It was strange. The thudding. Boom. Boom. Boom.
It was like being next to a speaker, loud and blaring to the point it was hard to hear anything. There had been times he had been in those places. A dark basement where he nervously tried not to pick out who was human and who wasn't in a crowded room as some new band started up their gig. He would breath deep, and he would feel his heart swell with that same deafening rhythm, and try not to think. Try to let the power of that sound drown out reality so that for once, all the dark swallowed it all and let him just feel all included in it.
It's why he had turned to music as a kid. When he heard the sounds. The howls. The cawing and scratching of fingernails late at night. The music always drown it out.
To think he'd be here, in the very thing that would terrify him, still did, drowned out by that noise.
And it was the monster who couldn't escape.

Terry got enough distance and ran towards his target, each footfall in time to the beating of the heart. He felt Agata gently guiding him and heard her gleeful cackle, signaling him to bodily throw himself and shield at the walls.

Noah stepped in and hit it again, barely scratching the surface. But the contact was enough for Laz's runes to light up with a charge again. This time it felt familiar. Noah fell back a few steps and called out, "Does anyone need healing?"

Melvin dinked a piece of the heart but was trying to swim in a way that would keep him upright. Floating made aiming a bit hard.
"I got a heal too." He called over the headset as his gun glowed.

Kimberly was a bit excited to see the others who were getting into the fight. She took a deep breath and again lashed out with her whip, eyes, darting around. She looked at Terry and cast him a wide grin, as she moved forward. Still the heart beat was getting to her, it was like she was hearing an echo of her own heart.

Though her attacks were not as wonderful as she would like them, the whip was connecting and she and Chinthliss were on the same page as they did their best. The echoing heart beat was bringing on waves of nausea. Why was that, it was like even as it fluttered she too was starting to flutter. Her heart was objecting to the abuse?
