Tatsuki looked at the farmboy as his stature, mood, and body language changed from what was from earlier. Tatsuki's eyes narrowed as he said she didn't know when she should shut up. This right after her saying he was wrong about the village told her something was off, was it something he did personally or just something he knows. Regardless, with her interrogation now going no where with him now basically stone blocking her for her verbal actions. His banter let her start to cool her head upon herself. This aggressive charge wasn't really her thing but she was desperate for answers at this point, she needed the information she didn't feel like she had the time for someone elses feelings on the matter. However as he gave the description of the 'mission' for them saying that they BOTH had to go and collect intel Tatsuki's eyes widened. Tatsuki looked to Alasia before turning back to him as he was getting up Tatsuki said, "Wait you cant do that to her, I was the one asking questions she had nothing to do with that! You can't punish her for something I di-" Before she could finish however he told them about the building and that if they didnt hurry out they would be considered robbers

The rage in her eyes increased once more, she could handle being called a child, she didnt bother because he didn't really know her so to her the statement was irrelevant. What got to her was that he was dead set on letting someone else be in on HER punishment. As she stared at him on the count of five Tatsuki whistled to Hakaze who was also stone cold staring at him, more so his eyes for a possible snack, before landing on her shoulder. tatsuki then rushed out of the house, which she thought was the one they had been assigned to, and then waited for Alasia. Her scowl was at the ground at this moment of waiting. Teamwork is one thing, forcing somebody in on the same punishment to her was over the line. Thoughts immediately turned to how she could kill the farm hand in his sleep when this was all over.

Obviously she couldn't do it this early in the game. Not only because he was 'sponsoring' her but also it would be to suspicious if her sponsor died of mysterious circumstance when he was assigned to the two new female charges. But sometime soon as this whole trial perioud was over, she would have her way... once he told her everything in that skull of his. That was more of, to her, childish vengeance. But to her it would vindicate her quest for knowledge about the village. Tatsuki would look up in the sky and could barely see a cloud of smoke. it was so far out in the distance that she could barely make note of it. She scoffed in surprise seeing that, at least one part of his dumb story, was in fact true.

Tatsuki would wait on Alasia, her aura feeling actually bad that she dragged the little white fox in on this mess. that was the only thing that to her was bad about the situation. She made sure her aura reflected that, to hopefully have him believe she was 'sorry' for her actions.

When Alasia appeared and the farm hand was a good distance away she would say, "... Im sorry Alasia... I didn't mean for you to get involved in this. I dont know how we are supposed to act as a team on this with how you... how you dont like Hakaze but im sure we can figure this out"

XXXX Over the next few days, Finn had spent day and night, when he wasn't sleeping anyway, trying to get a grasp on his disability. As he got the hang of it, he discovered with enough practice he could identify quite a bit by the general shape, since he couldn't see details, although he still wasn't so sure he could effectively navigate an unfamiliar place. Which was still the majority of the town. By the fifth day, he had a pretty good grasp of the places he had frequented in the village and could get around fairly well--with occasional help from the young woman, Charlotte, who had been assigned to him. She was sweet and incredibly patient with him, always willing to help. It was beyond him how she hadn't gotten fed up with his clumsiness and what felt like outright stupidity about the world he now lived in, but she had been a comfort and a good source of conversation. Not to mention, she helped him keep track of important things. Like eating and sleeping.

It was easy to forget both when one had a single-minded focus. Which also struck him as odd because the constant strain of trying to get a hold of himself was draining, and he always felt both hungry and tired. Though, he partially blamed that on being a still-growing teen. Not so much height-wise. Easily a couple of inches above six foot and incredibly lanky, he towered over most of the villagers--since the apparent plague had left only those sixteen and younger alive, most were stuck in their youth to go through puberty again, making him incredibly tall--except for the odd few that seemed to surpass him by at least a foot. When he'd asked Charlotte why they were so tall, she had explained they were a race called the Stragari, who evidently came from a land far to the north.

Finn hadn't 'seen'--heh--Oragor since leaving the tower, but he wasn't so sure he was ready to. Still mildly confused about their conversation, he didn't want to face the man without an answer to his offer. His offer for... what? Training? To become a soldier or something? He still wasn't entirely clear what the proposal was. Regardless, he didn't have an answer, and therefore couldn't give one.

The day before, he had discovered there was a board in the town that contained odd jobs for those with headbands to take. Most of them, after having Charlotte read them off to him, were beyond his ability to handle. Either they required combat of some sort, which, despite waking up with a sword he had no idea how to use, he discovered later, or something that was hampered by his lack of sight. One was to find a cat, which he could identify with his ability to see living things as colors, but the issue with it was if it ran. Maybe if he bought some food for it, he could lure it to him. The other involved a boy who was playing an instrument loud enough to bother the people who lived around him. That one required sound, which was a little more reliable than his eyes.

He decided to take both, so that he could keep an eye out--all of these vision puns--for either.

Which is what brought him to the marketplace. Being near water, fish was a commodity there, and a common source of food, making it fairly cheap to buy. Unfortunately, he had no money. Standing before a stall, he glanced at Charlotte guiltily. He couldn't see her face well, even that close. In fact, she was mostly just a lavender blob. But he could tell she was smiling. "Sorry," he muttered, averting his gaze.

"What did I say about apologizing?" she replied rhetorically and he heard an exchange of coin as she bought a small fish. Probably an anchovy. "If you feel so bad, repay me after you get paid, alright?"

He nodded meekly, and turned his attention toward the hawker. "Um... weird question, but can you... chop it up really small?" He scratched the side of his neck, guessing he was getting a weird look. "It's... for a cat and, well, I'd probably lose a finger if I tried to do it." The man made an affirmative sound and moved away. He returned a moment later, and this time Finn heard the crinkle of a bag as, he assumed, Charlotte took it. "Uh... thank you," he said awkwardly, and left in a hurry. XXXX

XXXX Finn hadn't gone more that a few feet before he heard a meow. Pausing he followed the source to an alley between two buildings, close to the fishmonger's stall. That made sense actually. The cat probably fed off of leftovers at the end of the day. Closer now, he could make out the blob of color that was vaguely cat shaped. Though he supposed it could be any cat, not necessarily the one that he was looking for. To his eyes, it didn't look like it had eight legs. But then again, details weren't exactly his forte.

Charlotte spoke up behind him. "Everything alright, Finn?" she asked. The cat shape, which already seemed to be watching him, bolted the moment it heard her voice, spooked by the closeness.

"Ah..." Brow furrowing slightly, he tried to keep track of where it went until it was out of sight. Groping in the direction of Charlotte's hands, he tried to get the bag of fish from her before he lost track of it. She must have understood because she handed it over. Bag in hand, he hurried after the cat as quickly as he could without tripping over his own feet. Sliding the fingers of his free hand along the wall, he was able to find the corner and turn without risking slamming into the opposite wall, and he immediately slowed back down.

There was a dead end there. Or at least there was as far as he could tell, judging from the way the sound changed. Oh and of course the wall looming at the far end. He was practically blind, not completely blind. Ge could make out the glowing shape of the cat sticking out slightly from behind an object. Maybe a discarded crate or something. Smiling slightly, he knelt down and, fiddling with the bag briefly, managed to open it enough to provide a small plate for the raw fish inside. The smell of fish wasn't something he was hugely a fan of, but he could tolerate it for the sake of the cat. His best hope was that the cat was only skittish because there was so much movement before.

He pushed the food forward and waited.

If there was something Finn had, or that he was forced to have, it was patience. Sitting back on his heels, he waited silently as the cat crept slowly forward, curiosity overwhelming its previous fear. He remained like that, moving as little as possible, for a long while. Several minutes at least, before the cat reached the food and gingerly took a bite of it. Or he assumed anyway. Still he waited, letting it get comfortable with his presence despite the steady ache that was growing in his ankles from the way he sat.

Finally, once it was close to finished, he slowly reached forward. The cat flinched for a moment and he froze, but when it relaxed he tried again. A grin swept across his lips when he felt soft fur against the tips of his fingers. Moving down its back, it arched against his hand and he knew he'd won. The texture was off there, and, as close as he was now, he could vaguely see something... attached to it? It wasn't living, that much was certain.

He ran his hand along the feline again, making sure it trusted him. And then he scooped it into his arms. Instantly it started thrashing, claws flailing but somehow mostly avoiding him as his bundled the creature into his jacket. Only mostly though. He could feel lines of fire blazing into life on his left hand. "Sorry, kitty," he said with a grimace and headed back the way he'd come.

He found Charlotte just inside the entrance of the alley. "I take it you caught it?" she asked, but what her reaction was emotionally he didn't catch.

Finn nodded, sucking on the back of his stinging hand. "We should get it back to Oragor," he replied around his hand. XXXX

Tatsuki looked around the market road where she remained for now trying to think over what the farmboy said on her 'mission'. All he had given her was that there was 'A' cave outside the city. There could be any amount of caves in any direction, even the way she came from. As she ruminated on her thoughts she realized the farm hand wasnt coming out till she left. Hakaze perched on her shoulders and screeched but continued to peck at his feathers for cleaning. Tatsuki sighed and looked up just in time to see the blind boy from earlier accompanied by a woman. her mind quickly put one and one together as she walked over to them and asked, "HEY! Hey you with the blind look I need to ask you something!" Being reserved with her nicknames for folks wasn't really her forte and she didn't know how else to catch him to at least turn towards her. She hussled up to him and the lady companion and asked, "I'm sorry um...I know this maybe random but do either of you know of a cave near the village? Oh before I forget My name is Tatsuki, what is yours?" Tatsuki, though blunt, was trying to get formalities right before pissing off another person in this village

XXXX Finn heard a female voice call for someone blind, but it didn't really occur to him that she was talking to him until she approached. Another beacon of color making itself noticed among the crowd of colors. Coming to a halt before them, she asked if either of them knew of a cave close to the village. Finn, of course, shook his head, letting his hand drop back to his side, still very aware of how much it stung. He could barely find his way around what he knew, let alone anything outside of that small area. And as reclusive as he was, he hadn't heard much in the way of rumors in general. The girl--Tatsuki--then asked for their names. "Ah... Finn," he replied, and then got distracted by the squirming cat wrapped in his jacket.

Charlotte spoke up, her voice thoughtful. "I remember Lord Oragor mentioning a cave here in the village," she said, and Finn glanced back toward her curiously. Of course she knew what went on in the town; she was his saving grace after all. "It's along the eastern wall, but last I heard, it was inaccessible." Finn could hear the gentle smile in her voice. It didn't seem forced, but, just like when she gave it to him, he was half convinced it was. It was probably just his insecurity speaking though.

The cat squirmed again, drawing both of their attention to it. "Was there anything else I can help with?"XXXX

Tatsuki listened to the lady next to this finn character as she said there was one in the village but wasn't accessible. Her head started to think the gears turning before hearing the muffled cries of a cat. Looking around she noticed the noise coming from the the coat Finn wore. Cocking her head to the side her expression of curiosity and sudden surprise left a goofy look on her face. Tatsuki took a moment to recompose herself before straightening out and asking, "u-um well thank you, could one, or preferably both of you, show me the way there?"

XXXX Finn, of course, stood by helplessly. He knew nothing of the cave they were speaking of, and could, therefore help in no way. And now the girl was asking them to show her the way. "I, um... don't think I can hold onto this cat much longer..." he admitted reluctantly. The time it had taken to catch the small beast meant that he was turning into an inconvenience for everyone else. In his head anyway. A continuing argument he'd had with Charlotte over the last few days, since he was convinced everything he did was an inconvenience.

Charlotte gave a small, almost inaudible sigh, and Finn averted his gaze. But when the woman spoke, her cheeriness had returned. "Give me just a moment so I can make sure our mission is reported to Lord Oragor." She snatched the bundle of cloth and fur from Finn's hands and walked away without another word, leaving the nervous boy standing in awkward silence.

After a moment, he half turned his blind gaze toward Tatsuki, not quite looking at her. But that was more due to anxiety than knowing where she was; he wasn't completely blind after all. In fact, he was observing what little he could see from the corner of his eye. A fairly slender but probably muscular build, he could see easily over her head; he must have been at least a half foot taller. What was more interesting was the creature sitting on her shoulder. A bird, by the sounds it made, but otherwise it was just another blob of color to him. "Sorry..." he muttered after a moment, pulling his gaze away from her completely. "I'm afraid I'm not much use to you."

Much to his relief, the familiar purple shape of Charlotte returned and he perked up slightly again. The cat was gone but she handed his jacket back to him. She then spoke so that he wouldn't have to. "Follow me this way. Thankfully, it's not too far. Right across the market actually."

The young woman led the way in relative silence, unless questions were asked, to the eastern wall of the market district, still an area Finn recognized, and then further along it to the cave entrance, which, as mentioned, was blocked off. "Here you are," she said. XXXX

Tatsuki merely stood there with Finn, hoping he was alright before he said he wasn't much help here. Tatsuki shook her head and said, "Even little information is helpful information for me." Soon however the other woman came back as she came with information. Tatsuki then followed the pair to the aforementioned cave. She didn't know what kind of things she needed to look for but If it meant getting information from that farm brat, so be it. As they arrived she saw the closed off entrance and looked it over. While she didn't have a knack to search things over but maybe...

"Hey Finn... I know this is asking much more then I previously asked, But I think you maybe able to help a bit. Normally someone like me who's looking for details might miss them, But to the sight impaired they can feel the imperfections along objects more easily than if they saw it with there eyes.. Could you.. Could you run your hands along the stone and surroundings? I have a suspicion that this blocked entrance isn't really blocked but merely closed. Please Finn?
with that Tatsuki also started her own investigation around the stone to look for the same imperfections she was looking for

Strolling through the marketplace, with money she could spend unlike the last time she came through, Kagerou took her time purviewing the goods and the people, stall tenders and customers like her alike. Her humming, by this point, had gone through quite the mix of tunes, and swayed her upper body to and fro as she walked down the mildly bustling streets. While this village touted itself as a major gathering point for civilization, it didn't exactly change how sparse and far between the human population actually was.

Sundance, whatever he was doing, would suddenly hear his name called by Kagerou, interrupting the hymn of some sort the green haired girl had taken to singing most recently, "So Sundance, I don't think you ever gave an answer to my offer." She turned to the ghost monkey, flashing a cordial smile as, this time, she just asked straight up, not making a show out of it as she had done before, "I may look like this now, but I was a full fledged kunoichi before I was crystallized. Attracting the attention and affection of others was something I was taught by my family." Between this and the other way she offered, this time was more reflective of how she felt about teaching Sundance how to flirt. Flirting, like a spell or a technique, was simply another skill, another tool to learn and utilize. There wasn't anything to be shy about it when used like this. Though, getting to experience that heart pounding moment again one day might be nice.

______________The Narrator Snarls...|
tab The cave was a crevice in the earth, a rent that was barely tall enough for someone even normal height to enter. It led up and outwards, a part of the cliff face, and where the widest portion was there appeared to be some sort of wooden barricade that appeared to have been haphazardly put into position. On first glance it looked like there was no way past the barrier, nor means of removing it as there wasn't a clear answer for how it was stuck in place to begin with. There was a sign to the left of the entrance, a simple tablet of mud etched with instructions that none should enter without Oragor's permission or that of one of his lieutenants. Anyone else would be prosecuted thoroughly, and this wouldn't be lost on their guide, Charlotte. That said it wasn't exactly her job to stop anyone from entering, and while it was common knowledge where the cave was it was also common knowledge that this warning was more for their safety, for no one knew what lay within.
tab As the trio sat there speaking there came a sudden ill wind, a chill running down their spines as a sense of dread would come over them. It passed as fast as it came, but there lingered the echo of a scream somewhere within the confines of that cave. Was it there? Did it matter? It was difficult to say just what exactly they'd heard, but the sense of danger was present even then, though danger not for them but whoever had moved the door originally. For it was only with the scream that the door would be noticed to be out of place as if someone had moved it recently and not placed it back where it was meant to be.

tab To Finn's sight there would be more to see, as Mana covered much of the surface and beyond. Where the door was stuck there would appear a golden mana source outlining the structure, separate from the light gray-brown of the earth itself. In fact, there was a small amount of separation on the right side where the gold and the brown should have met, giving the impression of a breach. And beyond? Distance was a key factor in sight even for Finn's eyes, and here he could see further in what appeared to be a network of golden threads slightly more than above head height within. The structure, the way it was woven, looked much like a spider's web, though why it glowed gold was a mystery.

It was often that the monkey would find some sort of curious bauble or knick knack that would yank him in all sorts of different directions like a rambunctious child and, much like a rambunctious child, Sunny managed find himself on the rotted bog end of a rat knocker with how constantly he rubberbanded back to Kagerou the minute the distance between them grew too large. Maybe there should have been some concern to be had over how easily Sunny had accepted the subservient role, but for now the Monkey felt content to bask in the happiness. At least until his new green mummy felt brought up that old heat he was so certain he had expertly cha cha'd past.

A horse cough from his throat came like the deep breath before a big jump. Along of course, with the naive hope that Kagerou wouldn't be able to recognize how strange it was for a ghost to need to cough in the first place. "Weren't we all lil mama? You knooow, back in the day I used to be a big ole hot shot konin myself. Konohagakure born and raised! But I'm sure you could tell from that raging fire, burn, burn, BURNIN IN MY SOUL. YOW!" Just a dab of studio magic left Sundance flexing, in his usual overdramatic fashion, right besides Kagerou. "But... erhm well what exactly do you uh.. mean when you say you're going to teach me?" Gradually, as could be told by the crack in his pitch perfect voice, Sundance's actually inexperience in matters of love twisted itself into the thorny roots of nervousness. Oh god no, I'm not ready this! What do I do? What do I say?

XXXX The cave wasn't hidden, and even Finn could see well enough to see the wooden planks used to cover it up once he came around the wall close enough. Or at least he could see the separation of color from the wall around it, and the darker crevice that lay beyond it. Stepping closer, he looked at it uncertainly. Did Tatsuki mean for him to find a way past the barrier? Wouldn't that be easier for someone who could actually see? "I-I can try," he stuttered nervously, and then admitted, "But you should know that... being blind--or mostly blind anyway--is still new to me." As in his other senses hadn't yet caught up with his lack of sight. And they probably wouldn't so long as he kept using his eyes, not to where he needed them to be. Still, he gently ran his hand along the wooden slates, looking for whatever mysteries the blockade held.

Behind him, Charlotte spoke up again. "Just so you know, this place is usually off-limits." Her voice grew slightly quieter. She'd turned away to speak, likely to Tatsuki. "I don't know about Tatsuki here, but I'm not so sure Lord Oragor would appreciate you putting yourself in danger." She meant, he assumed, because he was meant to be the man's pupil.

He said nothing for the moment, head tilting slightly as he concentrated on his sense of touch. He froze, though as a sensation of dread crept over him. Not from Charlotte's words, but from something beyond the wooden wall. Had... he heard someone scream? Regardless, the sound or sense or whatever it had been led him to find an entrance. A slate that was out of place, like someone had squeezed through. He tugged at it briefly, his natural strength lending him leverage to move it out of the way completely.

Beyond it was dark. However, his ability to see mana lit up the space with golden threads that would have been near invisible otherwise. They crossed and weaved in a way that reminded him of a spiderweb. If these strings were attached to anything specific, like a trap, or if they existed for no apparent reason was beyond him and what little his eyes could see. "There are golden threads all over the inside of the cave," he announced, pulling himself free of the hole. "I dunno if they do anything, or if you guys can see them." He glanced uncertainly in Charlotte's direction, wringing the bottom of his shirt with both hands. He didn't really want to in there, but if he could be of some help to someone, he would. XXXX

Tatsuki looked further as she wanted to find a latch to free up the wood plants that blocked passage into the cave. When The woman that seemed to partner with Finn saying how this was normally off limits and that they really shouldnt be there, "I'm sorry to have dragged you all into this, but my ... "sponsor" I believe he's called told me to go to the cave and find evidence. If he knew bout this before hand, Which I kinda think he did, You can turn the blame on that farm hand." the last part of her talking was to more so complain than to actually give any credence to why she was doing this mission. As tatsuki was about to continue a sudden sense of dread came over her. goosebumps welled up across her skin and her eyes narrowed to almost slits as they stared at the cave entrance.

Suddenly out of the blue tatsuki thought she heard..screaming? Her senses Perked up as she now was getting panicked in her mind but not across her face.

As the scream stopped Tatsuki looked to the girl and Finn the later of which had gone over to a odd placed slate and pushed it out of the way to reveal the narrow entrance. tatsuki looked to Finn and smiled, "See i knew you could do it, great job!" With that tatsuki gave a pat on his shoulders before looking deeper in. Tatsuki's red eyes darkened and black scelera could be seen forming. This Blood eye brightened and sharpened the interior of the cave she was able view. various rocks and stalagmites covered the cave. When Finn mentioned golden threads that reach further down the cave Tatsuki knew this is what the farm hand wanted her to check out, about 95% sure, "Thanks Finn I really appreciate that. It sounds like what my farm hand wanted me to check out..."

As she considered her options she sighed and whispered to Hakaze, who was merely perched on her shoulder before screeching at the sense of dread and screams. "Okay pretty bird... you have to stay out here okay?" Hakaze screeched softly as if to say he didn't want to. Tatsuki looked over to the Finn and the woman and smiled as she said, "I hate to impose on you any further. Consider it a last request. Can you look after Hakaze please? He may not act like it but he's a good bird and i dont want him to be confide in a cave... You guys go on out of here, its really me whose been given this assignment. I dont want you guys getting any trouble if you dont want or need to" Tatsuki looked at Hakaze as she whistled loudly. A signal for Hakaze as he glided over and perched on the womans shoulder.

User ImageSundance's antics, once again, drew a laugh from Kagerou, but not before she raised an eyebrow at the moniker he had chosen to call her by. The question that followed, on the other hand, was met with an inquisitive glance, wide eyes masking its scrutinizing nature with the appearance of innocent curiosity.

There was the obvious observation, that Sundance had misunderstood what Kagerou had meant. However, behind the break in the voice, the nervousness apparent in his tone and posture, she couldn't help but also sense excitement mixed in with the hestitation. The green haired child smiled helplessly. She hadn't meant to give Sundance any expectations, but perhaps she had gone too far in her teasing earlier.

To amend her earlier error, Kagerou answered Sundance matter-of-factly now, "It's exactly like I said, I can tell you what I was taught about getting others to like me." She still smiled pleasingly, but there was no playing around now. She spoke casually as she surveyed some fruits sold by a vendor. "Could I get these, please?" Kagerou asked the stall keep as she pointed at some variety of fruits and vegetables. After completing the transaction with the other living human, Kagerou returned to her conversation with Sundance, "Of course, I just mean a superficial kind of like. You know, just to get people interested in you. Like, I'm sure you're probably familiar to the flirting scene and all but well... How do I put this... Your flirting is kind of bad. Like, even worse than my-dad-flirting-with-my-mom-using-bad-puns bad."

Kageoru's tone was more than enough to set Sundance straight, and as the slow realization dawned on him, Sunny's feelings of anxiety melted away into more of a cool pool... what was that? Awkwardness? No, at least not all the way. More like that feeling of empty understanding paired with the knowing that someone doesn't have all the facts. Whatever it was he was sure there was a very long German word that encompassed the feeling perfectly.

But back to the matter at hand, Sundance struggled, for once, to find the words he should use. Not going far with people is kind of the point. Sundance thought with a grimace. Honestly, it just worked out better for him when everyone thought of him as just "that raunchy monkey". Just as well, he was sure that at least a few people needed to feel wanted. But even if it were his true feelings it wasn't the kind of secret ole Sunny could just reveal in his usually intrepid manner. Ugh damn all this jazz is starting to lay too heavy on me man. With hardly any thought at all Sundance started doing what he did best, started talking. "Hmmm.." He spoke whilst pretending to hold a stern and reflective expression. "I see I see... now correct me if I'm wrong here, but you say that I'm even more awful at flirting than your daddy-o. Except he must have been at least a little successful seeing as how you're here and all. So doesn't that mean I should just keep doing how I do so that I can find that extra special someone that stands my brand of manly manliness? I mean otherwise I don't think I'd be being to my heart ya dig?" As the words fell out of his mouth Sunny couldn't help but feel an extra bit smug. This deep kinda talking wasn't so bad, so how come he always he heard people complaining how hard it was?

Still... Sundance couldn't deny himself the curiousity that was seeing just how Kagerou could flirt. Two parts actually interested in it as a means to cheer people up, and one part wanting to see this little cutie work her stuff. Adopting a sudden leering expression about his face the shift in Sundance's mood could be felt in air like a walking aura of perverted desires made manifest. Much to Kagerou's probable distaste. "Although maybe I wouldn't mind taking your class just to see! Ya that sounds nice. Lead away my little a chuisle mo chroí~"
