"You're amusing teenager Dan." He said back to him. Kahiau couldn't help but smile and laugh at how Dan was with the Rockruff. Rockruff was enjoying this encounter with Dan and it showed.' I believe I have found Rockruff new partner. Doesn't seem that it's only been a month ago since he hatched from the egg. Dan is the first person that he's warmed up to besides me. They are both enjoying playing with the other.' He thought as he accepted the pen and notepad back from Dan.
After he asked about Sly, Kahiau let out a frustrated sigh as he debated what to say about that jerk." That would be Sly Merrimack, one of the Seafolk here on Poni Island. He's the jerk that broke my sister's heart five years ago.... The woman that he's carrying into town was my sister, Selene Moana Beaumont.I guess he still has some morals left since he's taking her into the village. There's visiting doctor at the pokemon center that can take care of if she got an injury from being thrown. Still not the bast person to hang out though." He said to Dan as he watched them go into the village.
" This is a shiny Goodra and you can find her pre-evolved form, Sliggoo, here on Poni Island. She is big, bigger that most of the other Goodras I have come across. She was my second pokemon that I caught when I eleven years old. " He said as he began giving Goodra a good scratching under her chin. His thoughts were going back to Sly and Selene, wondering how they met up this morning.
The little Ducklett woke up and walked out from its hiding hole. The day looked nice enough so she quickly ran over to a berry tree and gulped down its breakfast. Luckily no Crabrawlers were around so she got to eat in peace. She then ran to a pond and swam around a bit getting its feathers cleaned. With all said and done she hopped out and looked for a spot with lots of space. She got into a position and started to do her Ballet. She never got into the dancing of her adopted family but was able to watch a trainer practice one day and she took to it right away. She started to lose herself in the dance, not aware of what is around her.

"Sly Merrimack?" Dan echoed. What a funny name. He was still on the ground playing with Rockruff but listened as Kahuna Kahiau explained who Sly was, and that the girl he had been carrying was Kahiau's own sister. "Huh, looks like they've made up," he commented. He would just go ahead and stay away from relationship drama. It sounded like there was more to it than that and that this Sly character might be a bad person in general--he did look rather intimidating--and Dan wondered what else he did. "So he's like some criminal or something?"
He got up from the ground so he could get a better look at Goodra, who was apparently a shiny one. Dan had not seen a regular one so he would not have known that. Also Kahiau said that this Goodra was bigger than normal. "Wow, you must've been together for a long time! So who's your first Pokemon?"

"Hmm, I highly doubt it but at least they aren't fighting each other right now. There's alot of drama between those two that need to be resolved before things are patched up between them." He said as it was rough with dealing with relationship drama. Kahiau wants his sister to be happy with someone but Sly wasn't the ideal person that he imagined for her after he stood her up in Kalos like he did. 'Also depends on why he stood her up back then.' He thought before speaking again. " Not before he left Alola, but now, I'm not sure. It could be one reason why he didn't meet my sister in Lumiose City. I hope not for her sake. Sly does have anger issues though and his pokemon are powerful ones." Kahiau said, wondering what new pokemon that Sly might have added to his team since leaving Alola.
"A Goodra's main body colors light violet and a dark purple. The few spots they have a lime green color instead of what you see here." He said to the lad." We have been partners for twenty-seven years now. That goes for my Golisopod that was my first pokemon as well." He said as before grabbing Golisopod's poke ball to let him out. "Golisopod, come on out. I have a new friend for you to meet. He said to his first and favorite pokemon and he came on out.
Selene listened to what he had to say. It was all she could do to not look at him and hold back the waves of emotions from overwhelming her. "Good-bye Sylvester..." She said quietly after he went out the door, presuming that she wouldn't be seeing him ever again... Then the ugly crying began.... Enough to make her sick to her stomach and she leaned over the side of the table and puked. Not long after that, was when Nurse Joy, Dr. Zemaitis and his group of pokemon came in. Oranguru went and began cleaning the mess she made but before that, took her temperature and it was 101.2 F degrees.
Selene laid back on her back once she has done puking and nodded at when he said something about cutting her glove and arm protector. A little nasty voice came into her head. 'Are you sure that you want them to see where you did self harm back then? We can start that again, to nullify the emotional pain with physical pain instead...So much emotional pain is overloading ' NO!!!!!! I'm not going back down that road! No matter how tempting it might be. I won't let you rule over me again!' Selene thought to herself as she had hoped that demon from her past wouldn't rear it's head again but due to things that happened earlier...
She was thinking about it as Horace was cutting the arm protector sleeve off. Selene took a few deep breaths to calm herself. Feeling the cool steel against her skin made her finch slightly. She focus on the coolness of the ice pack and how her face didn't feel as flushed from before.'So the fever must be going down at at least. Next time, I won't wait this long to get my injury looked at. That pain meds I took earlier might have been old as it didn't help with the pain or fever... Maybe that was the reason I puked? Gah... So ready for this day to be over... 'She thought to herself she noticed him looking at the scars on her lower arm and wrists.
A frown appeared as Horace noticed the self harm scars on Selene's lower arm and her wrist. "Are you still doing this? I can tell that these are old..." He said as he hadn't known about this before now. After her dealing with Merrimack earlier, Horace was concern that she might start that up again.
"No, it's been four years since I last gave into that temptation. After I got back here, the temptation came back but kept myself busy so those thoughts disappeared... It did rear it's head a moment ago while you were cutting the glove and arm protector off." She admitted to him before continuing on. " I'm not planning to give into it ever again. I still keep in touch with my support group in Kalos. I can give you the number for my therapist over there if you would like to confirm that. Selene offered to him since he had brought it up. A sigh escaped her lips as he laid her right hand across her stomach after the Indeedee places the blanket there. Then the Indeedee placed the other ice pack in her right wrist finally. Instant relief was felt after the ice pack was on her wrist.
Horace listened to what she had to as he continued to treat her."That's great, and I know that you can continue to not give in to it. I would like that information please so I can update your medical files with that.." He said as he got up to get his rotom scanner pad , that would allow him to do a scan of Selene's like a x-ray without having using a an x-ray machine. Plus no radiation involved too. "Rest for now as I go back to the other room to use my laptop to look at the images I took to make sure that there's no hairline fractures involved. Oranguru, take her temperature again and then get some water and or pinap juice for her to drink. All of you keep an eye on her and help her if she needs anything." Horace told all his pokemon before leaving them with Selene for now. Oranguru took the woman's temparature again and this time it was 99.4 F degrees. Then he went to get the drinks for Selene.

"Huh, OK." Dan was only a little curious about what sort of relationship drama Sly and Selene had been engaged in; he ultimately would rather stay far away from relationship drama. He looked in the direction he had seen Sly go when he had last seen the man as Kahiau spoke of how powerful and aggressive he was, and how he might be a criminal now. Yeah, Dan could see that from his appearance. Perhaps that would be unfair to judge someone on looks alone, but it had been correct in this case and had stayed in Dan's mind. That did not mean he was afraid of Sly. The first thing he was going to do when he was done here was spy on the man and see what he was up to!
But now his attention was on Goodra as Kahiau explained what a normal one should look like. "Wow, twenty seven years! I didn't know you were that old." If Kahiau had been eleven when he caught Goodra, then that made him thirty-eight now. Dan would never have guessed he was that old! He was almost as old as his parents. Dan had no tact. He watched as a new Pokemon came out, one that was big and strong and powerful, and would be scary to have mad at you. "Hi! Can I touch you, too?" He asked this of both Golisopod and Goodra.
Lickitung had poked his head out from behind Dan but re-hid himself when Golisopod came out. Jolteon and Pidgeot still watched from among the bushes and had heard everything. "Hey, we should go follow that Sly guy and see what he's up to," Jolteon whispered to his companion with a little mischievous grin. Pidgeot hesitated, and then nodded. "I feel like it's our duty now, so he doesn't hurt anybody else."

Kahiau didn't comment anything else about Sly's and Selene's relationship as it wasn't needed. He chuckled slightly at Dan's reaction to his age." Heh, it has it's advantages and disadvantages kid." He said before Dan asked if he could touch Goodra and Golisopod." Be mindful of Golisopod's claws as they are sharp. You may pet them. " Kahiau said after checking with the two pokemon and they nodded their heads for yes.
" Rockruff, could you come with me for a bit? We'll be back soon. " Kahiau said before walking towards the village a small ways so the two could 'talk' privately. " Rockruff, do you like Dan well enough if he wants you, would you want him to be your new trainer? He's goofy kid, I'll admit but I like that about him. I got a good feeling about him. You seemed to already warmed up to him earlier." Kahiau asked and said to him as Rockruff looked back at Dan and at Kahiau, and back at Dan once more. Rockruff barked excitedly and then went running back to Dan and rubbing his rocky collar against Dan's leg.
Kahiau chuckled at how Rockruff responded to that. He did hope that Dan would want the excited Rockruff as he walked back over to Dan." Dan, it looks like that Rockruff has chosen you to be his new trainer. Will you take great care of him?" Kahiau asked him, wondering if Dan would want the Rockruff to join his team.
Inteleon didn't go into the pokemon center due to the higher chance of being caught. So he stayed in the shelter of the trees near the the pokemon center, waiting for Selene to come out again.
Edmund was starting to get concerned about Selene and Sly, hoping to hear something from either of them soon.' Hopefully they hadn't killed each other.. What would be crazy if they had already known each other before today... ' He thought to himself, not knowing that the two had quite a history together already. Which he will discover later today in that video that Inteleon was taking right now. Perhaps sooner, depending on what happens later. Edmund pulls out the cell phone that he uses for Team Rocket first to text Sly.
'Is things going alright? I was expecting Selene to be already back at the office by now, even the two of you battled against each other. Especially if you had used your shadowed Arrgon against her. I hope you didn't use it against her... Either way, please update me soon on what's going on. ~ Edmund'
Edmund sent the text to Sly, not knowing what to expect in a reply back from the SeaFolk native. He put that phone away as he thought his Team Rocket co-worker. A part of him was a little jealous that Sly grew up here in Alola where the weather was constant summer feel to it year round. Plus the women from from here were easy on the eyes like his partner, Selene. If only she would give him a chance to romance her.... Then Edmund pulled out the other phone out to send a text to Selene, to check on her.

As if to remind Merrimack of his obligations a message arrived from Harrison. Well at least Selene's safe at the Pokémon Center. Now we can get back to our plan, and hopefully I'll be off this island so she doesn't have to see me again. He sent a reply back to Edmund:
Of course I didn't use Aggron. You think I'm trying to get us caught? That partner of yours nearly broke her arm 'cause she couldn't control her own Pokémon, So I took her to the Pokémon Center, were she can't interfere with our ops. Meet me at the North end of Vast Poni Canyon this afternoon. No one will get in our way there.
He sent the message and continued on his way. Maybe if we're lucky Harrison can get Selene sidelined until we're done here.

Dan imagined that being an adult did have its advantages. Not being told what to do by adults, for one thing, or at least not in the same way because they had no legal control of you. Well, three more years and he could enjoy such freedoms. Not that he didn't already have a vast amount of freedom. Mostly because his parents did not know what he got up to... well actually mostly because they had no hope of keeping him contained. When permitted to touch the Pokemon, he did so, stroking them gently and respectfully.
He glanced over as Kahiau asked his Rockruff to come with him. Dan wondered what they were up to. He watched them go but then returned his focus to Goodra and Golisopod until Rockruff came running back at him. It was barking and he thought it was going to tackle him, but it rubbed up against his leg instead. Dan laughed and stooped to pet it. "What's goin' on, little guy?" he asked. That question was answered when Kahiau rejoined them. Dan looked shocked for a moment. "What, for real?" He looked down at Rockruff. "You want to come with us? We'd be happy to have you along!" His heart beat with excitement and he looked back to Kahiau with a big grin. "Of course I'll take great care of him! Thanks so much!" Dan scooped up the Rockruff in his arms and nuzzled him happily with his cheek.
Lickitung froze in shock. Over in the bushes, Jolteon's jaw dropped while Pidgeot's expression did not change. "Wow, guess we're gettin' a new friend!" Jolteon then said. Pidgeot nodded. "I do hope he's able to handle the kinds of things we do."

Oh it was too cozy to get up! There was nothing quite as lovely as a nap, nestled into and between wool and sheep as the fluffy pokemon snuggled into the mattress. Yet get up she must! The day would have gotten away from her if she allowed herself to succumb to the ultimate cozy. Professor Hazel stirred and yawned dramatically. Wooloo wooed displeasure at having to get up while Mareep rolled over obstinately. It was only Whimsicott who was excited to rise. She hummed appreciatively and politely headbutted Professor Hazel as the woman shuffled out of bed and to the door of the van she lived in. Doors open, Hazel took a moment to appreciate her surroundings. The island was lovely. She could hear a wingull in the distance and watched an exeggutor swaying in the distance. Yes, her trainer network was limited, no, she didn't have the resources a lab could have given her, but that view was well worth the trouble.
Boots on, Wooloo and Mareep settled into their pokeballs, Whimsicott sitting atop Hazel's backpack, she was off. On this day Hazel was checking in on Ranger Selene. Surely there was some news, some goings on or word of a new trainer starting their Pokemon Journey, capital letters. Then perhaps she'd head to the beach and observe the wild sea monsters. Yes, it was certainly looking like a thoroughly uneventful yet pleasant day.
Hazel walked into the Ranger Station and looked behind the counter. No Selene. She walked past the man standing there and looked into the other room, bold as you please. Whimsicott, meanwhile, still sitting on Hazel's backpack, made uncomfortable eye contact with Edmund as she stuffed a razz berry in her face. Where she had found the berry was her own business and her eyes said as much. At least, that's what she wanted the expression to say. Really it was merely a direct, unblinking stare that entirely up to interpretation. Hazel sighed and stepped out of the room stood in front of Edmund placing her fingertips on the top of his monitor screen. She tapped the top of the screen a few times before stating. "We haven't really met have we?" Whimsicott slowly peeked over Hazel's hat so that she might regain that stare with the Ranger.

'Hey Selene, how are things going? Getting a bit concern since I hadn't heard back from you. It's been close to two hours since I last heard from you. Give me an update asap please. ~ Edmund'
Edmund sent the text to Selene before getting a text back from someone else.' Most likely Sly since I had just finish writing that text to Selene. ' He thought to himself, before hearing the door to the Ranger station opening. He got up from his main desk to go to the front counter to see what the person wanted. ' We really should have a secretary to man the front counter than one of us to come over to it when someone comes in. He thought to himself.
Edmund wasn't expecting to see the woman that looked to be in her late forties, early fifties, come back behind the front counter like she did. The Whimsicott was giving him a weird look and Edmund just shook his head at it. He was standing at the computer at the front counter when the woman came back around to the front. He gave her a warm smile as she tapped the top of the computer screen a few times before stating the obvious.
"No, we have not but I have heard of you before. I'm assuming you are the famous Professor Hazel that I heard of from my partner, Selene." Edmund said to her as he did want to check his phone to see who the text was from but didn't since there was someone here. "I'm Edmund Tobias Harrison, one of the new rangers here. How can I help you today?'' He asked her politely as he wondered about the new text and when he would hear back from Selene.
Kahiau was smiling at the reactions of Dan and Rockruff. " It's for real Dan. Why don't your Jolteon and Pidgeot come out behind the bushes and greet their new friend." He said before reaching fo Rockruff's poke ball while looking straight at the bushes where the two were hiding. "Your welcome Dan and here's his poke ball ." Kahiau said as he saw Sly out of the corner of his eye and gave Dan the pokeball.
Then Kahiau looked towards Sly and saw that he was looking at his phone. " I'll put in a good word for you with the other kahunas when I'm able to get a hold of them to approve your request to do the island challenge. For now though I must bid my farewell to you all as I do want to talk to Sly to get his side of the story of what went down earlier. Before he disappears from my sight." He said before giving a Rockruff a good scratching behind his right ear. "Be good Rockruff and don't get Dan into much trouble alright. Goodbye Dan, Rockruff. Come on Golisopod and Goodra. It's time to see what that heart breaker has to say. " He said before walking away Dan and his crew of pokemon.
"Return for now is I don't want to seem threatening to Sly yet with having the two of you out already." Kahiau said and the two pokemon returned their poke balls. 'I hope that I won't lose control while talking to Sly. If Dan wasn't nearby, I would want to go ahead and give Sly a right upper cut to his face as a greeting but I'll try to behave... ' Kahiau thought as he made his way over to the male in question.
"So you finally came back after all this time." Kahiau stated before continuing. " Right now, I only want to know why you carried Selene into the village like you did after the Galarian Rapidash threw her." Kahiau told him while standing in front of Sly and crossed his arms so he wouldn't be tempted to punch him soon.

Merrimack had just sent his message back to Edmund when he was greeted by the very last voice he wanted to hear, The Kahuna of Poni Island - Selene's older brother. The Tapu hate me. He thought as he looked up to see Kahiau approaching him. Before he even had a chance to say anything, Kahiau caught him completely off guard by asking about Selene being thrown from the Rapidash. "YOU SAW THAT!" He exclaimed. "Were you spying on us or something?"

Dan transferred the Rockroff to one arm so he could accept the Pokeball with the other. "Thanks again, Kahiau!" he said. He laughed internally when Kahiau told Rockruff not to get him into trouble. No, it would most likely be Dan and his crew getting Rockruff into trouble, but they would make protecting him a priority since he was the youngest and weakest. "Goodbye!" Dan said to Kahiau, Golisopod, and Goodra as they went over to talk to that Sly guy. Dan paid no more mind to that for now but put his focus on Rockruff. He set the Pokemon down as the rest of his crew came nearer.
Jolteon came running and looked like he was going to tackle Rockruff, but he slid to a stop at the last moment. "Hi there! Looks like you're hanging with us now. We do all kinds of awesome things and go on great adventures all the time!" Pidgeot had taken flight and followed Jolteon from a few feet above the ground. She landed beside him and nodded to Rockruff. "But we'll keep you safe, of course. And most of the time nothing dangerous happens." Lickitung shuffled over timidly now that the big, scary Pokemon were gone. "H-hello. Welcome to our team." He felt uncertain, but then he began to feel relief about no longer being the youngest and weakest, and also about having someone closer in age to himself... though he could tell already that this Rockruff was going to be energetic like everyone else, and not calm like himself. Alas, maybe someday a Pokemon would join them who just liked to chill and eat as Lickitung did.
