Ivydoll Aona I really don't think Quatre would mind the fact that we're fighting THESE particular ancestors, ya know. The Bedouins and Berbers are totally unrelated, so no worries, there. 3nodding o.o Huh. Well ok, that's good then. ^_^ And no, I don't think he would mind. Then again, you never know with sweet Quatre. But yes, those were my first thoughts when we learned that the other day. Considering I'm not up to date on my history or the war now, I wasn't sure if they'd technically be related or not. ^_^ Oh well.

Ah, what I meant wasn't that the Berbers and Bedouins were not related to each other, but that they were not involved in the warstuffs.
As far as relation, the Bedouins and Berbers are quite similar, and Lawrence of Arabia became a Bedouin, so if Quatre were called Berber in series and TL was a (British) Bedouin, then the relation between each would be highly accurate.

It might not be too far off that Quatre was intended to be a decendant. After all, his father is very European looking as well. However, even if he wasn't, our buddy TL isn't the only Bedouin or Berber Arabian walking around looking like an Aryan. It's just in their blood for them to come out that way at times... it's not actually a rarity.
Man, I really wish I had bought that issue of Animerica... they had an entire set of interviews with character and costume designers talking about this stuff.

I was rewatching the series yesterday and something has bugged me since I first saw the show. In episode 10 (I think it's ten), Heero self detonates because Lady Une targets the colonies, right? I thought that, in this point in the story, OZ was trying to befriend the colonies and get on their good side. But even if they weren't, wouldn't totolly wiping out a colony destroy any trust in OZ? I don't know...it just didn't make logical sense for me to think that Lady Une could view such actions as being potentially beneficial to Oz.

OZ hadn't started their campaign of being nice to the colonies quite yet; besides, the colonists didn't find out about that.

That's right. OZ didn't start pushing the colonies until just before Duo and Quatre made a run for them. The pilots went up to space right about the same time Une was successful in getting the colonies to reject them... which was several months after Heero self-destructed after surrendering. All five pilots left Earth at the same time... or thereabouts. Heero and Trowa perhaps a little later, but Wufei met Quatre and Duo at the spaceport in Singapore and launched with them when Quatre destroyed Sandrock to delay the attacking troups.

That makes sense...but Lady Une seemed serious enough that she would have destroyed one of the colonies then and there if the gundams weren't surrendered. If she had been able to go through with it, the colonies would have definitely found out (I mean, who could miss a colony being demolished) and I would think that would totally ruin OZ's leadership credibility with...anyone...in the future. I just don't see what her logic was there...If she had been successful, did she think it would work to OZ's benefit? If so, was she right?

It would be easy enough to blame the attack on some rebel group, which might actually have had the effect of making the colonies support the Alliance for fear of another such incident.
Then again, who knows?

ChibiDuo meimei-chan quatre's sisters... why have so many of them? wouldn't it have been enough to have a boy and a girl? i know that they were all test tube babies, but why did his father want so many daughters? well, all i need is quatre! heart heart Perhaps his father was going for some kind of world record..? I actually wonder how wide Quatre's family spans, like if most of his predecessors also had dozens of siblings, or if maybe his big family was just the oddball. Also, I don't suppose anyone has a scan handy of Quatre's mother from the manga would they ninja Okay I was scanning through this entire question thing and I believe I can accurately answer this. In Episode Zero is states that all of Quatre's 29 sisters are test tube children. They all came from a time when natural child birth was proibited on the colonies. I am assuming, and I think it is right to do so, that the reason Mr and Mrs. Winner had 29 of them was because he was trying to produce a male heir. Quatre also believes that he is a test tube child... the only one that came out "right" though, if you will. It states however in episode zero that Quatre got over that, which is why it isn't really brought up when he comes home in the series. Now don't ask me if Katherine giving birth to Quatre was illegal or not since natural child birth was prohibited. I am assuming the only reason she carried the child to term is was because the prohibition was lifted. And also because she wanted desperately to have her husband's child. Those were her dying words.

When Heero falls out of wing zero and Quatre returns with him to the earth, Heero is kinda glowing. What is that? And how did Quatre know about the whole..."is it someone from earth?" thing? I figured it's either strange or I am missing something pretty big in the picture (which wouldn't surpise me!!!) Any ideas?
