It's quiet and you can relax!" she said as she took another sip of tea. ”I don't even remember the last time I had a break...it does sound nice...but we don't have a substitute Librarian, so...I guess I'm a little stuck." she let out a little chuckle before sighing to herself. Odhran's stare never seemed to leave what he could see within the librarian. A trace of what would could guess was sadness passed the dullahan's face but he didn't say anything in response to what he saw. "My concern falls to all people that call this place home whether they are a student or a member of the staff I shall report all issues as required and handle them accordingly if it within my power." The words he spoke where true and he meant every one. The dullahan brought the cup of tea back to his lips as Vivian talked about the him not taking a break in over ten days. No show of emotion at the mention of the time was visible. "I am sure there are people around that would like to help you should you require it, as for your gesture of kindness my breaks are far and few between as it keeps me busy with no friends, family or loved ones. I focus on my job just like I have done for the centuries before I left Ireland to come work here." Rumors only speculated as why the Dullahan had left his home island to come serve as a guard for the university instead of ferrying the dead and reaping the damned. Odhran left a rather uncomfortable silence hang in the air between himself and the librarian before he gestured out a personal question. "What do you like to do for fun miss Vivian?" I understand you enjoy writing" The dullahan said hinting at her hobby for poetry and to one could seem creepy at the sudden reveal of such personal information.

And we can be friends...if you want...I mean! We don't have to if you don't want to!" not that she ever slacked off, but she didn't want to go back to his office. She sipped her tea again and then looked a little surprised as he asked about hobbies. ”Y-yeah...I write...I dabble in poetry...sometimes..." she said with a smile and glanced at one of the books on her desk. Odhran could see the librarian was shaking, quite possibly at the prospect of her mental health and overall energy level being called into question. A sigh escaped the dullahan as he finished his tea. He placed the small cup back on the saucer and just lowering the cup to rest on his lap. He focused more on her as to listen intently on what Vivian was saying about her hobby and the prospect of if he wanted to be friends. Finally his composure broke and he started to Laugh. It was the very essence of death in sound but yet it sounded happy. He had to actually bring a hand to cover his mouth out of curtesy. He followed her glance to a stack of books. Which one she liked though the dullahan could only guess. Ma'm with all do respect and not to be rude about laughing but no one has offered me friendship in over 200 years. The idea of being friends with a ferryman of death scares so many away." His voice actually sounding very joyful then the emotionless tone that was now gone like the fickleness of the fey. "Though if you are being honest with me and aren't scared,Th..Th.that sounds nice to be honest". Odhran's face seemed to be replaced with a rather genuine smile as he spoke. To have a friend would mean he would have someone to spend time with again and lower his work schedule.

It was so...deep and menacing that she debated on leaving that instant to hide under her desk. But she didn't, and just sat there, looking a little embarrassed. ”...did I offend you? I'm so sorry, I-I ddin't know! I just..." in truth, she didn't have many friends either. It made her feel a little better when he said that friendship would be something he would be interested in. ”I mean...why would I be scared of you? You've been here since I was hired...and all you've done is protect people...I don't see a reason why I need to be scared...aside from that laugh." she said as a joke and laughed a little bit herself. Then she looked down at her desk and her smile faded. ” I don't...have a lot of friends. Odhran kept a hand over his mouth to hide the giddiness that came from seeing the librarian jump as his laugh. Her embarrassment soothed his giddiness as her cute reaction had been genuine. He pulled his hand from his face to wave away the comment if she had offended him."Miss Vivian take heart in your action as you bring joy to this ole Soul. Though if you are scared of me you have every right to be. My kind are not seen in a good light as usually when we appear, we are to end a life" His smile turned a little sour at the mention of ending life. A calling, an urge yet removed from his being. Ever gnawing at the back of the Dullahan's mind. Odhran listened to the librarian talk about she didn't have many friends and that she was clumsy and that people should stay away. The ill talk of herself seemed to visibly change the dullahans mood. He reached the tea cup out and placed it gently on her desk. "You think you who are alone, cannot have friends? Let me show you why I do not have them." No sooner had Odhran said that did he rise to his feet the chair moving a few paces back as he rose.
Odhran's hand reached for his head. " Dullahan, Headless Horseman, Gan Ceann each a name given to us by mortals. Each something to remind and bring fear to the humans we stopped to ferry when their time was up on the mortal realm. Few would dare befriend such a creature" The sound of something snapping and tearing could be heard just under the scarf he wore before his head came free. His head now held aloft for her to see where the scarf covered the neck a black flame could be seen emanating dancing and floating upward. "You see you have nothing to worry as you aren't like my kind." As his head spoke his accent seemed to take a much thicker tone to it. He knew he probably would scare away the only chance at having a friend but he knew she needed to see it could be more difficult.

She covered her mouth and her eyes went huge, but she couldn't tear her eyes away from the whole thing. She just shook her head. ”Okay okay I get it! Please don't d-do that in the library please! The students are around. Head back on now!" she pleaded, but then finally was able to look away. It was scary to see a headless guy sure...but it wasn't the scariest thing she had seen. A flash of that scary thing appeared in her mind's eye, but then was gone as soon as it appeared. ”That...that doesn't mean that you can't have friends, right? I man, I understand, but still...that shouldn't stop you from trying!" she backed up her own statement, though she wasn't able to look at him quite yet as he SCARED THE PISS OUT OF HER! ☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲☲

Vivian's reaction was exactly what the dullahan expected and in essence rolled his eyes. He did take comfort in see that she didn't cry nor piss herself at the sight. "Quite a resolute soul you have miss Vivian, to stand before me and not faint" He said his head being placed back to its perch on the scarf. A sickening crack could be heard from the neck as the dullahan moved his hands and adjusted his scarf. The blue fabric being pulled tight to secure his head. "Sorry for the ugliness, I just felt you needed to see it could be a lot worse." He said addressing the woman before him before his attention was pulled from her. To the Young man that had come into the library. His gaze turned downward to the student. "I am not laddie, I am but a guardian of this school. Sorry you had to see that as our first introduction". His gaze was quickly trailing to the back of the library. Something wasn't right, how had he missed it. It was her work, he knew it instantly as it was a daily pressure and apart of his nature.
The Dullahan seemed to become bewitched as he moved past the Librarian and young man, his left hand moving to the handle of the large scythe on his back. A tug and a pull undid the clasp holding it as it came free. Drawn, the weapon reflected all it saw in its mirror finished blade. "𝕯𝖊𝖆𝖙𝖍 𝕳𝖆𝖘 𝕱𝖔𝖚𝖓𝖉 𝕿𝖍𝖎𝖘 𝕻𝖑𝖆𝖈𝖊." His voice took on a more serious tone, one of Purpose and Awe as he walked through the Aisle's. Finally rounding one of the corners the dullahan found what had pulled him. A Body. A Student. A pool of blood soaked the carpet around the body as the dullahan crouched down to examine it. No soul was detected or even felt in the area. Impossible unless it had been taken the dullahan thought as he rolled the body over. What was revealed was a face with no eyes, blood pooled in the sockets as the Dullahan gently laid the head down before closing the eyelids over their orbless sockets.

She was curious and got up from her seat. ”Odhran? What's the matter?" she said but then got to where he was. On the floor...the body of a student. Vivian's eyes went huge and immediate tears fell down her face. ”No...no no...why...this...this can't be..." she fell on her knees and she bit her lip. But nothing could hold her back. She screamed and cried at the same time, mourning and wondering how in the world this could have happened. ”Why here?! Unfazed, Undaunted The dullahan found himself joined by the Headmaster. The aura of his soul unmistakable to miss. He took his notes and identified the body and who it belongs too. A wizard from a lower class family who ran out of time and ran out of luck. What sounded like a rattle in the dullahans voice could be heard if one wasn't drowned out by the Librarians crying and screams. Such a mortal reaction to an event that would come for them all. Odhran stared at the body, the color of his Iris's a Golden hue as he tried to locate the soul to this being yet failing in the task. "I vill do what must be done, Headmaster." The dullahan said his hand reaching for his head. The sound of snapping and ripping emanated from beneath the scarf. Finally the head came with the hand head aloft over the body. " banríon phantom, lig don cheann seo teacht ar do thaobh, chun fónamh i gcónaí" A language all but dead uttered from the Dullahan's mouth in a whisper as smoke from underneath the scarf draped over the body. Those watching on would see the body disappear under the smoke and when it finally relented the body was gone. Leaving only the headmaster, a guard, a Librarian, and a student to wonder what had happen.
