LOL I went to a jazz concert tonight. Awesome group, drummers were really amazing. I know one pretty well. Well they were playing the Queen's Suit by Ellington, I don't know how much you pure marching drummers know jazz... but it's like... the greatest Ellington piece ever. Made for the Queen of England. But the last movement has this super loud kind of tom part, and he was using a sort of timpani mallets to get lots of sounds out of the drums. My friend was playing a tambourine part up front in front of the set a little bit.
Well the set drummer... snapped a head off the stick cause he was monkey arming so hard. Went flying up into the air like 20 feet. Landed on a conga in the back ground. Like I said... the group was amazing... but it was so funny... so anti-climatic. My friend up there... completely breaks the amazing persona and professionalism they were exuding and just starts cracking up, barely able to keep playing. WAS AWESOME smile Never seen a jazz band turn rock like that.

And after that was the potholes, gutters, and one fire hydrant. Yeah, I did say fire hydrant..... I was sandwiched once, too, inbetween top and third bass. They forgot where the next set was....**sweatdrop**

*randomly jumps into the conversation* yea...well,marching season is over for us,so now we can practice for next year, yaaay! im thinking of staying on my drum, Miroku-the bass drum of DOOM!(i play 2nd) iv grown quite fond of it, even though its heavier than the better 2nd drum and its confused(it sounds between a 1st and a 2nd sweatdrop ) although i was pondering the idea of trying quads...but i dont think im ready for that (still a fishy.. xp dont know much)i'd be the first female quad player at my school....any thoughts on wether i should stay with Miroku or venture into the unknown and go with quads?

running over stuff huh???? one of our bass drummers, ran into a ((what looked to be a)) Brand New Car... Dents everywhere.... driver said she counted 8... but I think she was full of it.... we were walking back from a pep rally, playing the cadence... she couldn't see over the bass drum and... wham... right into the hood of the car... now the school's insurence has to pay for it... I believe it's about $557 dollars... suck... and the band was just getting a good reputation.... so long, it was cool for the one week we had it... sweatdrop now everyone's going to kill us.... sad
