The hidden leaf ninja escort a jutstu wielding woman through a dangerous forest, but the villagers where the Ninja dropped the woman off to seemed to be hostile and unfriendly.

Episode 146 - Shippuden
Following a hunch, Naruto returned to the village that they dropped the woman off at only to discover that she wasn't there. So, Naruto, Yamato and Sai all go back into the forest to search for her and they find her and a tailed beast host being hunted by the anbu black ops.

The hidden leaf and the Anbu black ops comes up with an agreement. The anbu will back off in their arrest only until the hidden leaf has completed their mission.

Episode 148 - Shippuden
Thinking that they may run out of time, the hidden leaf has to do one of two things. Remove the forbidden jutsu from the girl's body or find a man named Shiranami who can wield this power. Meanwhile the anbu black ops who had been watching the tailed beast host rogue ninja was attacked by one of the beasts wielded by Pain of the Akatsuki.

Episode 149 - Shippuden
Hotaru (the lady with the forbidden jutsu) has been kidnapped by Shiranami. Shiranami plans on using the jutsu for his own greedy ends. The leaf ninja and Utakata (the tailed beast rogue ninja) are trying hard to save Hotaru.

Naruto Shippuden Episode 151
Thinking that she killed her master and her friend, Hotaru begins to activate the forbidden jutsu on her own wanting to die in the blast. However, thanks to Utakata, the blast had been absorbed by his beast power. Naruto captured Shirinami so that he wasn't going to cause any more trouble. The jutsu is now gone, the mission of returning Hotaru to the village that she lived in was a success, and now the leaf ninja can go home. Utakata begins his journey travelling with Hotaru to train her, but the akatsuki were waiting for him and thus Hotaru is once again without a master.

Naruto has been deeply saddened by the fact that Jiraya has been killed when he was told this news by Lady Tsunade.

Still depressed about Jiraya's death Naruto wanders around the village aimlessly until Shikamaru snaps him out of his funk and gives him the coded message in a photo that Jiraya had sent for Naruto for his last words.

Kakashi battles pain alongside Choji and Choza. Choji made it out of the battle alive and was able to report one of the abilities of pain to Lady Tsunade.
