I'm in the same situation with uni stuff.
I've got until September, and all I've done is fritter while putting nothing back. Hooray! D:
However, I am desperate to escape this hellhole, so I'm going back and damn the consequences. Which is irritating, because uni was the hellhole I wanted to escape before I came home.
Gah.
I've had quite a while of free time now. I never thought I'd hate it. If this time has taught me nothing else, its taught me that free time is thinking time, and thinking time is depressing.

You guys aren't alone; I've been looking for a job for over a year now and have been unsuccessful. I think the problem with us (and please correct me if I'm wrong in my assumption) is that we took more difficult classes in high school, so had less time for work, and therefore didn't get jobs in high school before the recession. Then we need jobs after high school, and although we are probably more qualified for many of them than others, we have no actual past jobs to put on our application. At least that's the case for me... Luckily I have a scholarship to pay for my tuition, but I still want a more secure means to pay for books, fees, and art supplies... at least I have a settlement coming in some time... I got TNJ from a car accident. D: Honestly though, I'd prefer not to have a job if I could get away with it. I enjoy my free time, thank you very much.

Also, I didn't need to get a job when in Sixth Form, because they introduced this scheme where us poor kids would get £30 a week just for showing up. It was brilliant at the time, but I regret not getting work anyway. I love your outlook on it. x]

My heart is closed up and I feel it crumbling down...
The reason they won't hire me is because I would have to get my mom to drop me off and pick me up. I don't have my drivers liscence yet so... Dx That's what I think the reason is anyway. =/

Transport's screwed me over before too. I had to turn something down because there were no trains or buses the morning they wanted me there.
I need to learn to drive. I just don't see the point in forking out for a car because I live on a council estate, where joyriding is a popular activity. =|

Ugh, that sucks. Dx
The reason that I haven't gotten my liscence yet is because homeschoolers have to wait until they're 18 to get their learners permit. xP (I wasn't ready to drive at 16, anyway.) Then you have to have your learners permit for a year and a day before you can get your drivers liscence. =/ So I won't be getting mine until November.

Does a permit mean you can drive?
(Yes I am thick about the world of driving =P)

That's cool though, getting payed to show up. o.o I still would've preferred getting payed for the work I did do. I'm fine. I might have to get braces though. XP Dang, that sucks about not driving though. I hate driving, but I was pretty much forced to learn for when I started college; Arizona has like... no public transportation, and my university is way too far for me to walk. And a permit allows you to drive as long as you have a licensed driver in the passenger's seat with you. XD

@Morgey: A permit means that you can drive as long as there is a liscenced driver that is 21 years old or older with you. ^-^
@KitsuneChan: I live out in the middle of no where so I had to learn how to drive as well. ^-^;; If I lived close to the store and all the important places that I like going to, I would rather ride a bike there than drive. xD;;

Yeah, but Arizona is so big that everything is spread out. o.o The only thing I live in walking distance of is a park, and even that's pretty long of a walk. Not to mention how hot it is; you can only walk during the Fall and Winter.

Thanks guys. =D
Yeah, EMA was pretty sweet. £100 bonuses at the start of term FTW.
I'm lucky because I live right next to the town centre. I still ought to learn though. I just had to turn down ANOTHER job, because it involved driving around the country, lugging heavy equipment, which can't really be done on buses. Wah.
That must be pretty crap, having to drive to get anywhere. =[

@KitsuneChan: Yeah, I know. o-o One of my other friends lives in Arizona and when it was 84 degrees here, it was close to 110 degrees there. D= I can't even imagine stepping outside in that kind of heat...
@Morgey: D= That sucks that you had to turn down another one. You should definitely learn how to drive soon. It's super easy. I've been driving for only 7 monthes and I was ready to take my driving test in April. o-o The only thing that I need to practice with is parallel parking. ._.;
Yeah, it does suck. ._.;; I have to drive 30 minutes to get to the nearest bookstore, 45 minutes to the nearest mall, 1 hour to my nearest relative... The grocery store is only 5 minutes away, but it's a red Wal-mart. xP
Did you guys know that Wal-mart is color-coded? o-o Red is the lowest one, blue is the middle, and green is the highest. Green Wal-marts have the best quality goods, but the weird thing is, the green Wal-mart that's 30 minutes from my house has considerably better prices than the red one near my house. =/ It's almost worth it to drive the extra 25 minutes 'cause you save so much more. o-O

I can't quite see the business sense in basically hanging a big sign over your shop saying "Don't bother with this one", but I guess that's why I don't run Walmart.
Among other reasons.

Dang, you're getting bad luck with the job situation Morg. D: I applied to K Mart today, so I guess I'll just see how that goes. You actually get used to the heat when you live here. All houses and cars have good AC pretty much, so it's usually just putting up with the heat when you go from one place to another, or wait for the car to cool down when you start it up. It's when you stay outside for a bit that it gets bad. But dang, stuff is way more far away for you than for me. o.o I live in a pretty built-up area; it's just all spread out a bit. Nearest grocery is about a ten-minute drive, mall is about fifteen minutes, book store is about fifteen... but I also live about fifteen minutes from Bell Road, which is like... the second biggest restaurant road in the US... and because of all the restaurants, they've also got a lot of other places, like movie theaters and game stores. I have to agree with Morgey about the color-coding thing being kind of dumb. XD;;

Yeah. My friends from school are doing a "YAY LETS MEET UP AND TALK ABOUT OUR YEAR, WOO =D" thing, and I'm not going.
Good luck with K-Mart. ^^
They're opening a new Tescos near me, so I guess I can give that a go.
Or jump under a train, either would work.
