Oh, hey! T-rex from Dinosaur Comics on www.qwantz.com is a fan of the word "recontextualize." It is very possible that I picked up the habit of overusing it from him, as has been the case with many things. I idolize that dinosaur!

eek eek eek eek eek eek eek
I'm listening to the song Concentration by Jurassic 5 for the first time in my life, and it starts out with the line "right about now, at 3:01 in the morning, everything else on is probably pretty faulty and repetitive.." and I looked down at my clock to see that it was exactly 3:01am eek
IT WAS MEANT TO BE!

Aww man! I wish I hadn't have missed that muleself conversation (or soliloquy if you will.)..................... whee

An essay on Italics xd Mint. 3nodding

BTW... I found an answer to your question about where Italics come from

The first Italic style typefaces were developed in the 1490s by Aldus Manutius for the Aldine Press. Aldus obtained a patent for the exclusive use of them, although the honour of the invention is more probably due to his typefounder, Franciso de Bologna. The typeface was not used for emphasis as we do today, but rather for its narrow and compact letterforms, which allowed the printing of pocket-sized books.

So they were developed in Venice! I-talics are I-talian! Who'd have thought it would actually be so straightforward! xd

Ah! Wikipedia! I knew someone with no life would have made an entry for Italics in there.

I LOVE this observation...

What makes italicizing any better than using boldface or underlining? I would answer that it is much more discrete. It does not pop out of the page at you upon your first glance, yet it still serves its purpose when you get to it. Truly, italics are simple, elegant, and beautiful.

Italics are also used for:

....* Emphasis.
....* The titles of works that stand by themselves, such as books or newspapers. Works that appear within larger works, such as short stories, poems, or newspaper articles, are not italicized, but merely set off in quotation marks.
....* The names of ships.
....* Foreign words.
....* Using a word as an example of a word, rather than for its semantic content. For example: Cheese is derived from milk. -> Cheese is derived from a word in Old English.
....* Introducing terms.
....* Sometimes in novels to indicate a character's thought process.
....* The latin binary nomenclature (Genus species), in the taxonomy of living organisms.
....* Symbols for physical quantities and other mathematical variables.

Haha! Are you sure it's a good idea to help me find more opportunities to use italics?

Man, I know people who just had a kid. I should have convinced them to name him after sandwich meat. I'll have to remember to take the opportunity next time. Where do pregnant people hang out?

hip hop downloads have included: Jurassic 5, Asheru, Wu Tang Clan, the Psyche Intangible, Jin, K-os, and Ice Cube. Those last three are giving me some trouble, downloading slow. I've got alot so far, but I want more. Gonna try to get some De La Soul, maybe some MOP, Mase, Visionaries, and I'll look up some other stuff to get as well. Ask around and see what's good.

Well you realize Bologna is a place name.. and the meat was named after the area. Like Cheddar cheese is named after the town of Cheddar, England.
