A small clump was no match for her flamethrower, however the wind thought itself a match for them both. The hot ash made them reel, snapping between on instinct, even for ash. Smarted, but nothing terribly bad.
75-79. As you catch a small patch of Thread, the wind blows the ash right back into you and your dragon, leaving them a bit burned! Whoops! Moderate Damage: -3 HP

One... Two... Three...
The two reappeared, and resumed their position slightly under and behind Treth. The gold rumbled fondly at the green, and Elysa was pleased to find that things were relatively quiet. She knew it wouldn't say this way, but it felt good to be back up with the Wing. Injuries aside, she felt much more prepared, and was determined to stick out the rest of Fall.
But... There was nothing to do. Nothing but the wind and, oddly enough, clear skies. Her thoughts drifted back to the injured, the wounded, and... no!. The thought crept upon her before she realized what she was thinking about. Tight pants. A fine a-- No. Not him! Anyone but him. And yet, she remembered how good he looked in those pants...
But now was not the time to take a walk down memory lane. She'd keep that memory well to herself.
10. 1. The healer looks at your wound and gives a shake of their head. The prognosis doesn't look good, but they're determined to patch you up as best they can! Return Request Denied! Regain +5 HP but re-roll from the Healers Grid! You still haven't been given clearance to return!
11. The healer looks at your wound and starts trying to patch you up. They're not being particularly gentle on you, but you can tell they're quite invested in making sure your wound (or your dragons) heals right! Unfortunately, that's going to take some time. Return Request Denied! Regain +5 HP but re-roll from the Healers Grid! You still haven't been given clearance to return!
12. The healers patch you and/or your dragon back with relative ease. They lather you in redwort, and actually make quick work of the wounds on hand. You May Return to Your Wing! If White return with +8 HP! If Green return with +12 HP total! If Blue return with +15 HP total! If Brown return with +18 HP total! If bronze return with +24 HP total! If Gold return with +28 HP total! Status Effect Removed!

Poor little Zultoloth, for all that she was a queen, was ill equipped to deal with such strong winds. She tried valiantly, but the exhausted young queen, scarcely ready for such a challenge, was blown directly into a strand of thread. Squealing with pain, she hopped between at her rider's urging, reappearing... somewhat nearer to the wing.

Elysia did her best to clear her thoughts. She stared up, waiting for Thread... but the Wing's seemed to be doing a better job catching patches and strands before they broke through. For the moment, everything remained quiet and still.

93-97. Your dragon is starting to feel tired. This particular fight is wearing them down. A strong gust of winds tries to throw them out of their position. Roll a D4 to see what happens!
1. Success! Your dragon successfully recovers, and keeps in formation. [+1 Stamina]
2. Neutral! Your dragon begins to be blown out of position, but fights it by giving a few powerful flaps of their wings. There. No one noticed anything out of place.
3. Failure! Your dragon is blown out of formation. They struggle and flap against the wind, and only are able to recover when the wind dies down, feeling more exhausted than before. Worse, you think they may have pulled a muscles in their wing arm! Best watch it. [Light Damage -1 HP ]
4. Failure! Your dragon is blown completely out of formation, and is too tired to stop it. Fellow wingriders notice, and trumpet warning, though it's unclear if your Wingleader has noticed or not. Either way, your dragon is just spent. Worse, they are blown right into a small sliver of Thread! Moderate Damage -4 HP Fatigue Effect For the next 3 rolled turns your dragon will suffer from Fatigue Effect. Any XP earned during those turns is negated. On the plus side, any negative status effect (i.e. additional Fatigue Effect or Painful Status) is also negated, since your dragon is too tired to care.]

Squeaking out to one of her wingmates tiredly, Zultoloth realized... that she was too slow. They would succeed or fail without her.

Easy, my love. Ezyzu could feel the exhaustion in her bond's bones, feel how tired Khamaith was with every stroke of her wings. Fixed up by the healers, but they were both exhausted, pain nipping at their heels in an idle threat to bloom once more.
A strong gust blew them back, though it was nothing Khamaith and her immense size couldn't handle. With a few powerful strokes of her wings, she rose over and back into formation. They could and would finish this flight out -- finish their duty, before Khamaith could return to her hearts' gentle glow.

As the quiet crept in, so did small seeds of doubt. Do.. Do you think they're alright?
Khamaith, a dragon who had been so sure of herself since the moment they found each other, took Ezyzu by surprise. Baihath and Alya?
Yes.
No doubt, my love.. We have the best healers looking after them both. The young rider gently pat Khamaith's neck, mindful of a patch slathered to stave off a threadscore's pain. Oh, she was covered... They got you and I up and able to return to duty, didn't they? Those two will be just fine. They're tough.
Khamaith could only hum in agreement, as their gaze continued to watch for another patch to fall.
45-50. You keep looking up, but nothing seems to be heading your way. Your neck is starting to object, but it doesn't matter. You must be ever vigilant, or so the saying goes. The Queen's Wing is an important position, but it sure can be boring... Part of you wishes you could be higher up, where all the action is. Part of you is grateful you're safer down here.

Deep in their worry or not, another large clump hadn't escaped their notice. Yet as they moved to sear it --
Click.
Ezyzu's heart fell out once again, a chill running colder than Between as she tried desperately to unjam her equipment. Khamaith barked, trying to move out of the way as they seemed to relive a nightmare once more. Yet the young queen, usually calm in mind, was unable to keep the shriek from her throat as the clump landed on her once more. Flesh not numbed away by medication flared to life in pain, as the pair disappeared into the cold snap of between.
1-5. This clump of thread had its eye on you. It defied all the odds and made it through not one, but three wings of dragon riders actively fighting above! It's up to you to flame it! If a Queen, your dragon puts you in position, and as you go to flame it down, you find your equipment's jammed! By the time you realize what's going on, the thread is on you, your arm, your legs, your dragon's neck back, and side. It has attached, and immediately starts to feast! Major Damage -15 HP if a Queen. plus Painful status for the next 3 turns. This will negate any XP gained, and cause double damage if the prompt includes damage (or has you roll for damage).

After several beats, Khamaith and Ezyzu reemerged. The gold's eyes were wide, streaked with white and grey as her entire form trembled, wracked with pain. Yet thread had yet to give them a reprieve, as a stray few strands slipped down Khamaith's side, barely above where they had appeared.
With a pained shriek, the pair disappeared once more.
21-25. Well, not much is happening. Either the Wings are doing their job, or things are mighty quiet. You know your thoughts shouldn't wander or stray.... but you look away for a moment, stretching your neck, and resettling yourself on your dragons back. Unfortunately, things happen quickly. Your dragon lets out a shriek of pain as you're hit with Thread! You hadn't seen it fall from behind, too far back from where your dragon could see. Roll a D4 for Damage!
