Oh, the early run of Excalibur was wall-to-wall Who references, from cat-eyed Colin to the Weird Happenings Organization & its Brigadier Alysandre Stuart & her brother the Scientific Advisor who looked vaguely Pertwillian, to the whole mad, hilarious cross-time caper through all kinds of insane alternate universes, including one where a Dalek stands in a line of villains waiting to attack the Baxter Building. That was one of my all-time favorite comics while it was done by Alan Davis! xd

Eirwyn That was one of my all-time favorite comics while it was done by Alan Davis! xd Mine too! heart (First thing we've agreed on? wink )Well, the second time Davies was on the book anyway - in the run up to #50, when he was writing as well as drawing. Great to see it's all getting put into trades now. They're up to the Cross-time Caper already so it won't be too long until my favourites see print again. All those references are fun, but I love the Merlin connection so much just because it accidentally turned out to be a much stronger reference than was intented. One more deliberate reference though - pre- Excalibur Claremont has some soliders who're cleaning up after the Juggernaut wearing UNIT insignia and mentioning 'The Brigader'.

Richard_Swift And since Marvel have ended up with Doctor Who's version of M erlin then, if you take everything on surface value, a key character in the X-Men mythos has, by a series of accidents, turned out to have been the Doctor all along. smile o _ O
Oooh.. I'm intrigued. My dad is a big X-Men fan and so am I, to some degree. -is wearing large X-2 shirt at the moment- (Haha, I need to brush up on the X-Men comics now. I'd love to know about all that stuff. I'll have to ask him about the comics you all are talking about since he's a huge comic fan.
@tennantsbutterfly: I've seen the UK version on BBCA a million times, but they have a quite different sense of humor to me. xD (And my mom doesn't understand British humor.) The US version to me is funnier, but I love them both simply because of the Colin/Ryan team. <3

Out of curiosity. Have any of you seen the Carol Burnett Show. There was an episode where Tom Baker plays his character the Doctor. Carol played the screaming companion. I'm still trying to see if I can find the video of it. As soon as I find it, I'll post the link.

Not in a long long long long time.
-is lucky she actually knows what that is- Everyone my age (minus a few people who actually appreciate classic stuff) has no clue what that is. That would be so cool to see! My mom might even watch it! biggrin (she doesn't like Doctor Who)

Zeoronics The latest one is complete quotes from StarFox there's no Dalek in it at all =P If you just randomly watch the crap on during daytime TV (like the house shows and stuff) they say the word TARDIS alot. "Ooh it's like the TARDIS in here!" "It's similar to the TARDIS" it's like... they cant use the words "It looks bigger inside" xD always turns my head though, just incase there is a TARDIS in there. Kinda related, but on the commentary track for the dvd of Shaun of the Dead, someone mentions that one of the houses they shot at looked really small on the outside but was much roomier on the inside, "Like the Tardis." Or something to that effect, anyway!

On The Fast Show the other night, there was a sketch with a box-shaped robot, which was getting asked questions. It couldn't answer them, and turned out to be a little kid inside the box. As the kid-in-the-box and his Dad were leaving, the Dad said "That would have been convincing on Doctor Who!".
There are also references in the Children in Need special of the third series of quiz show QI to the Master watching the Clangers.

Well I don't know about shows but I got bored so I read through some home ideas magazine lurking on the couch, and amongst the endless pages of strange odds and ends and accessories for your house, there was a model tardis! a genuine tardis too, I read the caption for it...
Although the top panes of glass wern't frosted. They never seem to get it exactly right...

Was playing the video game Fallout (wonderful game, pick it up if you get the chance) recently, and I came across this: And when I approached... It left behind a motion sensor, and shortly after that, I got the random encounter that gave you the most powerful weapon in the game. Coincidence? I think not.
