The wind picks up, and you fight to keep in formation. Your wings strain, but you're able to keep your place! Though your muscles ache, you're not going to give up so easily. Pern depends on you! +2 Stamina
Cubath was determined to keep Xela from more worry. She'd already pushed it - and how could she enjoy the company of a nice man if she was fussing over her? Not that Cubath would entirely complain. As the wind caught them, the green pushed back against it fiercely and huffing confidently as they leveled out again.

You try to flame down some Thread, but your flame comes up short. Whoops! Hopefully your Wingleader didn't see that. Nothing to be done about it now except eat some more firestone, and try to catch the next clump!
Cubath clacked her jaws as a clump of thread escaped them, the irritation seeping back through into Xela who found it in herself to frown.
Stay sharp and we'll catch the next one, she thought soothingly, stroking her Green's neck.

Your dragon asks for a few more pieces of firestone to chew. Unfortunately, they wind up chomping down on their tongue instead of their stone! This is going to distract your dragon for the next two rolls. [Tongue Bitten Effect! Your dragon is distracted by pain. No XP will be earned for the next 2 rolls. Any successes will be nullified. Should you roll a prompt with the possibility of damage, take the max damage allotted for your size/color automatically but it will also end the Tongue Bitten Effect immediately.]
There was a brief lull to allow the pair to load up on more Firestone - but only briefly. There was a certain urgency to make sure they'd be ready if they needed to flame and in her eagerness Cubath bit her tongue.
With a small huff of pain, Cubath tried to push past it. It would be hard to ignore.

Another clump of Thread was heading their way and the duo lined up to hit, but at the last moment they were blown right into the Thread. The pain from the previous hit sent Nzambith reeling and Venn didn't even give her a chance to think. He gave her the coordinates of the Weyr and they blinked away, needing to heal.
As you fight against a strong gust of wind, you feel something pull! Uh-oh. There's a pain in your wing muscle that hadn't been there before. This isn't good, especially this high up! Still, your dragon fights on.
There was a sudden sharp pain in Cubath's wing - something that was deeper and not raw in the way Thread was. I should have massaged your wings more, Xela noted sadly. They'd have to tough it out for now - something Cubath reassured her beloved was fine. There was still plenty of fight in her.

Venn was glad that when they returned to the skies things were relatively calm. He could see others flaming around them, but for now their area was clear. He kept his eyes on the sky, not wanting another clump to take them by surprise.

Unfortunately their luck didn't seem to be getting any better. After flaming and avoiding a huge clump, they returned from Between right in another sheet that fell behind the one they couldn't completely flame. Pain seared over Venn this time as the Thread fell right on his back, and it was a few moments after they came out of Between for the second time that he wondered if they shouldn't have stayed at the Weyr a bit longer.
As you're flying, the wind picks up again, trying to knock you out of formation!
If 23' to 35', you're able to fight it, but wind up straining a muscle. Whoops. Maybe you over-compensated. -4 HP
Hrimnith was too tired to put up much of a fight when the wind returned, only pushed by Karinne - and then pushing too hard. She could feel the mellow pain in his shoulders and frowned as she pat his neck.
FLAME'S FURY Karinne of Blue Hrimnith HP: 30/30 - 4 Status Effect: Fatigue Effect For the next 3 rolled turns your dragon will suffer from Fatigue Effect. Any XP earned during those turns is negated. On the plus side, any negative status effect (i.e. additional Fatigue Effect, Guilt, Bitten Tongue, etc.) is also negated, since your dragon is too tired to care. K'mar could tell that Vith was exhausted from the ordeal in the first hour, so he let him fly a bit less intensely than they were hoping they could. He kept speaking to him, encouraging him to keep going, hopeful that Vith would recover and they could keep on going.
Your dragon is blown completely out of formation, and is too tired to stop it. Fellow wingriders notice, and trumpet warning, but your dragon is just too tired to care. The wind is too much! Moderate Damage -5HP
Hrimnith was starting to get frustrated with the winds and exhaustion was giving way to annoyance. While it hurt, the large blue pushed through the winds to settle back into position.

Despite his exhaustion, Vith was keeping them save. He flamed what he could and dodged what he couldn't, too exhausted to call out for others to try to catch what he missed. K'mar could feel Vith's strength and will returning, though, and he hoped it would be soon that they could get back in the fight.

K'mar could tell Vith was really coming back to form as he mowed down Thread left and right, a roar leaving him between breaths. Although he still was tired, a new fight returned to Vith's will, giving him a push to try harder.

A gust of wind blew them off course a bit and Vith, with his renewed vigor, attempted to stay in place. He pulled a muscle and grimaced a bit, but they held their ground and flew on.

More Thread came and more pain was inflicted upon his dragon. K'mar was starting to get frustrated. They hadn't done much in terms of doing well and poor Vith was hurting bad. Perhaps once they shifted altitudes he'd have them go back to the Weyr to heal up.
