Many people, when told by an asexual (or even someone just discussing it) what their sexuality is/about the sexuality, it is commonly dismissed!
And don't feel bad -- you're saying it as an educational bit of joking around: as an ace myself and having quite a few ace friends, we've all quoted these sorts of things ourselves in a mocking tone or to show the sort of commentary that happens. (just yeterday a friend and I both vented about some particularly nasty ones)
Knowing the crappy stuff in a setting where its being said specifically is shown to be in a negative helps educate people that it is not something cool or smart to say.
