((*throws herself at Oogaly's feet* I'm SOOOO sorry for skivving off like that! I just... to many things... and so much RP readng O_O ))
"I... uh... right. Uhm, I guess you're kinda right there," Howie muttered, scuffing his sneaker against the pavement. He realy had no idea how to handle girls (or people, really) once they started getting upset and weepy. Sure, he manipulated people for fun and profit, but he rarely was exposed to such raw emotion. It made him all jittery-like.
He was quite sure he should probably hug her or something, but that just wasn't his style. "Nah, let's just get you home. Shouldn't have dragged you out like this, baby doll."

[I don't know how to drag Dai into a RP like this... Wheelchaired and all... Oh, hell.]
Joy.
The thought echoed in her mind, dripping sarcasm and spitting hateful words at her as she wheeled down the street. She'd just gotten out of residency, through three years of hell and torture, and she had been reduced to this. Walking... Wheeling, in the poorer part of the city, hoping to find some clients for her clinic, legal or illegal. What she got was insults and stares. Twice she'd been mistaken for a prostitute, and the third time she'd been asked for a 'b-job' and got a refusal, the man tried to jump her. Her response was a tazer up his arm and multiple punches to the face. Dai had a feeling he wouldn't be feeling anything in that arm from a long time. All this, in a single night, for raising her hand and volunteering to the 'Helping Hands and Healing Hearts' project only a scant five hours ago. The project designed by the city to make less favorable people into models of society. The real reason was so the next time the governor came about, he would have some bragging rights and stories to tell to his drinking buddies. F*ck the governor, Dai darkly thought as she ignored a jeer from a nearby drunk.
"Shouldn't have dragged you out like this, baby doll."
What was that? One hand reached for the gun in her coat while the other carefully steered her wheelchair to the direction of noise. The voice sounded manly. At least male. Why would he be apologizing? Had he gone out with his girlfriend and gotten jumped? No, something more minor, by the sound of his smooth, suave, voice. No victim would have that cool kind of sympathy, that slow, deliberate, choosing of words. Her thumb flipped off the top of her tazer button as she debated what to do. Say something, and possibly get attacked? Or come out in the open slowly, then say something? Yes, her mind thought. The girl needs help now. If you get attacked, it might make her shock worse. For her sake. The sobs and sniffles from the female were now clear in the lonely night. It was probably shock, Dai confirmed. She didn't sound injured. Maybe she had been the witness of a mugging of sorts. There were certainly alot of them here. Dai could see the faint outline of their silloutes now. None of them looked dangerous, both willowy and thin, but the male looked like he had brawn under all that skin. Carefully, not wanting to scare, she wheeled out into the open, not directly under one of the flickering streetlights, but close enough to the light so they could see the glint of the plastic ID card she had pinned to her shirt. "You know, you should get her some warm water to drink. It helps shock really well."

"It was the thought that counted. I have to thank you for doing what you did, even though it didn't exactly come out how you planned," she said softly, still looking down to the pavement. She really didn't expect him to try to comfort her or anything; she, herself, didn't know what to do if people got emotional like she just did. She was usualy the quiet by stander, letting other people do the dirty work for her. So she wasn't hurt when he offered no comfort; she kind of expected it.
"But home sounds good..." she told him, starting to slowly collect herself and walk back to her abode. She kept telling herself the was a whole load of nothing, that she was being weak and sissy. So, on the outside, she looked like she was startin to get better. The inside, on the other hand, would take a lot moe work. ((Its okay, just don't let it happen again! I'm just kidding. I was as busy as you were so I probably wouldn't have replied even if you were there, anyway. biggrin ))

((Sorry, didn't notcice you post sweatdrop ))
Jessica's attention shot to the new person, and she immediately straightened her back and cleared her eyes of tears. Her face suddenly hardened into an emotionless stare. "I'm okay." she said, more coldly than she intended. She really had nothing against this person that just showed up, but the new person took her by surprise and she reacted the only way she knew. Act cool, collected, and hopefully make them stop pitying her. It was bad enough that Howie had to see her all broken down like that.

"Of course you are." Dai's tone was just as firm. "Here." She rummaged through her shoulder bag and brought out a thermos. "It's chamomile tea. And you, mister -" She turned to Howie, "Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you might have a concussion." Taking a pen-like thing from her shirt pocket, she turned it over and pressed a button, to reveal a mini-flashlight. Without warning, she flashed it over Howie's right eye. "You have pinpoint pupils. They don't dialate. Possibly a hairline fraction?" She muttered, rather to herself than to anyone else. "Either you recieved a nasty blow to the head, or you use drugs, and with that bruise on your cheek, I believe that's rather unlikely."
Suddenly Dai realized she was being rather rude. In a blink of the eye, the matronly 40-year-old transformed into what she really was - A rather scared, 27-year-old who had stupidly volunteered for a charity project. "Oh. Um... I'm sorry. Uh... I'm Dai. Dai-Tao Chai. I'm with the 'Helping Hands and Healing Hearts' project. Bad name, I know..." Oh, dear. What was she going to say now? In the cover of the dark, Dai flushed a deep, dark, red. "I guess... Well, you're the first people I met tonight... I have a quota to reach... I'm sorry. Um..."
Crap. She was in deep water now.

Oh, great. This was just the perfect time for a regular party to show up-at the height of her emotions and just wanting to go home. Jessica sighed and took the offering of Tea from Dai, not wanting to seem rude.
As the another person called out from not far away, the poor shy girl stepped under the cover of Howie, knowing that he could do the talking. She didn't trust herself to say anything at that point. She kept her deep and mournful eyes glued to the pavement, fearing the hateful eyes of others.
Gently, she sipped the tea that was given to her, thankful for its warm, soothing power.

Gallen slowly walked down the alleyway watching the now three figures. He had not noticed the third one till she had moved behind the male, the second one sitting.
"Sorry if I am interrupting anything, saw the light and what not and thought someone needed help."
As he got closer he started to see the two standing in front, the young Asian women in her wheel chair and the taller young man.
"It is late and seeing folks in alleyways like this looking hurt or what not can cause concern. Like I said sorry if I am interrupting anything. If you need a doctor or something though I have a cell. I can call an ambulance or something."
He smiled, his kind green eyes seem to be bright even in the dark shadows. He was a short young man, probably 5'4", aged around 23 and his blond hair gelled back and spiked in front. As he spoke you could catch a bit of an accent, maybe Irish, or Scottish?

((Yay! PEOPLE! *gnaws on the new people with much luff*))
Howie was a bit taken aback by the woman's forewardness, and he froze up for a moment as she began to rattle off advice, most of which didn't even really register on Howie's radar. When she shone the light in his eyes, he swore and backed up, blinking a bit. Pinpoint pupils or no, the light was still ******** bright.
"Bah, it fixes itself after a while," he brushed the bruise with his hand and shrugged. "How 'bout you get lost, lady? This ain't no time of night for no charity worker to be wandering about in." He spat out the words 'charity worker' like they were poisonous. He'd had... experiences with such people before. And he was playing up the street slang a little, but he hoped it would run her off. His smile was still in place, only much more patronizing than usual.
Besides, what he said was true. She was nice enough to be concerned, and he really didn't want to see her attacked, but it was downright stupid for a cripple to be wandering about this late in a bad part of town. It was surprising that she hadn't been jumped already.
His head snapped up at the sound of another voice, and he barely managed to conceal a wince at the throb that shot through his temples at the motion. "No problems here, mate. We're all just peachy."

Gallen looked at the young lady behind the boy. he smiled. "so everything is alright lass?"
Then he turned his attention to the medical worker, " If ye don't mind I can walk you to where ever, best when you have company, and as for you two." he looked back at Howie and his friend, "I say you should also come. Hey come on, my treat since you all seem to have had a hard night and I am nice guy, we can go back to the studio and get a coffee and you can clean up your wounds." Gallen smiled and winked at the young lady behind Howie.
