Doc spotted movement on the security monitor. Focusing in on it, he realized it was Yvette, Adoma, and a... blob. They had quickly reached the door, and Doc spoke into the intercom. "You two can come in. Leave the blob outside," he stated, buzzing them in and getting up from the desk. He'd meet them in the lobby, where hopefully the blob would not be. He didn't even want to know what that thing was.
He knew what this was about, though. And it made him rather happy to know that another one of his projects... ok, he thought of them as his children sometimes... grow up a little. He was especially fond of Adoma, with her newly-discovered love of Shakespeare, and had purchased her an unabridged volume of his complete works as a birthday gift.
He could not say that that fondness was extended to Yvette.
However, he didn't really extend that fondness to many of the parents. He just tried to be polite.

Peaseblossom frowned at Bluma petting her smooshy head a bit then went inside with Yvette. She was so excited to see Doc and find out what was going to happen.
Yvette walked into the lab Peaseblossom going a bit ahead of her, "Doc guess what I got a gift from Yvette's boyfriend. He's a genetic sciencetist, and so he made me a pet named Bluma. She's a living animal pet thing! Titania and me enjoyed reading Romio and Julliet, it was so nice. I like the part where she finds out who Romeo is, and how their families hate eachother. It was really depressing when he killed himself."
Yvette looked confused, "Wait romeo died! Dude that sucks, what happened to Julliet?"
Peaseblossom looked at Yvette smiling, "She killed herself. I didn't really like her, she was kinda stupid."
Yvette grinned nodding a bit, "Dang that is really depressing, it does kinda help to read the last ten pages."
Peaseblossom tried not to laugh, looking back at Doc, "Mommy told me it's my birthday, is that true?"

Doc couldn't help but smile down at her. "It is," he said. And then remembering the process of growth, he decided that it might be best if Yvette didn't come along.
But then again, she had a right.
"If you two will both just come into the lab with me..." he stated, motioning for the ajar door across the lobby.
And then he was off walking to it and expecting them to follow.

Peaseblossom followed Doc smiling happily, " Yvette is finally getting use to not having to feed me food. It is nice though, because I have play food. So I can have cake and feed it to Titania too. You should come over for dinner sometime. Also how do you know if it's my birthday or not? What keeps someone from just saying everyday is their birthday!"
Yvette followed not interrupting. She was happy Peaseblossom was finally not locking herself up in her room to read books. Yvette found that strange and anti social to read all the time like Peaseblossom did. She was hoping Doc would make Peaseblossom more social in this new stage. Since she was going to be a Pre-Teen.

Doc stopped dead in his tracks. "You're not feeding her?"
He would have to look into this. Logically, Peaseblossom should be in a coma by now. "Yvette, she has to eat. Her body runs on simple sugars." He dug in his pocket for a moment and produced a few candies. He handed them to Peaseblossom. "Eat them. They're good for you."

"What You said she couldn't eat! The movies even tell you not to feed robots," Yvette shouted shocked, attempting to defend her actions.
Peaseblossom slowly took the candies putting them all in her mouth, " Thank you Doc. These taste nice, what flavor are they?" She moved the candies to the side of mouth making her cheek buldge out as she spoke.
"Nevermind what flavor they are, Why are the movies lieing to me!" Yvette added quickly starting to shout at Doc. She clearly was one of those people whom thought reading how-to books would help you raise your kids. In her case it was watch the happy-family movies, since she didn't read much.

"Cherry, I think," murmured Doc, leading them into the lab. It had been re-arranged yet again so that there were myriad passages and at the end of one a divided clearing with a child sized stretcher.
"Up you go!" Doc chimed, lifting Peaseblossom onto the cot. He picked a strange rod-like object up and smiled reassuringly at her. "I need you to lie down and relax. I'm going to wave this in front of your face and it's going to drain the charge out of your body. Like going to sleep, okay? It won't hurt and you'll be fine. And when you wake up you'll have grown! Isn't that exciting?"

Peaseblossom looked at him swallowing the candies so they wouldn't bother her as she slept, "I like sleeping, I sleep alot lately. Mom doesn't like it though, she wants me to be more socialable."
Yvette nodded as she spoke pushing Peaseblossoms hair out of her face when she laid down, "Yea you sleep to much and when you aren't you're locked up in your room" It's not healthy for a child your age."

"It probably has something to do with someone not feeding her," announced Doc grudgingly. Without further ado, he waved the stick thing in front of Peaseblossom's face and watched as her green eyes became dull.
And then he looked at Yvette. "You must never repeat any of what you see to her," he said sternly, moving the room divider. On the other side of it on a slightly larger cot was what Peaseblossom would look like aged four years or so from her current state. He stepped back to the the occupied body and removed her brain chip and memory sticks. The stepping carefully across the cable-littered floor, he slid them into the head of the new unit. As a final measure, he slid the cot with the old body into the corner and hid it with the room divider, being sure to snatch Titania out of its arms.
Finally, he waved the bar across the new body's face. Her eyes lit up and she sat up and looked around in a way that was definitely Peaseblossom. "I had a bizarrely marvelous dream."
"Look here," Doc instructed, holding up the doll. He pulled what looked like a button out of his pocket and pressed it to the doll's back. The air around it was hazy for a moment. When it cleared, Titania had sprouted a pair of irridescent blue wings. "That's nanotech. I've built it into you so you'll grow on your own now. And one more thing."
He retrieved a thick volume from the desk and handed it to her.
"The complete and unabridged works of William Shakespeare. Happy Birthday."
Peaseblossom has grown to Pre-Adolescent. Please write the details of her dream in her journal.

Peaseblossom face completely lit up with excitement, "Complete! Doc thank you so much!" She flug her arms around him hugging him, the book, and Titania.
Yvete frowned a bit kind of mad at Doc for scolding her like a child, she thought of herself as an adult. "Peaseblossom we're going, we'll pick you up some candies on the way home."
Peaseblossom grinned letting go of Doc slowly getting off the cot looking around happily. "I can't believe I grew so fast, it's amazing what some cherry candies can do. Thank's Doc so much, I'll visit you soon. "
She quickly followed Yvette out whom didn't even saying good-bye to Doc. They both quickly disapeared from the lab and then from the sercurity camaras view.

Normally when Amyla got a summons, it heralded a significant life change. Summons for school and job interviews, letters to announce accepted applications, appointment times... yes, she was quite used to life-altering announcements and summons. But she normally expected it, or at the very least, she had asked or applied for something that would result in a request to appear.
Not this time.
Somehow, she found herself outside the lab. She double-checked the address and then walked toward the door, edging inside with a curious expression on her face. Propped on her hip, face snuggled into her shoulder, was her youngest child, Aryana, who was sleeping peacefully and ignoring the fact that they had left the house.

Doc had not installed security cams to accompany the intercom, so Amyla was left waiting in the lobby for some time as he dug around in the file cabinet. He knew that a new parent would be coming sometime today, but where was that file? He knew he shouldn't have let Sophie even touch it...
Finally, he found the envelope maked "Rohan". Peeking inside, he noted that the forms were neatly filled out and there was a perfect-looking chip secured to the inside of the paper. Sophie was getting much better at building and programming...
A noise in the lobby pricked his interest. Folder in hand, Doc went to investigate.

After a good bit of time waiting, Amyla was starting to get just a tad bored. She paced very slowly back and forth, her daughter still cradled against her. What was she here for anyway? Had she applied for something else and forgotten? That wouldn't surprise her. With as unbelievably hectic as the house had been for the past few weeks, she could easily have forgotten something. She was a grandmother now. Oh, how frightening it was, along with being so exceedingly joyful.
A little snuffling noise warned her that Aryana was about to wake up, and before she could soothe the girl, Yana came fully awake and realized she was not safely at home in her bed. The baby offered up one long wail and then fell silent, snuggling back against her mother with her usual timid desparation.

Doc strode out of the lab and spotted the woman and the baby. So that's what that noise was! He tucked the folder under his arm and walked towards the pair.
"Hello?" he called. "Amyla, is it?"

Aryana let out a startled meep and fisted her hands into her mother's shirt, refusing to look at the newcomer.
Giving her daughter a soothing pat, Amyla turned to face the man coming toward them. He knew her name? Oh dear. What had she applied for that she couldn't remember? "Yes, that's right," she called back, loud enough for him to hear though not so loud as to startle her skittish infant. Poor dear. She needed to take Yana in for a check-up sometime soon.
