Rune laughed softly at that face. Some things never changed, it was true. He shook his head and answered Thatz' question after a moment. "Not much, really ... " He ran a hand through his hair.
"I don't see much of the main fighting either. Not anymore ..." When the war had first started, he'd been in the middle of it just as much as anyone. But after he'd gotten hurt once, and not even that seriously, he'd been yanked off the front lines to concentrate on healing.

Gil had, originally, been looking for a place to take a nap, but standing in the sunlight by the ring had somehow made that want trickle away between the cracks in the courtyard's stones. Instead, there was the itching feeling of wanting to stretch. And not in the usual meaning of the word. Turning around, Gil wandered away from the castle and down into the city, towards the city walls. The realization of "I can kill anyone I want, whenever I want" had still not lost its novelty or appealing freedom, and even though he had no reason to join any possible fighting at the shield, Gil wanted to.
"Exercise, Fire?" He muttered quietly to his dragon, still perched and draped over his shoulders.
Fire heaved a sigh, tail swishing, but nodded. In a way, his new master was both easier to handle and just as troublesome as Rath had been...

Thatz nodded in aknowledgment of his friend's unspoken words. He knew Rune well enough to be able to infer the other felt bad for being protected from all the actual fighting. Not that any of them were out of harm's way, but being sent to the battlefield after the attack was over was certainly less dangerous than being placed in the middle of it with swords clashing all around and arrows seeking a hole in your armor. Not to mention the magic. Some of the fights had been particularily nasty.
They were still bloody, that was true, but all of the latest skirmishes had been easier somehow. Thatz' natural optimism wanted to belief it was because they were becoming more skilled at fending off their opponent, but his logic told him otherwise. While they might be more knowledgeable now than before on how to hold off Nadil's army, they weren't that good. Something else was coming into play, and he feared it would only make it that much more difficult.
"So nothing interesting and no word of what's going on," Thatz summarized, slightly let down at this fruitless overture. "Same as always. Jeeze."

Nadil "You're welcome." Ruwalk smiled. "Are you going to go see Tintlet and let her heal you or are you just going to put on some bandaid? Seeing what you coughed up before, perhaps you should go to the infirmary." Ruwalk said as he looked up at Teceous's face.
"Besides, I can patch it up just fine." The Black Dragon officer said to any arguement start Luwalk would have thrown at him as he then continued on down the hall.(( I'm not gonna be here for the next couple of weeks.... ))

Rune shrugged slighlty, lifting one shoulder and letting it fall again. "Not much really changes, does it?" he asked, raising a brow at Thatz. "The war goes on, people fight ... live ... or die. And I start to wonder, is there really a point to it all."
He wasn't being fatalistic, though ... it was truly something he had started thinking about, in the middle of the battle when he had nothing more to do than sit and watch. And at that point, it did all seem rather ... pointless.
Sure, youkai were supposed to be evil and all. But Rath had been a youkai ... and he wasn't evil. Well. Not mostly. At any rate, he had proved to them all that youkai could and did change their ways. And then there was also Teceous ...
((*watches Rune babble on* >.> ))

Thatz nodded slowly, unsure of whether to grin at the absurdity of the morbid words coming from Rune's mouth instead of Rath's or simply take them to heart.
He compromised by merely nodding again and commenting dryly, "I've heard this speech before, Rune." The Knight paused, considering thoughtfully for a moment. "I think it actually suits you better than Rath. You may be lacking the gothic clothing, but the intellectual pondering works more for you than him."
The words were out before he realized they'd take him back to days long past when they would have ellicted an angry response from the past Knight of Fire and a jab or shove to his side or head. Thatz almost winced at the lack of noise.

Rune blinked slightly ... as he actually hadn't been aware of all that he was really saying. "Er ... thanks, I think," he finally replied, eyeing Thatz with a raised brow.
And now he didn't know what to say next ... even with his temper, Rath had always been better at lightening the mood or changing the subject to something completely unrelated.
"Should I start wearing more gothic clothing, then?" he finally blurted out ... knowing it probably sounded stupid, but he couldn't think of anything else to say.

"I never thought I would say this to you, Teceous, but... you're a little ridiculouse." Ruwalk said with a grin. "Alright, if I asked you to go to the infirmary then? It would also get better much quicker if you had it healed by Tintlet." Ruwalk tried to persuade the darker officer.

Thatz stared at his friend for a second then burst out laughing, almost doubling over at the mental image of Rune in a clinging fishnet shirt, tight black pants, and excessive amounts of dark makeup.
"I think Lim might like that," he sniggered, trying vainly to muffle the noise behind his hand. "Although she might want to dye your hair black as well."
He straightened up, still grinning broadly. That had to have been the funniest thing he'd pictured in a while... which was, admittedly, rather pathetic.

((XDD I have them saved from ... somewhere. There's one track where Rune just goes ... nuts for some reason. There's a whole lot of yelling and crashing around xd xd xd ))
Rune blinked at the other, trying to figure out if he was being insulted in some way. Then he made a face at Thatz' second comment. "Dye my hair? I think not ... "

"Aw, you wouldn't look too bad," Thatz teased, still enjoying the thought. "It would be a hassle, though. Would you be able to get it to stay permant with magic?" The question was silly, but he was honestly interested. It wasn't like he had much experiance with magic, having originally been human and having had all access to spell books banned early on by a particular blonde elf.

Thatz toyed with the end of one of his bangs, the hair now growing out and a little too long once again. "What color would I dye it?" he asked bemusedly, the idea striking him as worth a simple discussion for the sake of prolonging normalicy.
"I'm not into black and I'm not going to get it blonde."
