well this could get interesting no student strike here in little old pitty regional and the best way to help is get like the whole grade 12 to send a message to the province pm asking them if they would want to get payed with the teachers wages and stuff like that student strike actually don't help matters much

the goverment is required to open all messages that come in in case they come from adults lol sucks to be the goverment

You kids strike to protest against the loss of extra curricular activities, but really your just hurting yourselves in the long run. Your walking out of class might seem like a good idea to convey your feeling about the loss of things like the prom and graduation ceremonies but the government wont respond to actions like “striking” from class. Plus the teachers are still in the classrooms teaching so your just missing lessons that you need to keep your marks up.

If you want to voice your concerns and feelings about the strike the best way to get some sort of feedback is to send letters to your local Members of Parliament and to the head of the Teacher’s Union. Especially the heads of the teachers union because they are the ones who decided to have the teachers stop supporting the extra curricular activities that you students are walking out of class to protest. The teacher’s union are the ones using you students as the bargaining chips to bully the government for more wages.

Deva do you seriusly think that the government reads our letters. Heck in my town when you send letters the government just sends em back with the same message to everyone saying stuff like "We thank you for your kind letter but at the momment we cant do anything about the problem you are having." You see the government wants the people to think they actually care about us but in truth they dont know what the ******** they are doing.

Anyways the strike is over now and most of the teachers in my school are saying its because that he were helping them out by going towards the town hall to confront them.

Also i take offence to when you say you got to keep your marks up. I, myself had gotten the teacher to give me a sheet that i need to keep up. Your going on saying that you think most of the people going on strike for the teachers are people who dont have good marks. How can you even say that if you dont know how it is for many of the people all throughout New Brunswick.

Also you say like people not getting their prom like is a good thing. How can you say that. Some people have been waiting most of their high school days just to go to their prom...and now they dont get it. I mean the prom is supposed to be one of the most wonderfull moments in your life. You cant just say "oh darn there is no prom oh well" When people have allready gotten their prom dresses. You have no right to say things liek that when you dont know how it is in the high schools right now.
Ok first of all, you'd be surprised how many MP's acually do care about what the average person has to say about a certain topic and most do read the letters that come in to them about, or at least someone who has the power to say hey look at this mister MP this person raises a good point. Though if you still think they dont care, then why walk out of class at all?

Now I have no idea how you got the impression that when I said stay in class to keep your marks up you figured I ment only poeple with bad marks are people walking out. I'm saying, if you walk out on a teacher, the teacher is still going to teach the "class" even if only one or two people stay behind, therfore: your missing valuable information that will be needed on upcomeing tests and midterms. Mabey I'm just being biased because I'm a university student and going to class is a major thing. You miss a class in university and sometiomes its really hard to get the missed information or to even grasp what the missed information has to do with the rest of the course. Thats why I said your only hurting yourselves by skipping out on class to protest.

Finally I think its horrible that prom and graduation is cancled, I don't know you think that I think otherwise. When I was in high school, those were major parts of my final year, parts that made high school more meaningfull to me. If I led you to belive otherwise then I'm sorry but I think its a bad thing to lose cause of this thing with the teachers. I also think its wrong of the teacher' union to get back at the government through the kids by getting rid of the activities.

Next time you resond to something try not to put so many additional thoughts and words into the origonal speaker's "mouth." If something doesn't make sense or is vauge, ask for clarification, but don't assume things that aren't there.

When I was in high school in NS we also had a walk-out. Some students from another school showed up so that encouraged pretty much everyone in our school to participate. We went about an hour to the gov building (I forget the name), a few people got out of hand by throwing things (which made us look really bad) and making extremely unhelpful chants. Overall I think it made quite a helpful difference but our case was different because the reasons for the walk-out were different and I believe they ended up bringing in a mediator to settle it.

Anyway I think you all showed that you care by walking out but I expect the government is too slow to react to it so shouldn't try to miss out on too much more of your education. Just adding a random opinion.
