A mellophone is the marching band equivalent of a horn, like sousaphones are the marching equivalent to tubas. I have it on good authority that it is rather difficult to march and play a horn (play well, at least) at the same time. This is a mellophone:

I may actually get it for Christmas! I can't wait. The ones we have now are like gold and chipping and horrible.

Walking to get music and back ot my seat in concert band while playing at the same time made me wonder how horn players did it in marching bands. Now I know :3 Kinda makes me wanna pick one up, but our school doesn't have a marching band :\

well thats a hard question...its sort of hard cause you can make a HUGE variety of notes with one way of setting your embouchure, and you have to find just the right way to set your lips to get a right note. high notes are hard, too cause you have to tighten up alot (but since you play trumpet youre probably familiar with that) but once you get the hang of it, its a breeze.

It makes the notes you play sharp or flat depending on how you cup your hand and how far it is in the bell.

the most fun French Horn thing to do is to play scales with only just your right hand. It's sooo hard to learn at first but after a bit of practice it's great to show off with.
