Cat shouted her thanks to the man who had swooped in with a wooden sign as she ran past. Having heard a cry from upstairs she made her way up as quickly as her legs would carry her, hearing a crash from inside a room just down the hall. She burst into the room with her an arrow notched and ready to fire. Her eyes were drawn to the gaping hole in the window- drapery gusting wildly as metallic wings flashed through the opening to assault a middle-aged woman cowering behind a tipped desk. She drew her arrow back and released it towards the bird. The shot just glanced it, but at least its attention had been drawn away from the civilian. She shouted to the woman as she notched another arrow, "Get out of here!"

Briiva looked around for material to board up windows and doors, Wishing that she had some of her fabrication tools with her. She preferred having time to prepare, not having to improvise as she went. Still, she made do with what she could, finding a decently sized table to drag in front of an unattended window.

Sylvia moved back to break off the other legs of the table, then turned back to fill in the rest of the window edge. It took three legs, but she still had a leg and the tabletop, which could be broken down more. Once she’d finished, she heard the call for another window to be patched up, but a couple other Chosen already called a response and headed in that direction, and she figured it was taken care of.
She gathered the remains of the table she’d broken down and went in search of more needed patches. She heard scraping as she headed down a hallway and eventually turned into a room where the wall along one edge of the room was crumbling. It looked like there had been some water damage before, and she imagined that bird claws were working at it from the outside. She had the wood to patch, but nothing to secure it.
Walking back to the hallway, she called out for help, “Does anyone have some nails or something?” She then turned back to the room to look for anything she might be able to use in case no one answered.

Sidney James - Bow: Base Damage 6
Shining inwardly with her success, Sid settled back into position again and drew another arrow.
Sighting down the length of it, the birds swirled and dipped as they attack, confusing with their flapping wings and the light they reflected.
Taking a chance, she caught what she thought was a target and released, watching as the arrow clipped a wing, but barely caused a bobble in the bird's flight. A small grimace pulled at her mouth, but she shrugged it off, reaching for another arrow.

By 2pm, the HP of the hotel was raised to 212 and the birds were dealt 33 DMG. At 2pm, the Hotel took 30 points of damage.
By 3pm, the HP of the hotel was raised to 228 and the birds were dealt 50 DMG, thinning the hoard and reducing the damage it deals. At 3pm, the Hotel took 25 points of damage.
Bp 4pm, the HP of the hotel was raised to 248 and the birds were dealt a total of 72 points of damage. At 4pm, the Hotel took 25 points of damage.
By 5pm, the HP of the hotel was raised to 260 and the birds were dealt a total of 98 points of damage. At 5pm, the hotel took 25 points of damage.
By this post, the HP of the hotel was raised to 280 and the birds were dealt a total of 104 points of damage. At 6pm, the hotel will take 20 points of damage.

Tara clearly wasn't in the right frame of mind. Her arrow missed yet again and she groaned, not sure what else she could do to focus on the current battle. She took another breath, hoping to calm herself down.

Marisol saw a woman pass by with a bunch of blankets as she righted herself. There were already a few people downstairs and so she followed her upstairs, fingers gripping one of those stupid animal head trophies that had fallen off the mantle ages ago. She charged upstairs and slammed it into the nearest broken window--antlers sticking into the wood trim.

Beth frowned, hearing the need for nails. But they were not to be so lucky. Nothing she had on hand would remedy that. She saw a piece of a torn shower curtain on the floor and scooped it up, running to where she heard the shout. "No nails, but maybe we can tie this? Or stuff it into the cracks?" She shrugged, running out of ideas. But she ran up anyway and started trying to secure it as best she could. HP: 183

The woman rushed past Cat as she shot another arrow towards the bird now flying rapidly towards her. The shot missed but the bird was momentarily tangled in the drapes that had been flung loose by its entrance into the room. She was glad to see the woman make it out into the hallway and using one of the makeshift ropes she had anchored earlier to slide down to the floor below. While she was turned she shouted into the hallway, hoping another Chosen could hear her, "I could use some help in here!" She notched another arrow and steadied herself for what might come next.

Looking around, Rob saw a number of Chosen working at reinforcing the hotel's lower level… but what about upstairs? He charged for the stairs to the second floor and thundered up as fast as he could, greatsword thumping against his back as he ran. Once he hit the landing, he peered down the hall. There were a few people up here shoving whatever they could find into gaps in their defenses. He then heard a woman shout "I could use some help in here!" further down the hall. Running to where he heard the shout, he saw a Chosen -- the same woman, he thought, who had called for reinforcements downstairs. And a bird. Unsheathing his sword, he swung at the bird and missed completely. "s**t!" he swore. Some help he was. 4 + 0 = 4 damage

Briiva took a breather after hauling the table to the window, resting against the wall, looking for other things that could be pushed in front of windows or against doors. Everyone was already scrambling, which left the picking slim. Frowning, Briiva quickly ran by the previously fortified windows, pushing the items back into place to make sure everything stayed in position.

"I think the call for nails was over there?" Marisol pointed towards Sylvia. "Tying this deer head down won't hurt though." That said, she began to rummage around and while there weren't any magically appearing brand new boxes of nails, she could see old nails in the walls. Remembering the hammers she'd seen what felt like years ago, she rushed to collect them and then handed them to the two women. "If I pull these out, you two can hammer them in," she told them, rushing to yank the nails out of the wall and passing them on. 191

The onslaught was constant. Luckily, the Chosen seemed to be a pretty balanced group of people. Those who knew how to fight were fighting. Those who felt more comfortable bunkering down were... bunkering up, as it were.
He didn't see Misha approaching in the way anyone might not, considering the birds aiming for their vital organs. He did see her as she passed, though. He saw the worry on her face, and somehow it didn't seem to be coming from the birds.
Something in him softened then.
Whether it had been his opinion or not, the orders had been to stay at the base and fight. So he would. He had to. Building grudges against others wasn't helping anyone bring down the bird-count. There were others who were just as disappointed, and hopefully now just as determined.
"Keep it up!" he shouted into the wild shrieking and clattering, "We can do this!" He fired again, once more striking home.

Seeing so many people missing, hearing all the frustrated noises from the other chosen, Sidney set her jaw.
Drawing her arrow back, she sighted carefully, waiting for just the right moment to release... And the arrow flew with force and accuracy to knock another bird from the sky. Sid pumped her fist before she reached eagerly for a new arrow.
