[ R ]emembering that this was the first time she'd visited this place, Zuu was forced to realize she shouldn't strut around like she owned the place. Or, well...it would be better to say to keep her head clear and to not make enemies where it wasn't needed. Eyeing the crowds as she waited Nina's answer she considered how easily it would be to strike up a friendship and cultivate an air of camaraderie here. Such was a strong point in her past, meeting people of different kinds in a bar and turning them into a group of singing and hilarious idiots within no time at all. Sea shanties if near the ocean, or the base polka of the mountains, of even the woodwind accompaniments of the merry folks of the plains, all she could coax from even the most grumpy of men and women who would far rather be knee deep in their drink. But here...what was she to do? tab It was a question she found herself asking too often for her liking. What was the point in all of it in a world meant for the dower? In the mountains of Lightning people were hardy, simple, and straight forward. They valued honesty, and even those who chose solitary lives knew the strength and bonds of people such that if war broke out they would stand for their country. It was all about identity. Men of Lightning, women of Water, it didn't matter. All held concern for their own, and all born within it, with all others being displayed the courtesy afforded to a 'foreigner'. Yet here...even the stupidest of individuals could see that this place simply held no sway as a home yet. How could it? Where was the culture, the necessities, the rituals that so came with a cultural identity? How could they find it, when they'd all come from distant places? Many misunderstood the bonds a culture, especially a small village one, grew in its people. Perhaps that way why so many came here, or worked the fields, both mindless in different ways but, perhaps, for the same reason. They were lost. tab Nina's voice knifed through her thoughts as she spoke at last, first to the bartender and then to her. At the remark of being scared off a small smirk and a playful wink at the bartender would be her answer, but the latter...a bear? Thinking back there had been many times she'd hunted or fended off such creatures. It wasn't uncommon for the Ursine Sept to find their way into the Wolf's hunting grounds, and so fights could break out there, with many bringing Familiars to the fight. Those were powerful indeed, some using chakra to blast through opponents and decimate the field while the Septborn battled with claw and tooth and mass to obliterate their targets. While there was little doubt these creatures were anything but Septborn or Familiar tied it didn't stop her from hesitating for a fraction of a second before her teeth showed in a feral grin. "Aye," she acknowledged, her tone revealing none of the hesitation she'd just experienced. "A bear be a mighty foe. I'd imagine tha lord o' this place would be happy ter see them gone, however it be done." tab From behind her the bartender spoke up, eyeing the pair with concern given the topic of discussion. "If I'm hearing you two right you're likely to head near where our job board says some horses could be found. Why not kill two birds with one toss?" tab Lifting a finger to scratch her cheek lightly while nursing her beer she considered that, her eyes thoughtfully turning to the ceiling as she mapped out in her head the possibilities here. To establish herself here in her strengths would require her to either join a troupe or prove a decent tracker. Given her skills of survival hadn't seemed to wain much from the old days the latter seemed to be a possibility, but her musical skills, as the voice in her dream had explained, were something entirely different than she remembered. Song to cast spells, using chakra- mana, as the spirit called it- to harness the forces of positivity and negativity to cause magic? Sounded like a bloody fairytail, but her time alive in this new world gave her no reason to doubt. So, if she needed to establish herself as she needed to it meant making an impression, gaining strength, and getting into the field. Why not kill two birds with one throw? tab Casting her eyes sideways to Nina as she lowered her beer enough to speak over the foam she responded. "If'n we be interested in doin' this two-fer, what need be done?" tab The tender of the bar picked up a glass and began polishing it slowly, eyeing the two with some concern. Despite Zuu's weapons her dress gave the impression she took nothing seriously, since it was cold and her clothes were made of straps and tight leather. "Talk to Kaileer, the lord here. I believe he's at his tower. He can tell you where to go, what to be done, and likely how to do it. At the very least the bears we've seen here seem to want to eat horse flesh for reasons unknown, so at the last you'll find your prey there if you ask and follow instructions."

❥Nina did not like where the conversation was going. So was merely suggesting some bloody fun where one of the girls may or may not go missing, and the survivor may or may not have a full stomach. Instead they had to bring the law into this. She was sure she wasn't on a watch list at that point in time but she was still hesitant to go anywhere near the ruling power. Something about poking the hornets nest. The squidling was in part more confused as to why the bar keep of all people would suggest an official mission. He should known what kind of people visited his bar. 'Strange. Must have a personal attachment. Makes no seNSE otherwise. Yes yes. Family? Business venture? HmmmmMMM.' The girls lilac eyes looked him over carefully. She might need to watch out around him if it isn't the case. This could be a dangerous man. Playing both sides of the law? It was of no matter right now, however, as she had made the suggestion in the first place. It would be odd for her to suddenly back out. "Ah. So there is an official mission in place for it? Fooey I was hoping to get it nipped before it became a big deal." She grumbled, setting her empty glass down on the counter. She gave the barkeep a head shake when he motioned at the taps. She wasn't in the mood to make a competition out of drinking, at least not anymore. The thought of having to actually meet with the big man himself... again. She had barely gotten away from having to interact with that type of danger the first time. It was too risky. Just how deep was she willing to go for a chance at this girls life essence?
She stared momentarily into the bar's crowd as she mulled it over one last time. In a motion that could only be described as a hair shrug she had figured that she was already in too deep to just back out now. 'In for a penny in for a pound.' She thought offhandedly before putting on a smirk before realizing the tower wouldn't even see it. Choosing to instead do a quick wink and elbow jab. "Well missy. The offer still stands~ Wanna share a bear haunch for dinner? Its much better than the slop this old man sells." She said jabbing at the barkeep who in turn gave her a look of faux hurt. He knew it was true but appearances and all that. She leaned back up against the polished wood counter as she idly adjusted her gloves. "While I'm not so keen on wasting the time to go through all that paper work... I'll stomach it if you want to. Otherwise we could just go do it without all that nonsense." It was the truth, she had no desire to ever set foot near that walking lie detector of a building. She was very confident with her personas but once she meets someone that important with one of them she has to stick with it. All in all a net loss for her. She got nothing out of going to the building but lost plenty. "I'm just roaring to go after watching that fight. I ache for some release miss~" She eyed the girl like a shark would its next meal. She was being brazen with it, after all thats what the character she was portraying would do. Hiding the truth with just a pinch of fabrication. What was actually a dangerous hunger was portrayed as a girl just looking to get her rocks off one way or another. She was looking to turn the girl into a blood bank before she fell for her charms. A lady shouldn't rebound for one lover to the next so quickly but the redhead was just so peculiar, in fact she reminded the squid of her sixth husband right down to the red hair. [ T ]aking a moment to reflect on the answer from the bartender she finally choked down the rest of the brew, its bitterness matching her mood at the turn of events. Going to see the leader, or kage, or whatever the hell he was called here to go hunt some bears seemed a mighty waste of time, but it would put them on a path to money and some level of respect. Gaining a respect in a community like this, making a name for yourself, granted some level of autonomy and that more than anything was what she wanted. Hearing Nina speak it was obvious she chafed at the idea of authority being involved, or bureaucracy at the least, and she couldn't not agree with that sentiment. Any time she'd dealt with authority it inevitably went south. This time would likely be no different but sitting there drowning her sorrows before sinking her teeth into the murder of some bears wasn't going to get her any further in her goals. tab Sighing and clanging her mug down with a heavy hand Zuu nodded to the bartender in thanks before extending her arms over her head and arching back, her spine popping loudly as she stretched herself out. While she wasn't exactly unaware of the effect it would have on observers with the little clothing she wore the Septborn didn't exactly care that much, as she did this for herself and not to make anyone else happier. Huffing as she released the stretch with a large grin she turned with a wolfish, feral grin of her own as she eyed the exit with some level of intensity. "Aye, lass," she almost purred, her brogue thick as she moved towards the door towards where she'd earlier learned was the leader's "office", her step resolute. "Release be on tha menu fer us both!"

As Kira entered the north of the market he put on a hood as he carried his bag full of goods first to the smithy. He knew that smiths need leather all the time for fittings and such so that was his best bet for those. After that who knows where he needed to go for a alchemist in this marketplace. Heading to the smithy he finally felt somewhat confident to let his hood down and shouted somewhat "Hey Karin! You in? I got some leather for you" Kira looked around the front of the shop to see if she was, for once, at the counter before heading towards the back of the shop where the forges where. His basic shinobi clothing at least afforded him a bit more dignity than the last time he was there.

The young red head looked up from sweeping, likely having just finished working on something. She stared blankly for a moment before recognition crossed her face. "Ah, hey! It's been a minute." She glanced at the bag you were carrying before continuing. "I handle metal more than leather but I still have use for it, or I can add it to our stocks. Let me see what you have." Setting her broom aside, she pulled off her gloves and dusted herself off before approaching.
Kira looked up at the red head, probably the only one he'll like, he headed up toward her and opened the bag of rat leather, "I know its not good quality as I would like, leather is made up of rats I found dead and decided to tan in my new apartment. I dont expect much from them, truth be told I was thinking bout just giving them to yeah after the work you did for me before." He sat a couple of the rat leathers down for her to inspect and laid the bag down at there feet.
As she began inspecting Kira also said, "I also wanted to see if i could make a new order for some armor. I know it won't be cheap and i'll be out of town to go on missions to pay for it but I still wanted to ask if i could make the order from you, Karin..... To be honest you are probably the closest thing i have to a friend in either time. I didn't have much before the crystals, and my personality as you saw, well" Kira paused for a moment when he remembered his second visit to the blacksmith practicality in his trousers, "Lets just say it's hard for people to get through that iron shell..." Kira's thoughts would linger on his past, about his homeland, about his parents, how they where killed, and then the events leading up to him being inside those crystals.
He turned his gaze back to Karin and did his best to give a small smile before saying, "The armor i have in mind looks a bit different but it's a scale mail with a large chest plate like before, bracers, greaves. A new metal mask and any strong material for a hood, something to block heat or cold but help block blows like a helmet, any recommendations on that?" Kira looked at Karin with a bit of discomfort about the last bit of his order, normally when he made that kind of request it wouldn't have been a problem, however that was during a different time he just couldn't know if that kinda of craftsmanship was achievable at this point of their time.
Request like this wasn't going to be cheap so he knew he was going to be using her armor she made for him first time around for quite awhile. However Now he could only wait for her judgement on the rat leathers and her determination of the armor order.

_______________The Narrator Whispers... ||
Karin looked thoughtful for a moment, listening intently to your request as she rifled through the bag of rat hides you had brought. "It's a big order but definitely doable. In order to make anything unique, though, you'd have to get some materials for me." She emptied the bag of hides to get a better look at them, occasionally picking one up to inspect the back of it. "I'll give you one hundred ryo for each of them, since they're already tanned, which saves us some time. On that note, prices of everything have gone up pretty significantly since we've got a hefty presence of money in the community now." She held up a hand quickly to reassure you, however. "But I'm not unreasonable. Let me get you a list of special materials I need, and where you might be able to get them. Get me those things and I'll give you a discount for each. You might be able to pick up some extra money along the way, too." She smiled sweetly and then stepped away to find some paper and a pen.
After a moment, she returned with a short list, holding it out for you to take.
As soon as Karin told him about the price for the leathers he blinked for a moment in shock. He didn't realize it helped that much that being tanned already would help out that much, then again he wasn't a blacksmith or leather worker he just knew that tanning leather meant better it was more structurally sound. As she told him about the increase of economy within the community he slightly nodded figuring that these leathers, even with what she was buying them for, wouldn't be enough.
When the sudden hand jolted upward, much to Kira's shock of unsuspected reaction, and said she just needed special materials in order to give him a discount, Kira couldn't help but give a solid nod. Her sweet smile warmed him as she went off to grab a pen and paper. He looked over the forges and wondered how demanding it must be, the heat, the heft of the hammer, the shaping of iron to steel. Those things were in his mind as she returned with the list of materials for him to acquire. taking it gently he looked it over about the locations and the materials, some more difficult than others, but if it meant top quality than it would be worth it.
Looking back up to Karin with a confident smile he put the list into a pocket and said, "Thanks Karin, i'll do my best to get these things as quickly and as much as possible. that way you can have some in stock for others" With another solid nod and a bit of a bow he proceeded to lay out all fourteen rat leathers for her to take before asking, "Is there any use for there innards at all? i wanted to see if a alchemist might want to buy the dried parts I have from the excess of the rats" Kira didn't want to tell Karin how he dried the rat organs until he felt as most confident as possible. She was the closest thing to a friend as possible but it wasn't that close to share secrets that extensive.

Kira would pick up the bag after being told where the alchemist was in the little square. Having left the leathers with Karin he looked up as he said to her, "Thanks... for listening I mean... I'll swing by to cash in on the leathers when I get done with the alchemist. Though I must admit the Chimera is going to be a tricky S.O.B to find and kill, I relish the challenge you have presented to me" With that Kira went off to find the alchemist in hopes of selling the dried rat innards that where left in his bag. It was still quite heavy to carry around with how much he had 'acquired' and didn't know how much they would honestly go for.
After asking around for five minutes and three different people Kira was able to find the alchemist shop he was looking for. Slowly entering the shop He called out to see if there was anyone in the immediate front, "Hello? I was told this was the alchemist shop. Is anyone here I think i may have stuff to sell. Though it is a long shot i suppose.." Kira said questioning it himself as he had no idea the medicinal value of rat entrails, dried or otherwise.
The inside of the building was fairly dark, although that was the case with many places without the aid of electricity. A variety of materials, bottles, and plants cluttered the inside of the shop, along with several tomes that looked to be reminders of the old world. One of these was flipped open to a page, but it appeared to be in a different language. However, it bore what looked like diagrams of something. Spells, maybe? Overall, a very stereotypical alchemy shop.
When you called out, some of the clutter shifted and, a moment later, a very tall, very thin boy stepped from the darkness. His skin was dark, with similarly dark hair and eyes. But despite the almost emaciated appearance of him--and the general lack of wealth of the town--he wore very fine clothes. The boy, who looked barely into his teens despite his height, gazed curiously at you. Although he did keep his distance. "You said you have something to sell?" he asked quietly, eyeing the bag you were carrying.

A startled looked came across Kira's face when the cluttered movement came into his view, he reached for where his sword would be but then noted he didn't bring it this time for safety of others around him. When he got a good look of the dark toned boy Kira's head turned for a moment before nodding at his question striding slowly up to the nearest counter, trying to be careful of the placement of any books and materials it already had on it,
"Yes, though like i said I dont know if it has uses in alchemy If it doesnt then i'll remember for next time when I tan the hides for them." Kira would then open the bag to expose the dried rat innards for the dark haired teen to see in the bag, though Kira thought best to not simply dump them out like at Karin's shop, " There's about fourteen sets of dried rat entrails here. I collected them when I killed and tanned the rats for leather. I dried these out hoping them might be useful in some potion or some other alchemic formula but thats just a guess sense I dont know anything about that art." Kira would pull the bag's tie over so that the dried entrails and organs would be put firmly back in as Kira looked up with his red eyes and asked, "So, Mister Alchemist, Do they have any worth in potions you could use for the town?... and do you have a name so i dont have to repeat 'mister alchemist'
The tall boy glanced into the bag presented for him, head tilted curiously to the side, where it stayed even as he drew away once more. "I'm afraid," he started after a brief consideration, "I have no use for them as they are. Bile would have been useful, but its dried up at this point." He fell into a quiet thoughtfulness again as you continued. Finally, he turned away to look at his cluttered shelves. "Danrou--" He cut off as he tripped over something in the dim light. Straightening up again, he smoothed out his clothes and proceeded on as if nothing had happened. "As far as potions go? They're made to order, so that entirely depends on what you're looking for."

As Danrou tripped over some materials in the dark Kira couldn't help but actually.. chuckle. Helping the guy up Kira was dismayed that as dried ingredients they served no purpose, only the bile would have possibly been useful. Furrowing his brow on the subject he gave a slight nod and said, "Well, I'm going to do a supply run for Karin to help with a armor order. Maybe you have some knowledge on stuff that could help with wounds or maybe increase muscle reaction? Something cheap or mass produced perhaps I could get for you while I'm out?... I Didn't exactly do great in front of Kaileer and I wanted to make up for it by helping out where i could"
With that said Kira couldn't help but wonder if he was really doing this to gain favor with kaileer or was doing this to grow more open with other people.
[Sorry for the wait; I'm actually somewhat alive today.]
The strange boy fell into a contemplative silence again for a moment, gaze never leaving you, before he seemed to come to a conclusion. "I don't know about muscle reaction off hand but spiderroot functions a lot like aloe vera, and grows in the cold. We could always use more, and I'm low anyway." He held his hands a couple feet apart. "It's got leaves about this long, fleshy, and the plant looks vaguely like a spider. It grows in the forests around here." Dropping his hands, he turned away. "That's all."
