Jace get like he melted a little when she smiled at him like that. He looked down at their hands when she touched it and left small butterflies. He smiled softly as they floated around her hand before disappearing. He blushed slightly and turned attention back to the different stalls. “I guess that depends on what you’re craving”he said and as he looked around the room for a table he froze a bit when Kane saw Kolya running their way only for him to run straight out and Kimberly fumbling to run after him. “Kolya!” He called out and reached out for him but he had run out of his earshot already. He turned to look back at Leora. He was so torn. Did he ruin his date and run after them or does he let Kolya have his time and confront him later?
Leora had been distracted with looking at her phone when she heard Jace shout something. She looked up to see him having moved away slightly. She studied his body language, he was concerned but he was hiding something. She didn't feel it was right to press him on the matter. "Is everything okay? Should we get something from Panera or Chipotle?" she asked quietly. Perhaps the distraction would do him well.
Kolya stopped running after a while, taking shelter in the shade under the trees outside the cafeteria. thunder rumbled overhead as he stopped to catch his breath. Kimberly caught up and collapsed to the ground. Kolya listened to her sentence and let out a heavy sigh. "I just," he paused, "I can't be in the same room as them." He waited for Kimberly to speak again. "Jace and that girl. They're on a date. I ******** everything up. I should have just spoken up but no. God I'm a ******** idiot."

Kimberly collapsed on the ground when Kolya stopped, her legs finally giving out from under her. She groaned and rolled over, looking to the thunder clouds above. "So, wanna tell me what happened? Why did you take off?" She looked up at Kolya as he spoke, his hands running frantically through his black hair. "Them? Who?" She listened to him rant, saw him on the brink of tears. She didn't say anything about it. She assumed he may have been bisexual, he had a similar personality to her, but maybe he was pan or just gay. Who knew? It wasn't her place to bring it up right now.
Jace looked back to Leora when she asked if everything was okay. He wasnt sure how to answer that but then she gave him different food options which he was grateful for. This was their first date and he didnt want to dump his personal problems on her. That wasnt fair to her. He would have to figure things out with Kolya later."Chipotle sounds good to me" he said and offered a soft smile.
His demeanor changed when he answered her. He seemed to brighten up though, so she walked with him to order food. She got her things, paid with her student ID, and waited on the side for Jace. She got a vegetable and rice bowl and ice water. She eyed a table nearby and sat down before a group of students could claim it. She waved at Jace to let him know she'd claimed a table for the two of them.
Jace followed her, getting in line behind her. He ordered a barbacoa bowl and just grabbed a soda. He paid for his meal and stepped to the side to wait.He looked around to see where Leora went and saw he sitting at a table waving to him. He smiled and waved back grabbing their food and drinks before heading to the table and setting them as he took a seat. "So how was your class?"
Leora smiled when he sat down with her and she listened to what he had to say. "We are covering the basics of psychiatry at the moment, which I already know, so I'm not really doing too much work. I'm working on the first assessment piece while everyone else is writing notes. What about you? What was your major again?" she asked. She ate small bites of her food while she waited for Jace to answer. She didn't want to keep the conversation stalled with huge bites of food. She probably wouldn't eat her entire bowl, saving some for a snack for later or even her dinner.
Jace smiled and took a sip of his soda as he listened to her talk about her morning. "Well it seems you'll be ahead of everyone this semester"he said and took a bite of his food. "I'm majoring in Forensic Science. I'm pretty sure at least half of the class wont be coming back. Were going to be working with the justice and law students" he said as he took bites of his food.
"Half the class?"Leora asked. "People underestimate psychiatry and how it is done. It's not just sitting in front of a person reading body language. That's just the surface level"
She took several bites of her food and looked around. How many students would switch their majors and minors this semester alone? How many students would drop out all together? How many would make it to the exam weeks? She could take a guess, she was often right, but she didn't want to think negatively. She looked to Jace and couldn't help but analyze his body language, wonder who he was calling out to when he met up with her. She shook off the thoughts and changed the subject.
"Hopefully your next minor will be good. And hopefully it goes quick so we can sit together in Psychology."
Jace nodded."I'm sure there are a going to be a few that just wont come to class really since majority of the class lessons will be online but I know there are just gonna people not coming or doing any of the work."he said and nodded when she explained that people underestimate psychiatry. He knew that from experience. He had been seeing one since he had gotten his abilities. He ate his food as their conversation died down a bit. He didnt feel too awkward just sitting in silence with her but he also hadnt really dated anyone either so he wasnt really sure if it was going well or not. He looked at her again when she said she hoped his next class would be good and that they could sit together in Psychology. He paused a moment as he thought of his friends and Kolya in Psychology. "Yeah that would be great" he said with a smile though he wondered how class would go. Kolya was avoiding him and all their friends were bound to notice that things were tense between them but he figured the date was going pretty well if Leora wanted to sit with him in class. He ate some more of his food, getting lost in his thoughts again. Should he switch his classes? he could probably take a different psych class and change his extra curricular. He didnt want to cause any issues for Kolya. He didnt mind if that meant not having classes with his friends as long as Kolya still got to be with them.
Leora looked at her phone for the time. 10 minutes left of the lunch break. She turned her phone over and smiled at Jace. "Time flies when you're having fun, huh?" she giggled. "At least it's only one minor and then we can be in the same class." Now she could tell something was troubling him, but she didn't want to pry. He might think she was just using him for a psychology read. She put the lid on her box and slid it into her bag. If she left soon, she could put it in the mini-fridge in her dorm room and make it to her next class.
Jace was almost done with his meal when she spoke again. He smiled softly and nodded. "Yeah it does" he said and checked his watch to see it was almost time for their next class. "Yeah. I'm curious what the semester is going to look like" he said and finished up his food and his soda. He slipped his backpack over his shoulder. "Ill walk you out?" he asked since she seemed like she was ready to head to her next class.
