There's a large stretch of ice that looks solid and in your hubris you jump right down on it. Or maybe you were aiming for the water and missed. Either way, you unfortunately go straight through. Bye.
Knetic may have been around water for a good part of his life, having a large semi-aquatic lusus after all, but nothing in the world was going to prepare him for a freezing cold plunge should he not make this.
Looking for a decent vantage point in which to leverage himself on in order to reach Corporal Ginnie, he finds a decent stretch of ice and feels confident it'll be his best route.
Big mistake.
He lands on the stretch of ice, ready to tackle another when it shatters beneath his feet and into the icy depths he goes. The water a cold electric shock as reward for his hubris. He's starting to think he wasn't quite made for this military nonsense.
The ice is predictably slippery and you fall a few times, and just when you're nearing the end you fall in! Oh no! To make matters worse, you notice that there's a series of fans under the water rigged up to cause disturbances in the water, and naturally you get shocked. By some unexplained miracle of science, the shock actually revitalizes you somewhat and you get to where Corporal Ginnie is waiting for you. Yay! You didn't freeze to death.
Now they were talking! Lorata could do anything in the water. Sure, it looked like she was probably supposed to stay above the ice, and she would do that, of course, but if she fell through like...pretty much everyone she'd just watched wipe out, she'd just be even more likely to succeed. Honestly, as she slipped and stumbled her way across the ice, lamenting she hadn't worn a different pair of shoes, she almost would have preferred jumping in right from the start.
Which was why, when she finally did crash into the water, she was actually relieved for the few seconds before the shock. She came back out of the water screaming, but Ginnie was right there and she just had to reach out and get out of the water and-
Frazzled and panting, the seadweller pressed a hand over her heart and glared at the Corporal. "Maybe you should learn to save yourself."

Eyzaak was going to save the Corporal! There was no if and OR buts about it! Eyzaak took a deep breath as he rolled his shoulders to try and loosen up his joints. He could do this. It was some ice...clearly, he could make it! Rushing forward, he hopped up onto the ice block. Wobbling, he looked momentarily wild-eyed and panicked as he slipped. Woopse. He was still okay! Continuing forward, he took another step..and just like that Eyzaak fell in.
"AHHHHH!!!?!" Screaming, he landed in the freezing cold water. As he sunk down, flailing and kicking...he saw the fans...and as he got closer, the shock to his small body made his body convulse. The shock, however, made him clear-headed and focused as he kicked, and pushed with his hands to pull himself back to the surface. Coming out of the water, Eyzaak wheezed as he pulled himself frantically onto the ice. Trembling, teeth clacking together, he carefully hoisted up the Corporal...to gingerly, and slowly return them to safety. Eyzaak's whole body trembled as he waddled a bit..he'd need to dry off ASAP so he didn't catch some shitty cold.
As he wrapped himself up, he noticed Sundry not far away, looking at him with a mixture of confusion, and amusement as the beast's tail wagged. Watchya doin' buddy? You good? His lusus inquired with a chatter-like sound as it nudged the trolls hand once it got close enough for contact.
Eyzaak sighed as he patted his young lusus's head...pulling the small creature up into his arms to hug. He was a pain in the a**, but he loved him. "Not dying tonight, so yea I'm great." He laughed despite being mad he fell in.
You manage to hop a few ice floes, but soon slip/break through/miss and get trapped between them. It's a huge struggle to get back to the surface, and you're pretty sure you almost drowned, but hey, you made it! Corporal Ginnie is almost frozen to death by the time you get to her, though, just like you...
This was just like at home when your lusus routinely threw you in the lake to each you a lesson about strength and endurance. That b*****d.
Malice sprinted across the ice floes, thinking the less time she spent on them and moved on to the other, the less of a chance she would fall in. She was very wrong.
Slipping forward, the blueblood screamed and waved her arms to balance herself from falling forward, but in the process, fell backwards onto her bum and slid down into a crevice where her body was met with an insufferably icy hell.
After a good struggle. Malice finally was able to get out. If her lips weren't already blue from her blood, they were now from freezing to death. She stood there with the stupid stuffed toy, shivering comically as icicles formed on her, gritting her teeth with a low growl.
Eckios was nervous about going after Corporal Ginnie..he could see they needed to perform a rescue mission before the poor thing froze...but that meant getting close to freezing cold water. Chewing on his bottom lip (especially since Eyzaak had fallen in already) he whimpered softly. Casting a look to his lusus, he nervously fidgetted. Maybe..he wasn't going to do this Booth tonight...He already had the sniffles, but it wasn't anything serious. No. He wasn't a chicken, he could handle this....maybe? Kio felt his legs wanting to collapse under him as he moved closer.
Gulping, he lowered his hood, peering with his good eye ahead at the floating ice blocks. Well..here went nothing right?
Taking a deep breath, he motioned and chittered for his Mother to stay, before he took a few steps back and hopped forward. Landing solidly on the ice, he threw his hands up on either side for the hopes of balancing himself. Slipping, and falling a few times wasn't a problem..it was when he went to make the next jump the problem began.
Eckios felt his footing slide..and his whole body rocked and tilted. While he didn't use his power, the scream of terror that left his lips was high pitched and terrified. Sploosh! Eckios sunk like a rock, not really knowing how to swim...at all. Panic bubbled in his chest as he came close to one of the underwater fans...before he could kick or jerk away electricity coursed through his tiny frame. If he hadn't been underwater, tears would have clearly marred his cheeks. The shock did give him focus, he needed to get out. He was going to drown.
Thrashing and jerking, he was close to using his powers...but he wasn't supposed to! Kio felt something bite down on his jacket, and yank him upwards. His lusus's paws were strong enough for the both of them. Pulling him up, and onto the ice, she gently deposited him onto the ice block.
Corporal Ginnie was safe...and Eckios hadn't frozen to death. Although he trembled violently, wheezing as he clung to his lusus for what little warmth her wet fur could offer, tears poured down the boys face as he hid his face against her..until she slipped under him, pulling him onto her back as he held Ginnie. The agile beast's wings flapped, to safely deliver them back on dry land so her boy could get wrapped up and dry off.
Trevel had come at a different time than his pals, doubting that both of them had actually fallen in. He had been concerned, but also surprised to hear Eyzaak had also fallen in...Eckios he could understand. So how difficult was this thing today? Once he was sure both trolls were safe, and warm back at their booth he'd decided to adventure over to the AssJack'd booth to see if he could test himself. It was a simple enough exercise. Make it to Corporal Ginnie before she froze, and don't fall in. Trevel was quick to move, jumping into place. His boots slid against the ice, causing him to land on his a**. Growling softly, he kept moving along..until he hit the water himself suddenly. As he sunk, the shock of the fans made him cringe in pain. The freezing cold water was bad enough, but the jump start got him moving again...the problem was he didn't know how to swim.
Desperate times called for desperate measures. Even if he didn't know how to swim, he began to doggy paddle his way to safety. On the outside, he looked like he knew what he was doing..but deep down Trevel wasn't OK. Grumbling as he got out of the water, cold and shivering he made sure Ginnie was safe...and now it was his turn to go get warm.
The nature of asses getting jacked was often a dangerous one, and Sarcel knew this, so she kept a close watch on the participants as they plunged into the water. Honestly, she was surprised they would go to such lengths for a Bloodfest booth, but she wasn't going to think about it too hard. She appreciated their tenacity for prizes.
But when the children started leaping in like lemmings, she pursed her lips. Hello? Lusii? She jumped to her feet and threw her jacket off. Not only was Kerras--the tealblood she recognized from the haunted house fiasco--going under, the Mihail's purpleblooded friend was having a time of it too. No time to waste.
She jumped in, fully expecting the cold water. The first step was to survive the shock. Check. The second was to survive the ice sharks, but she'd already faced God and walked backwards into hell, so she figured she could deal with it. Time to start scooping up children, first with Kerras, then with Knetic... any others she should know about? ******** it was cold.
She survived though--wouldn't look good as a lieutenant not to--with the two wrigglers in tow. She threw them up onto shore before hauling herself onto the warmer-than-she-was-now snow. "Still with me?" She waved Nahori over for blankets. "There's a heater in the booth. We'll fetch you some hot chocolate."
She really hoped Caviap was bringing a third blanket for her. Oof

HELLO AND THANK YOU PLEASE WAIT FOR ROLLOVER BEFORE YOU CONTINUE POSTING!
It doesn't sound like there are any enemies close by, but suddenly a snowball hits you with a loud crackle-pop. It's totally unnatural. You can't see them, but when Lieutenant Cincil and Corporal Caviap aren't on the turret, they're on the sidelines throwing snowballs full of firecrackers. Still, it's more flashy and startling than it is painful. You use every trick in your book to fight through the heavy artillery and come out on top. Sergeant Hamham is so impressed with your work that he joins your squad.
They.. had to make it through the maze blindfolded? While being pelted by snowballs? At least it wasn't water. Dei tied on the blindfold tight enough that it probably wouldn't come off (he was no cheater) and then... well, s**t, he didn't think about how this was going to work, honestly. Was this how life was for Polair? She had some bracelets or something that helped her see just a little, though. He was about to stumble around a war zone completely deprived of vision. Well- Sarcel was right on that at least. s**t happens and sometimes you lose an eye or two.
The first hit was a complete surprise. He hadn't even heard them - not that it would be easy to do with so many others nearby. That was the other disadvantage - as good as his hearing was it wasn't like he could differentiate enemies from other participants. The crackling though - that wasn't normal. Did they fill them with explosives!?
He ducked lower and picked his way through the maze, eventually the soft fur of a plush hit his hands instead of cold snow. He'd ******** made it. Finally. He ripped the blindfold off and blinked a few times, letting his eyes readjust to all the lights of the festival. This pretty much settled that he never, ever, ever wanted to lose either of his eyes.
You can't see them, but you can hear them, sense them. The group of enemies surrounds you and their presence feels like a physical weight. Actually, wait, is that even the enemy? Or another participant? Hmm... either way, there are snowballs pelting you from every angle, but like the war-hardened soldier you are, you manage to fight back and make it out in one piece.
This was new. But not unwelcome. Mihail was eager to learn and if Sarcel thought that making it through a course deprived of one of his senses was a good idea, then it must be. He tied the blindfold into place after getting into position. As soon as he was told he could start, he began picking his way through the field. It was so hard to tell who was friend and who was enemy without 1) having his eyes and 2) knowing any of their names. That would be different in an actual battlefield he supposed.
And then the snowballs came in. He was hit several times - but without a way to see where they were coming from he just had to deal with it. Eventually he managed to make it to Hamham, but he was pretty sure he was going to have to find a place to dry out his clothes... they were covered in snow. Ugh...
The blueblood didn't think this sounded so hard. Just a snowball fight, blindfolded. Except, they really weren't used to being blindfolded. They fumbled and stumbled around, unable to find solid ground. They contemplated calling for one of their friends, but shook off the idea. In war they'd be on their own, or whatever the booth runner would say.
They stood up, and were immediately pelted by a bunch of snowballs until they fell back down.

Static gasped. Sergent hamham joined the squad! It was a really nice surprise. He looked up to the sergeant, and could not help but feel some pride in this result. I mean, if the surgent joined his group, that must mean he did a really good job. The blueblood considered taking her home with him..
Leeroi thought he had everything under control, but the moment the blindfold went over his face he was completely disoriented. He could barely place one foot in front of the other, not to mention he was being pelted by turrets, making it impossible to stand after every time he fell. He couldn't help but feel like the Lieutenant was going extra hard on him. Surely she wouldn't be this difficult with the kids, too...

Kerras lay face down in the snow, incapacitated by snowballs and trauma. A pair of podlings sat on either side of them, occasionally giving them a reassuring pat the back. The tealblood remained inert and unresponsive. The podlings looked at each other. A lightbulb went off.
Two minutes later found them fleeing from behind the booth counter with a plush in tow.
