Lol. Wow cool. I'm actually thinking of going to Finland next year rather than the year afterwards, but I'm still thinking about it. For one thing, I won't be 18...and that would limit the places I could go to in my spare time...

I was thinking of getting some qualifications to be a tour guide, at least I can use that anywhere in the world...

Anyone got any suggestions?

I love sauna! heart We don't have own summer cottage but I usually spend my summers at my granny's summer place. Pielinen is great lake. And sauna near by the lake is better than sauna in the house. ^^It's hotter and swimming after sauna is must thing to do..^^

Ok, I got another question blaugh

Seeing as it's now Spring, and Summer's coming along...what is the transition like? What's Summer like?

BTW, thanks for all your Sauna comments ^_^

It's rather nice weather here, though it might rain quite a lot at springtime.Summer is really nice here.Well,I have only experience of summers in Lapland. There summer starts usually in June and lasts in August.Last June it was snowing in June, though. eek Temperature may rise to over 30,but that's rare, and maybe too much for me.Usually it's something like 20 to 25 degrees.
Then we have midnight sun.Have you heard about it?The sun doesn't go down at all that night in June.On summer it's really light all the time...and I don't get to sleep too well that time because of that. gonk

I don't really care for meatballs... But I like finnish recipes while we're on the subject. I looked up one yesterday that I'm going to attempt today! Finnish bridal cookies... well that was the name the site gave.

I've never been to a sauna. crying I've lived in america my whole life, and the only places that I've ever been to that have them are like hotels and stuff, but you have to be 16. Well that's coming soon! In march!

THAT is just weird. But I guess I can understand, like many people, naked in the same room. Just for safety? Just guessing....

Sauna. I go only once a week, don't have enough time crying but 15min is the time in there. There I can think, and when I go with my sister as usually, we can talk about different subjects. And saunominen is relaxing 3nodding
We have a smoke sauna, or had... I guess we can't use it anymore, it's so old and... fallen to ground? sweatdrop But I can remember when we went there with the whole family, I couldn't see anything in there... Oh, the memories.

April fools. Yep, nowadays I see my friends fooling eachother and me, teachers try usually something, and then I read some fools from web.

Meheh.. In Maaseudun Tulevaisuus they told that an enviroment departmen somewhere is Pirkanmaa had to have been shut because of flying squirrel's (liito-orava, I dunno what the're in English. sweatdrop droppings. Just right for 'em. xd
zomg, I thought it was real gonk Hearing that was new to me... sweatdrop

I live in the countryside, my dad's a farmer and my mother's a cattle vet... we have pigs blaugh

Hey, when travelling in Finland, could you come and see the best finnish sports ever? Wife carrying competition, Eukonkanto, that is! Summertime in Sonkajärvi is all crazy...

Yep, the Wife Carrying is competed in my home town... rolleyes

Funny though... They must do something right them flying squirrels... I mean when I leave my s**t on someones front lawn, they call the police neutral

But I don't understand why you have to be 16 to enter sauna o.o Have the American government got a little carried away with those age limits or what o.O?

But then again the same country gasped when they realized that we take babies to sauna too so that's quite alot said I guess rolleyes

No offence though o.o;;

Just think about it, we Finns are okay being nude with the same sex (and most of us are also okay being nude with the other sex in the sauna, at least with other family members), but in the US it's really not that simple. Nudity is a tabu to them. Yes, the people who do those bootydance sexist music videos are uncomfortable being nude with other people present. xp

And by the way, their saunas have a temperature of ~55'C... And even though the 'kiuas' may be "made in Finland", there is a sign "Don't throw water on the rocks". They're afraid that the sauna might explode!

Meatballs that are made in Finland are finnish meatballs.

Meatballs made in sweden are swedish.

Meatballs made in india are indian.

xd

I don't think that there really are any "national" foods anymore as people are hopping around and eating basicly the same kind of food.

How on earth you can get hotter sauna/feeling if you don't throw water on the rocks? rolleyes

Well, in US all things have very weird warning tags. For example in those small peanut bags what you can get from aeroplane, bars, etc., is reading "May include small amount of nut". whee
