rethink his strategy if this guy could move that sword around so easily. But he did know that he sure as hell didn't want to get caught out with that yellow beam.
surprised oc Twitch, I gotta preview more often man...!XD
He blinked in surprise when both Flare, and the strange new woman cropped up.

He'd follow the target, and continue firing shits, though these ones would probably hit the shades which were still mulling about the field. When his clip emptied, he holstered the weapon, not even bothering to reload it yet.
And as he jumped from the high area, onto a suitable landing point, his left hand reached for the combat knife at his right shoulder while his his right hand reached over his shoulder and tore the kikri from its harness on his back.
"Kill'em all." he shouted with his grating voice, electronically buzzing to the goons and the five UGH soldiers that stormed the area from the makeshift bridge which use to be the dam.
He'd descend some more, into the fray.

((Well it was aimed at the base of the neck. And since Athan is standing directly over you and you're coming forward, it makes sense that his sword would head towards the point where the neck meets the back, which would be easily available if I'm thinking this the way it is..but, whatever, this all works.))
Sun moved backwards, and Athan's sword hit nothing. This did allow him to reset his stance, but little more was achieved at the time being. That woman was closing in again, and he didn't know how much longer he'd be safe from her. Injured or not, she was still a threat if he had his back turned. There was a guardian angel overlooking him somewhere, he just couldn't tell how long they were going to be there.
No time to think, no time to rest...give 'em hell.
He was already lunging towards Sun again, his left hand leaving the hilt of one sword and moving to rest above the pommel of another, smaller weapon. This time there was no slash, just a straight up thrust towards the midsection, aimed slightly towards the left (Sun's right).
((I am...definetly running out of time.))

The miner goons tenatively advanced through the ruins, until they reached the field. If they came across a shade they would engage in battle. If they came across a mercenary they would withdraw... still remembering the frightening displays of power from the day before.
However, they would advance... slowly but surely... taking pot shots where they could safely do so.

NPC's these may be, a lot of them they may be, but lets not forget things about the shades, hm?
Needless to say the rooks at the very least were just as combat trained as the goons were, and they all just wouldn't mill around waiting for dark matter to spill onto the ground. This was a defensive position after all.
The goons would meet the first resistance at the embankment. Four towering rooks, bolstered by a singular bishop.
Guns and shouts were taken as an obvious threat and dark musceles in morphic bodies flexed and made weapons. The goons themselves would find themselves rushing into four very large and imposing axe's out of durable plate armour.
The clash was immense as they swept down into the troops.

Luckily, one of the UGH soldiers were equipped with a grenade launcher. A grenade launcher of course was fired right into the wall of opposition the reinforcement would meet, following that, armour piercing rounds of assault rifle fire.

Flare would continue to weave for as long as she thought fire was coming at her, which brought her much closer to Athan and Sun's battle than she would have liked. Within ten feet of Athan and Sun, nearly directly to Athan's right side.
Not hearing/seeing any more shades being hit by bullets for the moment, Flare took this opportunity to unleash her gathered energy in a fireball, aimed at Athan's right side, just above his waistline. She wasn't too worried about hitting Sunny; the fireball was about the size of a basketball, and, besides, she thought Sun was fireproof.

Far away, above the Northern Climb, Stryphe was reminded of the curse put on him by Sunstrike when he went into a minor trance.
"The hell..." He shook his head, speaking to himself out loud despite the noise of beating wings with the span of nearly a football feild.
"She doesn't know when to quit!"
With that, he turned away from the Northern Climb and towards the Lakeside Ruins. His life took priority over Omikron's ambitions.
((Stryphe has no way of knowing what's going on in the Ruins. Although, since this is where Sey is assumed (since she's logged off) to be. Since the area is under fire, the effect of Sunstrike's spell takes place, letting know that Sey is in some sort of present danger. So, I'm on my way. 3nodding ))

Unless these are the back up troops for Kraun that have just somehow managed to actually BRING one in under stealth?))
