The War Of Two Nine Kingdoms- Part 2

Heavy paws pounded on the rocky terrain as an Arcanine in his prime, ran at full pelt towards his home. He had to tell the king what was coming, and prepare his pack for battle!

About two moons ago, the King had called a meeting for all of his warriors, and their families. He spoke of power. A gift that Ninetales, the foxlike creature, possessed. Psychic abilities he had called it, the power to look forward and know of that which will come, to know what is truth and what is not. Only the most special of these Pokemon claimed it, Elders and seekers.

Why did they have this gift? Because they were the Gods children, but the King asked his men, are we not their children also? And so the preparations began.

Every year Ninetales had been coming to their mountains, getting their powers and leaving again. Not this time, this time it was the Arcanine's turn.

Looking below, Gatsu realized that he had come far enough, and his home was rising before him. Jumping from rock to rock, he made his was to the bottom of a huge crater. It was zagged at the edges all inside, and once you got to the end the Kingdom stretched out all around. There was a red river off to the right side, Lava flow which carried components that they sent to their kind elsewhere.

Off to the left was built homes, families lived in dens which the male would make for his mate and their cub. Straight ahead is where Gatsu was going, into the very heart of Arcanine Kingdom, where their King was waiting for news.

The dark tunnels made him calmer, but getting there on time was paramount and so he did not slow his walk, until he reached the main area where some guards gathered and talked to the King.

"Your highness. I have news!" Gatsu bowed his large head to him The King turned, and regarded the Arcanine with an importance that was not arrogant; however the look lacked any humble qualities.

"Gatsu, I am glad you returned. Tell me, then, if you can. Are they here?"

"Yes, sir." He replied. The King nodded then, and made sure he was listening before making his order.

"Good, then I must ask you call your best fighters forward. We do not have long left. Make sure everyone is prepared, they will not give up this power easily."

Gatsu nodded his head, and left the throne area immediately.

"Only two more days. They will make their trek, and I shall allow them those few hours more. The Equinox will be the last for them. We have waited too long for this, far too long."

King Juro stepped down from his throne; a big rock carved by fire to hold him, and any royal member, while they converse to the people or are meeting with one of the workers. He padded from the large area and headed in the direction of his den.

Once there, King Juro stopped outside for a moment, and then proceeded in to see his Mate, Queen Kaede and their Son. Prince Hiroshi.

The Queen lifted her head from a scroll she had been reading. It was human and though these creatures could not speak human language, they learned to read it. The Arcanine had their own prophecies and scrolls, still it was a matter of keeping up with those that walked on two legs and fought each other for power.

Juro padded silently over to his mate, and nuzzled her before glancing to their son who was asleep in his bed. The king smiled, and Kaede chuckled.

"He has worked hard all day, learning how to become great like his father." She spoke softly, hoping not to wake up her pup. Arcanine usually had a litter of children, but Kaede had miscarried twice before they were blessed with this small male that had grown so much.

The King felt proud at his family, and lay down with his mate to speak more. "He will stay here with you while we go off to fight. This may start a great war with the Ninetales. Yet I do not care, you will be beside me, won't you?"

The mother nodded, and lent close to her King with much affection. She didn't know whether this was good, or what the outcome would be. It certainly did not matter to her, for she was loyal as her kind were, and that no matter the actions of those they ever loved, it would never change the love they felt. "I will pray for your return to us, and hope for victory."

The next morning, as the fox counterparts made their way higher, King Juro gathered all the warriors Gatsu had made ready. All were powerful in his eye, the general had chosen well.

The King paced back and forth in front of them, noting which of his subjects fought for him. With little shock, he realized most every male was there, aside from the workers who kept his Kingdom ever-turning.

Masato, Shiro, Isamu, Tadao, Takeshi and Yuji. Not to mention Gatsu and himself who would fight this coming day. The King nodded his approval of them. "Good to see all of you with to help, now that we are almost ready I will say my piece and we shall leave!"

Juro turned around, to think clearly, as another Arcanine snuck into the group. Aisuri was a female who'd learned to fight all on her own, and been banned from any battle she had ever wanted to join. She'd put the lava rock that supported their paws on, and hoped to pass off as male for long as possible.

Slowly returning to his position in front of everyone, Juro looked at them seriously before speaking. "For years we have been as we are, working here in the deepest rock, harvesting Lava and working beside Magma and other Pokemon, ruling these lands! And for years they have come here, doing some magic and then leaving with gifts that should be OURS!! I am the king, and should bless my people with that which I deem worthy. And this. This is worthy!!!!" Everyone cheered, not just the warriors but the workers and mothers, the pups and healers.

"It's time to go forth and return with power, lets go!" King Juro bounded off, and the general Gatsu called for his men to follow. The Arcanine ran up the cliffs and over, leaving the strong-hold behind.

While this was happening, Hiroshi had escaped his Mother and Nanny, and was also climbing the cliffs very slowly. He was ready to show his father just how brave he could be.
