Well time to get up again. Sitting here in the dead end corridor wouldn't allow him to see the rest of the ruins. Eventually he got to another fork again. He wasn't too optimistic considering his other corridor options. Even worse was half way through the light died out and it was utterly dark in front of him. He did have a flashlight but he was a bit hesitant. However if he just stood here cautiously what was he going to tell Samara when he got back, or what would he put home in his letter to his parents.
Having seen way too many action movies, he cautiously patted on the ground careful for any hidden switches. He didn't find a hidden switch although his hand did hit something. Pulling his flashlight out, the light revealed a bag of old coins?
No opening the bag revealed those chocolate coins. Well it wasn't a dead end or a roped off corridor. Plus it was something to eat while walking around.
Thomas had mostly just slunk around the hotel before they left, talking to a handful of chaperones but pointedly ignoring most of the children. He mostly kept drifting to Iron and Arthur, out of familiarity and intrigue. Finally, they made their way to the ruins. Tom was genuinely surprised when they were allowed to take things from the ruins. Surely they belonged in a museum of some sorts?"Backwards-a** place..."He mumbled bitterly, but followed the group nonetheless. Naturally the claimed one of the canteens - no point in dying of dehydration - but he began to wish he'd brought a flask of his own along.
As he slithered along, he glanced at the carvings around him. He had to admit, they were quite impressive."Everything you hoped for, prof?"He asked Arthur with a grin; he'd slithered up behind him as quietly as possible. At Iron's comment, Tom tried not to roll his eyes at the near adorable innocent of it all. What he expected them to find was some deadly insects and fun little curses. Spotting a crack in the wall, the hallowed casually slipped a hand in, wiggling his claws around something he felt inside. He managed to work out a small, smooth gemstone. Holding it up between this index and middle finger, he flashed a smile at Iron."Something like this what you're looking for? For a special someone, perhaps?"He practically oozed the last words. What? He was nosy!

Leaning against a wall, far from her close encounter of the eight-legged variety, Anu glanced up to see yet another hole in the wall. This one seemed bigger than the other one... So it couldn't be another spider, right..? Hesitantly creeping forward, she poked it with a claw and almost jumped when something fell out. Saiya padded over and sniffed at it, gently batting it with a paw and looking up at their Grimm with a faint wag of their wispy tail. Squatting down to pick it up out of the dirt, Anu turned the sparkling stone over in her hand and stared at it for a long time while walking further along the ruins. This almost looks like Su... she thought.
Suhail recovered from his faceplant and decided to trek further into the ruins. Once again, he didn't get very far before something interrupted him he thought he heard Anukhet scream! He darted off in the direction of her voice and ended up finding her unharmed. "What happened?" he asked, coming up beside her. However, there was something odd on the wall that also caught his attention. "What's this?" He couldn't quite make sense of all the instructions, but there was something about materials and gestures and circles... prayers or a ritual? Maybe this merited further investigation. He pulled a crystal camera out of his bag and snapped a shot of what was on the wall.

"...You aren't Nadinia." She said plainly, looking at the grimm who's arm she held captive. She felt a little put out when the woman told her the bug was likely afraid of her... it was a spider, and it just startled her. It was dark down here, and a little spooky, and...
"Oh. Ankle..." She seemed to have a moment of recognition, slowly letting go of Aurora's arm. "Did your ankle heal up well after your accident? It was the falling rocks on the cliff, right?" All thoughts of the spider were gone. She glanced to the other who was with Aurora, then down to the familiar that seemed to have claimed the grimm as their own. "I feel as though I am intruding. I'm sorry. I truly thought that I had grabbed Nadi's arm. I hadn't realized there were others here so close by." She looked for the Dryad, and saw where she was standing. As she looked to the dryad, something caught her attention. Was that a coatl? She took a step away from Aurora to try and see the snake, but it vanished into a crack in the wall. But what she did find was a rather pretty stone. Well, it would make an interesting souvenir. She would like to show it to Sam, Bebe, and Ares later.

"Thanks Leto... Still, sorry. I didn't mean to grab you like that..."
Vega found it a little odd that their little freshling companion was being so quiet. He didn't understand her flailing hands either, but he was able to figure out... maybe she was signing? He wondered if there were classes at the academy that taught that. He knew some of his classmates couldn't talk or hear or something, so they signed. Maybe he should look into that when they get back. They must have been standing under some sort of oasis or something, because suddenly Vega felt a drip of water on his head and looked up. "I think the roof is leaking..." He looked up. "Maybe that's why it's roped off down there?" He looked at Leto. "Kanda? Who's Kanda?" Since he didn't understand sign, he didn't know the freshling's name, and their other companion had yet to give his name.
He smiled, though, when the neko seemed to make friends with a familiar. "I hope your vespercat won't mind my flitterrat... Or this guy." He gave the coatl about his neck a pat. "So... what's your name? Since we're rooming together, I think it's best to not just call you 'Hey you' or something equally silly."

Nicolae looked up at this other... very... very tall person. Another chimera, like his roommate... Red eyes were wide and round before the chimera reached out to touch him. Nicolae flinched when the hand came to rest on his forehead. "You, sir, are too tall..." He murmured into the fur of the vespercat whom had knocked him into the person. "A-apologies for... stumbling into you." His voice got softer as he spoke. "But I am fine thank you..." He glanced up at the other and... well, how could anyone be that TALL?! He felt dizzy just looking up at him! "you shouldn't worry about me.Worry about our charges.Now kindly stop touching me..." He didn't want to be rude, but he was really intimidated by people who were nearly twice his height. He pulled back, taking a step away from this man, only to have a drop of water land on his glasses. "EIGDSH!" He jumped, the vespercat in his arms hopping out and circled around his feet as Nicolae yanked his glasses off to try and get the liquid off, his freckled cheeks now bright pink with embarrassment.

The hybrid was alarmed to hear a child yelling, and she slithered over to the little Goblin as quickly as possible. She smiled gently, holding her hand up to catch a bit of the liquid. "It's just water," she explained. "We're deep enough underground that there's a reservoir of water underneath the hot desert sand, and sometimes it leaks into these ruins. It's more of a nuisance than anything, because it can erode the beautiful wall carvings down here."
She continued on with the group, and after a little while she was called over by an Elf, who was concerned about sounds he was hearing behind the walls. "Yes," she said, "it's likely that a familiar lives back there. These tunnels are very extensive, and they seem to fold on each other like a maze. We still haven't managed to explore the whole system! What you're hearing behind the wall was probably a familiar." She grinned comfortably. Even though it must seem like she was slithering all over the place, this was Dr. Ketzal's favorite part of running tours for the ruins. The curiosity was especially inspiring in children, and she was so happy to be answering questions.

Annie's eyes widened in alarm. "Why, was there something dangerous in there?" He leaned close to the hole, wondering if he'd get a glimpse of it, but he didn't see anything now. He chuckled a bit nervously, wiping his hands on his shorts, when he felt a wet nose on his ankle.
"Aww!" Annie gushed, leaning down to pick up a Fennekit with a green face. The little thing stuck its tongue out at him. "Who knew there were such a huge amount of cute familiars here?" He put the Fennekit back down, wondering if it might follow them. He wondered how deep they were already - the carvings on the wall were getting to the point where they seemed so worn-down, it was as if people had dragged their hands down the walls until they had worn down. "I think a lot of cultures carve about their, like, legends and histories. I wonder if they say anything about their animals." He grinned, blushing a little. It was like he could only ever talk about one thing.
Lapis shifted her bag comfortably onto her back, fingers slipping the canteen she had selected delicately into the front pouch. She had lost Annie, perhaps in her attempts to gather the materials or maybe when she turned to focus on Willow. Either way, now she was alone, as her brother and cousin had wandered off together. Clicking her tongue, she drew her eyes across her surroundings.
Hot. The heat rolled over her, sending a thick wave of dread as she looked down at her tail. The Imp/Geist hybrid knew that she'd need to keep herself hydrated if she wanted to get through this day. She only wondered how those with even more fur dealt with the heat! Shrugging the complaint off, her eyes locked on a strange carving on a nearby wall. She approached it, reaching out to slide her fingers over the indented and strange lines. Even back then people were weird.
Her head tilted as she heard a familiar voice, turning to spot Annie, finally. She wandered over to her relative only to stop a few feet away when she noticed they were talking to someone. She shifted, a hand resting on her bag strap as she froze in place. Should she turn around? Was she intruding, maybe?
Willow shouldered his bag, holding onto his canteen with one hand and clutching Thyme's hand with another. He wasn't exactly a fan of the heat, and it showed as his ears pinned against his head, but he put up a rather stoic expression as Thyme tugged him along in their search to discover everything and anything. That was why he was here, after all, for Thyme. That, and the promise that familiars would be involved, but ultimately, no matter his love for familiars, he was here for the small child that clutched so tightly to his hand.
He took a swing from his canteen, expelling a low sigh once it left his lips. Thyme looked up at him, tugging gently at his shirt.
"Hm?" He grunted softly, eyes drifting to the ground just as something approached him. His eyes widened, body bending down and hand releasing Thyme's to reach out and gently offer it to the creature. A vespercat, and a rather thin one, too.
"Hey there, you hungry?" He hummed softly, reaching into his pack to retrieve a snack and gesture at the vespercat with it. The cat flicked their tail gratefully, accepting the snack and taking a few steps back to nibble on the treat. Once done, they released a low and pleasant purr, brushing up against Willow.
"I guess you were." Standing slowly, Willow watched as the cat jumped onto his bag, reaching back to open the bag enough for the cat to slide their body in, their head poking out lazily.

Thyme watched Willow interact with the vespercat, a tiny pout on their lips. Of course Willow, the one who had over twenty familiars and counting, would be approached by one! Thyme didn't even have a pet yet! It wasn't fair! He held onto his canteen tightly, mouth pursed once Willow stood up with his new familiar. Frustrated, the small familiar tugged onto Willow's hand, dragging the older boy off.
Where they ended up going was down a corridor and right into a creepy statue. Thyme felt his blood run cold, cheeks puffing out as he stepped back.
"Lets go this way, this is creepy." He huffed, and Willow followed without a complaint.
