Marcus was starting to rise back up again, when Avari clocks him with a kick to the side of the head. He stumbles backwards, having gotten his bell rung a little there, but attempts to fire back with another right to the side of Avari's head

The second hard right connects and knocks Avari back a step.
Shaking his head he steps forward and attempts a forearm strike to the temple of Marcus!

fans always love a good tradeoff of blows, and tonight is no exception. Avari's forearm connects and again Marcus stumbles back a couple of steps. This time, as he turns back, instead of swinging, he attempts to bigboot Avari right in the face

The big boot connects hard and Avari is sent flying back, right in to the ropes. He bounces back off them and comes forward with a hard clothesline, though he is going down to the mat whether it connects or not.

seems like now is the time to start throwing bombs, and just when Marcus thought he threw the bigger one, he gets knocked off his feet with a clothesline. the big man finds himself staring up at the lights for the moment, and he doesn't much like it

Avari lands on the mat as the clothesline hits, the ref checking both men over. He breathes deep and slowly gets to his hands and knees again, looking towards his opponent.
Making a swift decision he rolls over and attempts to grab the ankle of his opponent whilst on the ground, grappling it for an Ankle Lock!

Marcus is down and Avari goes for his ankle. unfortunately, he's just quick enough to get the hold locked in, and the crowd cheers as the clear evidence of pain from the hold shows on Marcus' face. Unfortunately, they're also in the center of the ring, so Marcus is going to have to escape this the hard way
Pushing himself up on his arms, Marcus attempts to roll forward and fling Avari off towards the ropes

At that particular moment Avari should have been flying, but instead just about holds on to the ankle, torqueing it even more!
That last turn almost got Avari off Marcus though!

Marcus is stuck in the hold as Avari has latched onto his ankle like a spider monkey. time to switch up strategies a bit, as he once again rises on his arms and rolls, but this time he reaches out to grab Avari's legs and attempts to roll him into a pinning situation

The tides always turn quickly in this match as Avari soon finds himself rolled up for a pinfall attempt!
One!
Two!
Avari kicks out but the hold is broken, as he rolls to his feet and turns to face Marcus

Marcus rolls with the kickout and back to his feet, a noticeable limp but unwilling to stop and get caught again. as Avari turns to face him, he attempts to catch him by the throat again, out of desperation looking to chokeslam him to hell

Avari turns, right in to a hand around his neck, as he's got with a devastating chokeslam!

unfortunately, Marcus falls with the slam and rolls to the side, the work on his ankle clearly having an effect here as he clutches his leg, unable to capitalize on his work in the moment

Not that he knew it in that moment, but Avari had finally laid the groundwork. The early stomps to the legs, and now the ankle lock, had given him some restbite.
But Fusion wasn't getting up, as the ref checked over both men and then began a ten count.

Marcus continues to lay on the mat, dealing with the curse of being the Goliath to Avari's David. They always go for the legs. Distantly he's aware of the referee's ten count continuing
