I'm sort of lost about what we were talking about. Seems like it went from a suggestion about ways that folks from the Guild could go and contact each other and do internet buddy things to... bigger stuff. Not that there's anything wrong with thinking big... but, yeah.

On an unrelated note, would the mods like a mod-only subforum to handle administrative stuff? Not that we have anything secret to talk about, but if there's a need, we could ditch the Recycle Bin for that purpose.

Hmmm..
well, how about we just start with the smaller ideas, like that PM/email/AIM list, or the newsletter sort of thing? So everyone could get to know each other better, I think it was...or something along those lines..?

And sure, if we mods wanted to plan something, like a guild event or whatnot, it would be good to have a mod-only thing, so that nobody would be able to just get the solution to whatever it is...or just for admin stuff, but otherwise I don't know what else to do with another subforum..

Continuing with the webpage idea, you could treat it the same way you do Scarfie--you make the account where ever you decide to do it, then share around the password to the people in the crew who will work on it. Needless to say you'd better agree on the appearance or whenever someone comes in who doesn't like the background or something they'll be changing it all the time. smile

Hmm, a website would be kind of cool, but you'd still have the whole issue of what to actually do with it. Also, if we were to do a website, we'd want to make sure it looked good. Now I know a bit of web design stuff, and have a friend I can call on for advise, but I'm no real expert in that area. However, I do know a reasonable amount about good design principles and web standards. I suppose if we wanted something that on the one hand was nice and straightforward to set up and work with, but that we could still expand upon to get looking really good then we could always set up a profile or group on VIRB, which is a really nice social networking site which hasn't really gone mainstream yet. It's a pretty nicely designed site, the profiles look good, and you can add a lot of customisation - even your own CSS.

On the subject of a Moderator subforum, on the whole I'd say I was probably in favor.

I definitely support a Mod forum, though I'm not sure it needs to take over the recycle bin.

Also, despite what I said several pages back, on reflection I think a fangirl or actor discussion forum would be a good idea. Right now there are a lot of (popular) threads in Chatty Kathy that shouldn't really be in there but that aren't strictly Who-chatter and there are several in the main forum too. There are enough consistent replies to these threads to make their own forum worthwhile, I think.

P.S. I'm looking through the VIRB site at the moment - so far it looks good. In defence of LiveJournal and VIRB and any other sites we really only need a kind of newsletter equivalent site, so most blog-sites and things would be fine. It just depends how much we actually want on the website. But we can leave big discussions for a bit if everyone wants to sort out the forums first.

I say yes to the Mod sub-forum, but I think the Bin is also a necessary one.

And yeah, I think we should start out with sorting forums, etc, and then once that runs smoothly, move on to the larger ideas....

If that VIRB site accepts CSS code, do you think a modified Tektek code for a profile would work? Plenty of people here already know CSS. And if you want graphics, I would help provide them if you want. I have fun making web graphics and background tiles.

As for content, you could post a weekly featured video, have games & quizzes that won't show in the guild, stuff like that. all sorts of tasty Who content. xd

Okay, I can set up the mod subforum. What should we call it? Anything more clever than 'Moderator forum'?

The Cloister Room?
The High Council of Gallifrey?

Ooh, I like that last one! mrgreen
What about: The Death Zone....I know it sounds strange, but hear me out. mrgreen

I was looking through my Five Doctors novelization for ideas, and this quote hit me..kinda...

"The Death Zone. A place known to every Time Lord, but never mentioned, never visited. Closed off, forbidden, sealed off behind an impenatrable force field from the rest of Gallifrey. Custodian of the Dark Tower - and of the most horrifying secret in Time Lord history."

Although, I don't think we have any kind of horrifying secret.... rofl

This is just a suggestion but we need more advertisement not just banners but rp's and flyer's and....we need a TARDIS esque random chat room that we could call the TARDIS Forum!

We need also a timelord academy for those who want to learn more about Doctor Who with a mule account called 'Romana' or 'K-9' to monitor it.

I can do these things people we can do it together!

Hmm, that's an interesting idea. Definitely worth looking into.

I don't really know any CSS myself, but this would seem like an ideal opportunity to learn. And graphics are always fun to do.

That all sounds like a pretty good idea to me. I know it can have videos, and while I haven't come across anything for including games specifically I know that you can devise your own modules if you have a bit of technical know-how.

Those are all good names, though perhaps 'the Death Zone' would be more appropriate for the games/RP subforum? At any rate... I've arbitrarily decided to go with Eirwyn's 2nd suggestion. We can always change the name to something else if someone comes up with a better one.

Great! A mod forum. I was about to suggest we should move this thread in there but actually it's more of an all-inclusive one so it's better here.

One thing, I would probably put MODS ONLY in the title or something, if we're being strict about that sort of thing.
