Brian smiled broadly and hugged Misha close. Good. It seemed like they'd made another step today in their odd sort of friendship whatever-it-was tonight. Then he shrugged.

"They've gotten better. Less frequent. Yours will too, I swear." Hopefully some day she might forget them entirely. Probably not, but a man could hope.

"I trust you." Misha gave another little sigh and her breath tickled his neck. "I mean, you told me the pizza would be pretty good and it is. That is one hundred percent worthy of trust."

It was flippant and not entirely unexpected given the serious direction their conversation had gone paired with her track record. However, the way her hand moved again to slip between them and rest on his chest, over his heart, put more weight to the words and a totally different subtext. She meant ti. She could not think of anyone she trusted more at the Prytaneum.

The words were indeed a bit strange and shallow, but Brian knew better than to take things at face value. Misha's hand crept to his chest and he reached up to splay his own fingers over it. His smile had gone so very gentle and pleased. Good. So Misha would hopefully start working on sharing instead of bottling. There'd still be parties, he assumed, but they'd perhaps be a little less desperate.

"I trust you too. More than you know." Or maybe she did.

"Good." Misha abruptly lifted her head and gave him a gloriously bright smile. "Then it's a deal. We'll find each other when we need each other and trust each other." Then, contrary to good sense, she leaned in close in order to brush a chaste kiss over his lips.

As she drew back, something flashed across her light eyes but it was gone before Brian could interpret the expression. She smiled again. "Maybe I should tell my mom that I met a great guy, after all."

Brian nodded. It sounded like a good deal. Hopefully she took his offer to find him in the middle of the night as reality. He was already starting to sleep in more clothes as the weather got colder, so what was the harm? Besides, it wasn't like absolutely everyone hadn't seen him shirtless before.

Something in him sparked at the chaste kiss and he returned it, but only softly before Misha pulled away. His body, for some reason, was expressing regret at that. He knew that making out wasn't the thing to do, though. At least logically he did.

"Oh, sure. I mean, it wouldn't technically be a lie. I'm pretty great."

"You're both." At his blank look of confusion, Misha giggled. "You're great and kind of pretty, too. In a manly way, of course. You're also a surprisingly bad influence." She turned her hand beneath his until their fingers tangled together. "Tsk. You want me to tell stories to my mom. That's dangerous territory, you know. She would want to meet this Great Guy and then you'd be on the hook."

"I'd pretend to be your boyfriend any time you needed," Brian said with a little laugh. Hell, people already thought they were together. The Halloween party had made that amply clear, if only for a few moments. "I'm not sure how I'm the bad influence, Little Miss Look-At-The-Sunset-It's-So-Beautiful." He only remembered that night fondly, though, and winked as he smiled. As for the comment on his appearance, he did not respond. Misha tripled his attractiveness and wore it proudly. Somehow he liked that about her.

"The sunset is always beautiful," she argued. Warmth flared in her stomach at the reference to their beach interlude, though, and she laughed. "Any time yu want to watch it again, you just let me know. Also..." She wrinkled her nose at him and mock-frowned. "Don't make offers like that or else I might just take you up on it. There's sunsets in Philly, too, you know."

"Sure," he agreed, "There's sunsets in Texas too. Ones you can watch over the lake." In the city it was mostly just things you could watch between or from atop buildings, but he imagined it might be like that in Philly too. "I've never been to Philly. Always New York City."

"Philly and New York are close enough to mean day trip fun times. I haven't forgotten, by the way, that I promised you a Broadway show." Misha gave him a thoughtful look. "You could pick one out if we go home and I could take you."

"I wouldn't know how. You'd have to pick a good one," he said and leaned his head over to kiss Misha on the head. "Some day we'll go out to the suburbs and I can show you a good sunset." Bah, lakeside sunsets. He'd like to override that damn dream with an actual memory.

He paused, then his head turned back toward the television.

"We were watching a movie, I think."

She giggled at his change of topic and gave a little squirm to better settle herself on his lap. Misha half-wondered that she stayed there but gave a mental shrug; if Brian wasn't going to chase her from her perch, she had no plans on leaving. It felt so natural to be there. He felt so good.

She brought an arm up to rest around his neck and over his shoulders. Then she tipped her head to rest against his as she turned her eyes to the movie. "It's almost over," she commented. "Do you want to pick the next one? Oh, and are you still hungry?" She laughed under her breath. "We've barely made a dent in all that pizza."

Brian shrugged. His hunger had taken a back seat to the pleasant warmth of it all. Pizza was nice, but cuddling was better. The part of him that didn't like emotional experience was strangely small and quiet as Misha snuggled into his lap.

"Cold pizza's good too. If we want to change the movie, I'll have to get up." For all it was a big shiny TV, it wasn't very high-tech. He did have cable, though. In fact, he was pretty sure he could get to Netflix on here. He leaned over to grab the remote from the table, keeping one arm wrapped around Misha's waist to keep her in place, and plopped it on her lap. "Or we could try that." He'd happily go for Pay Per View as well. What was a few bucks?

"You are a very rare man indeed, Brian Watterly." Misha picked up the remote from her lap and straightened so she could look him in the eye. "A rare and wonderful man." She held up the remote and gave it a little wiggle, a grin curving her full lips. "I can't remember the last time a guy voluntarily handed this over to me. Usually I have to wrestle it away from a guy."

Though, really, wrestling with Brian would not be the worst thing in the world, she thought.

Stifling the thought with regret, Misha turned the remote towards the television and thumbed it away from the DVD setting and over to cable channels. Then she started a lazy cycle through the channels, pausing just long enough on each one to see if Brian had a preference or not. "Are you ticklish?" she asked suddenly.

Brian gave Misha a look like he didn't believe her. He didn't think that he was very rare. Of a certain type, maybe, but not rare. It wasn't like he let just anyone get this close to him. He was an emotionally guarded individual when it came to personal relationships. At least he'd thought he was. That was what the doctor had told him forever and a half ago. In fact, he thought he was a little too quick to the uptake, but he was no shrink.

"You have to remember I have two little sisters. I've watched so much Sesame Street I could puke. Movies with Misha is hardly alike." He pointed to the screen then, and to the words at the top. "You can go to Movies, or you can go to On Demand, or Netflix. It doesn't matter to me. Netflix is sort of hit or miss sometimes." His arm remained looped around Misha's waist.
