Word is that my high school's show this year is "Sailors and Whales." Yuck. We played that music in wind ensemble in, like, 11th grade, and it sucks. Plus I think I played it again in college, and it still sucked. Apparently, the show is pretty sad. Doesn' t help that out of an approximate 150-member band, 45 seniors graduated last year. eek Major rookie band this year indeed.

I seem to remember playing that music for concert band my sophomore year... I can't see it as marching band music.

hi everyone. So, I noticed there's a lot of people here who haven't seen any good sounding traditional style bands. That can change! On January 29th in the Georgia Dome, Norfolk State is hosting the Honda Battle of the Bands. You see, there are over 100 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the U.S. At the Honda, the top ten HBCU bands compete (and at the end all the drum lines get on the 50 and face off) for prize money and the title of best HBCU band in the country! My band is going yay! tickets are only $10.00, so if you live in the area it's definitely worth your monies to go. smile From what I've heard, the tickets sell pretty darn fast, so I thought I should just tell everyone now in case anyone wants to go. You can visit the Honda website to buy tickets and find out more: http://www.hondabattleofthebands.com/
