Just before the last ember of the fire that cooked Monia's rabbit started to go out (the "zealous" seller had tried to put it out before running for his life), a purple glow encircled it, growing deeper and birghter. The fire came to an even bigger roar than before as a small, spinning figure in the flames grew larger, raising its arms. Looking closer, you could see a female figure seeming to have wings of embers. She floated swiftly twenty feet in the air with her wings above her head and dropped like a rock, her wings transforming into long purple kimono sleeves. Once she landed, a scar could be seen on her dark skin under her right eye and another above the center of her upper lip. Drawing her gaze from the ashes her feet had just landed in, she started in the direction that Monia had left, carrying the huge gray bag Monia had left behind after giving it a look of appraisal. Even though the bag was as heavy as her own body weight, Dides caught up with Monia just before Monia caught up with the dead man. She put a hand on Monia's shoulder. "You're endangering yourself," she said with a calm, powerful voice. "Come with me," she turned, her kimono flying behind as she strode quickly underneath a large oak tree.

Monia looked at the hand on her shoulder, contemplating whether or not it needed slicing. Upon seeing its owner, she smiled warmly. "Yes. How have you been. And oh, by the way, what are you doing, why are you here, and how did you find me?" she kept the smile bright as she followed Dides and flicked a drop of blood of her face.

As he walked through the forest grumbling he came upon the lake. As he stepped out from the line of trees he saw the elven girl from earlier washing herself. Her skin shining in the sunlight as the water rolled off her naked body. Not stopping to watch he walked up to the surface of the lake and stepped out onto it. As his foot hit the surface of the water, the water froze under his foot. He proceeded to walk across the lake in this fashion.

Half way across the lake he stopped, looking into the water. Diving in with a loud splash he resurfaced with a large salmon in his teeth. He ate it as he swam the other half of the lake to get to town. As he walked onto shore he wallowed what was left of the fish and took a deep breath taking in all the smells of the festivals food. The short swim in the lake and the fish seemed to put him in a slightly better mood, or perhaps he just appeared that way due to being in town.

Dides sat gracefully into a cross legged position, talking as she waited for her old aquaintance to do the same.

"I've been fine, thanks for asking. I'm trying to lengthen your lifetime in this world as a human, and I found you as I always do. Your blaring anger!" she gave Monia a once over as a mother would a child. "How did you think I'd have found you, maybe asking along the way? You're harder to track by conventional means than a single ant." she fiddled with something in her sleeve as she eyed Monia's turtleneck, or rather, what made the neckline so lumpy.

Monia thought about just abandoning Dides right there to go kill her attempted assassinator, but decided against it because she'd tried leaving Dides hanging already a long while ago. It had ended up as a battle of the wills, magic against logic. Magic had won, painfully and humiliatingly so. She sat down in front of Dides and waited to learn why her important sorceress friend had taken the time, energy, and power to come see her. "Oh, she's doing it again... but at least this time I caught her at it " she thought to herself.

"You don't have to manipulate my thoughts just to make me hear you out. I'm all ears." She rubbed the back of her neck with one hand and propped herself up from the grassy ground they were sitting on with the other, yawning uncontrollably.

As soon as Monia sat before her, Dides pulled the something out her left kimono sleeve and sliced a diagonally through Monia's turtleneck, exposing her collarbone. Her eyes widened at the huge amount of talismans and charms hanging on the silver chain.

"You have more than before," she growled as she unfastened a silver chain from around Monia's neck. "You said you had no need for any more." She held the necklace with her left hand as she wove a small square into the grass with a gentle sweep of her right.
She gently laid it down, watching carefully to make sure she didn't touch any of the many mazes of magic. Without looking she rotated her hand to repair the cut in Monia's shirt.

"See this one?" she coaxed a particularly tiny hex off the chain with the use of two sticks, not daring to use any magic lest she set off the bomb of magic that lay before her. "Who sold you this? This is a disgrace to the craft of hexes." She looked incredulously down at Monia, her back impeccably postured.

She twitched slightly at almost being cut and having to let Dides take her necklace off, hoping not to anger her any more than unneccesary. She shrugged slightly at the sorceress's growl. "Ah, but that doesn't mean I promised not to get anymore, now does it?" She noted her shirt being repaired and dimly wondered if she could get Dides to fix the rip in her purple boot...

She nodded her attention at the tiny hex and frowned, becoming slightly angry. "Excuse me. I learned from a very good hexmaker. My aunt to be exact. And what are you doing, using sticks instead of levitating them with your mystical mind powers...!" She said in a mock spooky voice.

Dides somehow managed to raise herself, while sitting down, at least two inches higer than before. She cleared her throat and said "Your aunt knows nothing of the art of hexmaking and should have never tried to teach you anything. You would be dead now if I weren't here to save you again. Look." she beckoned Monia's attention to the necklace.

"The conjunction of these two" she separated them from the rest "Will trade your soul for a demons' if you activate this one" she pointed it out "And once your soul is in hell, this talisman will be tapped and your body will morph into a yet unknown creature. It would be ever so unpleasant for you if I hadn't come when I had. I will solve this problem for you by removing these incorrect combinations. Watch quietly and you may learn something. I won't be using magic, as that will inhibit your learning experience."

Monia leaned forward, slightly humbled by the aura of power emanating from Dides and did as she had been offered.

After teaching Monia a few of the trickier parts of understanding hexes, Dides stretched her back. The town she had ended up in was much simpler than she had expected, but at least Monia had been nearby. That was a plus, although she knew that Monia wouldn't appreciate her knowledge for long.

Even though living beings fear fire more than wind because they can see it, wind can create more havoc than almost any other element if provoked or given purpose, reason. The same guidelines apply to Dides and Monia.

Edit: This was just to fill anyone in on how I percieve the elements and how the elements intertwine with monia and darinomi. This may or may not apply to anyone, including myself. xp

Grazelda the InKeeper

PostPosted: Sat May 07, 2005 7:52 am

As she watches everyone leave the tavern, Grazelda begins to put away the last of the things before Nicholas and she step out of the White Bear Inn and lock it. The two walk towards the clearing across the street. The Ring was already set up. It is a 30ft by 30ft circular patch of dirt with six poles surounding it.

They set up their thing and put up their signs.

"Come one, come all. Join and show your awesome powers in the tournament of the century!"

Trudging up to Grazelda he eyed over the fighting ring. Standing there he looked over the town and sighed lightly. He turned to Grazelda.

"I think I would like to enter my name in the competition. Put me in as Mad. Yes, I do beleive that is a good name for me to fight under. Since the Inn seems to be closed, is there a place you could suggest for a good meal by chance?"

"Of course, Mr. Mad."

Grazelda pulls out a slip of paper from a box on the stand. She looks at it and it says "6"

"Aright, honey, your are number 6 so you will be in the third bout."

She turns around and rights "Mad" on the chart behind her.

"There are a bunch of stands that are set up on Steiner Street, the main street, that should be selling food. If you go there , I'm sure you'll be able to find something to your liking."

Lyra gradually adjusted her breathing, and began the task of acoustoming herself to life without a barrier. It was going to be difficult going on without it, but she never shied from a true challenge.

Relaxing in the cool waters, she finally set about inspecting her wounds. Thankfully they were few- small bruise on the back of her head- wasn't a whole lot she could do 'bout the headache that would come later. Her slashed arm was too deep for her to heal outright but she promted the vines on her arm to hold it shut, she had to promiss they wouldn't get cut again...'least not for now anyways.

Nearing the end of her bath Lyra senses a familiar presense, with a half growl she promply asks the water to go reflective. The sun multiplied so is almost blinding, and she sends a small current of energy to n** at his ankle for good mesure, she wasn't really peeved though...just an excuse to be playful, her genuine grin said it all.

When the silent one was gone, Lyra caught a glance of her reflection in the water, and started. Something was going to have to be done about that cut, but for now her main concern was her eyes...that blue color was odd...Lyra willed them back to silver, but had to contend with a steel grey, for they stubbornly would not change any farther.

Climbing out of the water she began to pick though her clothes, grumbling at ruining yet another shirt. She tore a piece from it and set it aside. Dressed in the remainder of her clothes, wearing her pettycoat without a shirt was...different, but once finished she pressed the wad of cloth to her face. Gathering her multitude of weaponry she turned and once again started for town.

Seven rose from his place on the temple ceiling and jumped to the road. He moved swiftly to the fighting ring. He nodded at Mad and smiled at Grazelda, waiting for the conversation to end before he spoke.

"Goodmorning. I would like to sign up for competition. "

He looks over the sign at the numbered contestants, and thinks for a moment. He returns his attention to Grazelda.

"Sign me up as Timmy, I wouldn't want to confuse the numbers."
