The grunts went silent, still staring forward at the blonde and his ragtag team of pokemon with some unconscious and others close to sharing the same fate. For a moment, it might’ve seem that they were taken aback by the comments, wondering if the man was posturing like so many others had most likely done. After all, he couldn’t be the only one telling them that they were wrong for what they were doing.
But in reality… they just didn’t understand him. That accent of his and that knack for slang was slipping in something fierce as the situation became more against them. Whatever he was trying to communicate was well… quickly lost in translation it seemed.

”Your speech is truly appalling you know.” The lead grunt remarked, others fanning out once more to continue their onslaught. Lafayette’s gaze narrowed further, a scowl crossing his face. Well the man was certainly not beyond insulting him, was he? The Plasma grunt seemed to be losing his previous discomfort over the truth about Lafayette and was growing more confident in his ability to handle the former team mate. Evidently all it took was knocking a majority of his pokemon down to get him to that point of superiority.
And that smug look of his was all that Lafayette needed to jump into action. If this fool thought that his pokemon were the only ones who could or would fight, then he was clearly mistaken. The blonde had all but launched himself forward in the fray, snagging the nearest grunt he could and promptly delivering a fierce head slam to the man. The soldier didn’t really have time to so much as yelp as he promptly crumpled to the ground and Lafayette’s feet, the blonde’s eyes already locking onto the next available grunt in grabbing distance. For a moment, in a panic the grunts retaliated back, one rushing and attempting a punch in retaliation. The blonde pretty much saw it coming, promptly ducking back and out of the way before slugging the grunt with a punch of his own straight to their face. As that grunt crippled down clutching his face as well, he turned his attention the leader of the group. Who was the superior force now?

- Another couple of grunts attempted to actually attack Lafayette only to go down with some rather strong handling. This man had worked the rails and it showed in this moment. Soon the grunts were about ready to try and dog pile before the leader all but screamed at them.
”Stop it you fools!” The grunts hesitated and even Lafayette found himself looking up curiously as the man spoke. It was certainly not what he expected to hear, but judging by the agitation etched across his face, this was clearly not how he wanted things to go down. Which was a shame because the blonde was more than willing to bash a few skulls at this point. The plasma leader pointed in Lafayette’s direction, gaze swiveling around between the remaining grunts.
”Stop disgracing Lord Zinzolin with this insolence! This fool is a monster and a traitor, don’t sink to his level!” Lafayette quirked an eyebrow. Always with the monster talk. It was grating on his nerves slowly, though it didn’t show. The other grunts seemed to understand what was being said though, falling back and reaching once more for pokeballs. Great. It was one thing fighting grunts, another to fight pokemon. He scowled a bit as Liepard was called forth, slamming a fist into the other of his hands. Well then… he’d just deal with it. Though before he could put himself out there as a combatant, Ori appeared from his ball. He’d sensed all the commotion and felt it was necessary to get involved. He stared down the cat pokemon in question, ears wiggling and tail up in his own challenge. The opponent did seem to hesitate in surprise at the appearance before quickly flying forward to do battle…
Battle Summary
Plasma Grunt sent out Liepard! (210 HP; Limber; Torment, Pursuit, Fury Swipes, Sand Attack)

While Apollo prepared himself to join the fray, and tried to convince Cyrus to join him in the process, and Beau got the male's pokemon battle-ready, Mona found her attention drawn towards the various games settled together in a small section of the tourney fields, all but forgotten. She'd seen the same types of games back at the main entrance, and now her interest was piqued. Though true her priorities should've lied with her trainer and the 'ruffians' he was about to willingly approach, the riolu managed to convince herself that Apollo would be fine. He had more than enough, strong, pokemon to back him up, plus that friend of his! She doubted she'd be needed back-up, like she had last time, and she wasn't ready to go back inside of her pokeball, and she certainly wasn't willing to simply stand around. So that just left trying a game or two. It'd be quick... she wouldn't even be gone long enough for Apollo to notice.

Having decided that, yes, she most definitely needed to make at least one round of the games, Mona stealthily tiptoed away from her group. When she believed herself in the clear she made a beeline for the games and began to play the first game she got to, which just so happened to be the bean bag toss. Little did she know that Beau, and Apollo-- for once, were very much aware of Mona's 'disappearance', but neither felt the need to call her back to the group. She was determined to have a little bit of fun, despite the intrusion of Team Plasma, and she was strong enough to handle herself; though there was certainly no harm in keeping an eye out for her, and check in on the riolu every so often.

During the whole Plasma explanation and Mona's stage-left exit, Sylvia simply... stewed. Though she kept it hidden from all, save Beau... but it was impossible to hide emotion from the Emotion Pokémon, after hearing Beau explain what had really happened to him she couldn't but become aggravated, not just at the fact that he'd lied to her, but because well... because some humans had the nerve to just butt their heads into the business of other trainers and their pokemon! These were the same clowns that she and Beau had laughed at earlier during their intercom announcements, but now instead of leaving that choice up to trainers they were just simply forcing their ideals onto them. It was infuriating! Now, granted, Sylvia didn't few herself as an 'ideologist' or even close to a philosopher-- she was just a simple pokemon who'd spent a majority of her days stuck in a lab. But she was, relatively, intelligent and held her own opinions and standpoints; and what these stupidly-dressed humans were doing went against a good majority of them.
For once holding herself back from simply charging in, to what would surely be a heap of battles, Sylvia chose to observe.. for now at least. There was an update with the grunts and the blonde knight, for now at least they'd stopped using pokemon to battle for them and taken to fighting themselves. Sylvia could appreciate that, and it certainly took her back to yesterday... when she herself still had hands.... Beyond the slight impressment it was rather easy to tell that, despite the disadvantage the blonde held, he was still carrying his own weight, easily beating down grunt after grunt. Man, was that impressive! But.. it certainly didn't help her with trying to contain her own desire to start knocking heads. With an irritated sigh Sylvia turned back around, this time settling in on glaring at Cyrus, the only obstacle in her way at this point. He could either join in with her trainer, or step to the side, there was no use in debating this any longer!

After collecting her tokens from her last game Mona took the time to step back and take a breather, give herself to reflect on her actions so far. To start, she'd definitely exceeded just 'one round' of games, but at the very least not much had happened with Apollo and the others so she wasn't too worried about that. What she was worried about, however, were her attempts thus far at the various games available to her. From what she could tell, she wasn't doing too hot, which was a bit frustrating. But, it certainly gave her a goal to work towards! She just wouldn't stop until she got good at at least... half the games here.

Mona drew in a sharp breath, honing in her skills, and then turned slowly on her heel to look at the last few games at her disposal. She'd do it! She'd get better at these games, she just needed practice! With slow release of breath the riolu began to stroll calmly towards the crossbow game. Granted, she'd never even held a bow before, not counting her first try at the game, but she was confident she would be able to get the hang of it with enough tries. Who needed years of practice and proper technique and posture, psssh-- not her! Definitely not.

Cyrus entered the area with Apollo, still mildly irritated at the presence of the gardevoir. When they finally came to a stop, the psychic type spoke up, broadcasting his telepathy. Cyrus toned the gardevoir out for the most part, looking around. There was some team plasma grunts hassling another blond male that seemed kind of familiar. The Egyptian's eyes tore away from the scene to look back to Apollo and Beau. It seemed like they were intent on helping out. The dark skinned male crossed his arms over his chest, frowning a bit. "Those are Team Plasma grunts." he stated. It'd look bad to Apollo if he didn't join in helping. But it also looked bad if word got back to a sage or even Ghetsis. However, thinking on it, Team Plasma was weird in the first place. And were rather inconsistent in business schemes. He'd have to give an answer soon, since Sylvia seemed to be staring him down intensely. What the heck was up with that damn snake?
Cyrus sighed internally, deciding it shouldn't hurt too much to battle with Apollo against the grunts. He just hoped the guy that they were helping didn't recognize him from anywhere. "Of course. Let's go." the dark skinned male said, releasing Sinbad from his ball. The lion stretched, and seemed happy to see Apollo. However, a rather amused expression crossed the cat's face when he looked at his trainer. Cyrus frowned, but it was short lived as he followed Apollo over to the other male that was being hassled. == Bandit sniffed at the strange pastry that they had stolen to eat. It smelled really sweet, and tickled her nose a bit. She bit down on it, interested in the flavor. It wasn't what she preferred, but she was more hungry than picky about it. Licking her claws, her ears perked as Kezia spoke once more. "Yeah. My pack was a rather independent lot. 'suppose we just grew apart all-together over the years." she responded. She rather liked being a loner. The wild fox listened as Kezia talked family. Thinking on it, she didn't really feel she herself had anything remarkable to mention about her family. It's been quite some time since she'd seen any of them, anyways.

And just like the others, Ori was now down for the count. Or not really but he was hurt and that just meant one more potential casualty on Lafayette’s team. He had to give the Shinx props; as opposed to trying out do his opponent with reckless attacks, he’d taken a moment to power himself enough to hand out a sizeable chunk of damage in a single blow. This one was a smart one, a thinker. Lafayette could respect that. Unfortunately, even that strength wasn’t enough to stand fully against the Liepard. But he’d tried and that was what counted.

At this point, there weren’t many options left for Lafayette to take. He could continue fighting grunts who seemed to have a rather healthy surprise of hypocritically owned pokemon, knocking his own team out in the process or he could turn tail and run like a Mightyena with his tail between his legs. That first option was a stretch, that second option…wasn’t an option. Actually, he didn’t even think of that as an idea. He needed to heal sure, but there was no way in hell he would allow these fools to see him turn tail and run. He’d eat dirt first. Which really left only one choice. Which was to continue fighting on his own. He could do that.

And that was exactly what he did. Without giving them a moment to consider the situation, he rushed forward again to start knocking grunts in their heads, gesturing for Micah to keep the rest of his team behind just in case. Really, it was a reckless act but Lafayette was not one to back down when things got difficult. And if anything, the smug attitude of the leader of this pile of misfits continued to taunt him about being a traitor and a monster, neither of which the blonde took kindly too.
Unfortunately, the grunts seemed to be on their guard this time around and opposed to letting themselves bear the brunt of Lafayette’s attacks, summoned forth several pokemon to serve as a wall between themselves and the rampaging Aussie. Tch, well that was a bit of a bugger. Lafayette came to a halt as the Scrafty came flying at him in a fierce kick, side stepping to lessen the blow before snatching the thing by its leg and slamming it down into the ground beside him. Out of armor, that probably would’ve been a lot more painful but it seemed the pokemon was willing to reduce the power of its attacks against a human. It’s mistake.
It was long though before another showed up, some strange looking gothic child pokemon. It was a bit unnerving to look at actually, a fact that caused Lafayette to hesitate and costed him. The pokemon took advantage of the pause, summoning up a strong force of psychic energy and slamming Lafayette away in a surprising surge of energy. He grunted as he smashed into the ground, momentarily shocked from the attack. That was certainly not what he’d expected… and yet was it really any surprise?

Apollo looked from Cyrus to the group of people when he explained that the oddly-dressed people were actually Plasma grunts, the first words the male had spoken since they'd arrived. "That's Team Plasma?" he asked, dubious. Being a Unova-native he'd, of course, heard of the infamous pokemon extremist, in news articles and media reports, and he was well aware of their objectives and the fact that they were the 'the end justifies the means' kind of people. But he'd never seen them, or their emblem, in person before today. With a soft exhale of breath the bright-haired male made certain to stare at the grunts, burning their image into his mind, before he turned back to look at Cyrus expectantly. Unaware of Sylvia's unabashed staring at his friend he waited for his reply, his rigid body language practically screaming his impatience; though he hadn't actually looked to check back in, he could still hear the fact that an increase in activity had occurred.
A, large, grin blossomed across the male's expression when Cyrus agreed to join him and released Sinbad. Though pleased to see the Pyroar from his childhood Apollo held back from reminiscing, and from being too thrilled over the fact that Cyrus would be joining him. Even if he could have held his own, for a few rounds or two, it was comforting to know that the cream-haired male would be joining in. With a nod and a quick look of appreciation Apollo turned around and began to stroll confidently towards the group, taking in the new developments that had come to pass with each step. Between the usual pokemon battle and the physical fight between the blonde and the grunts, somehow things had de-evolved to the point that now the knight was fighting the grunt's pokemon. To his credit the man was able to hold his own... for a few seconds, and Apollo winced as the man was sent flying back by a Gothorita.
"Is this how Team Plasma operates now?" Apollo called out, gaining the attention of a few of the grunts. "Forcing their pokemon to fight people? It makes you wonder just why the media paints you all as violent criminals." He stopped beside Lafayette, offering him a small smile and a hand to help him up. "You didn't break anything, did you?" he asked quietly, Beau peering down at the male curiously. "You watch your tongue!" One grunt shouted, anger welling up in his overly righteous tone; he'd hit a nerve, had he? "This doesn't even concern you!" Apollo spared the man a glance his smile, though considerably dimmed, still visible. "Sure it does," he insisted then watched, from the corner of his eye, as another grunt enlarged a pokeball and released a pokemon wrapped in, what he could only figure was, several gray layers of cloth. "What kind of king would I be if I allowed my people to suffer through such hypocrisy and blatant bullying?" In response to the appearance of the Accelgor the musician sent out Eris, the Disaster Pokémon taking a moment to survey the scene around her before she stepped up to confront her opponent. "Not a good one, I'd say."
"Cut the act!" One grunt shouted, the same one who'd released the Accelgor, "this isn't a fairy tale! This is real life!" Apollo didn't immediately response, instead taking the time to look out at the battle before a smirk flitted onto his lips. "Of course it isn't." Apollo stifled a chuckle as Eris strutted back towards him, unharmed, leaving in her wake an unconscious Accelgor. Was it him, or did she suddenly look stronger? "If it were, I'd have more of a challenge. People lose interest in the stories where the antagonists don't provide some sort of difficulty for the dashing protagonist."

Feeling a bit more confident than usual Apollo stared out calmly at the shifting expressions of the grunts, the corner of his mouth pulled down firmly to suppress his grin. Fighting a group of people that had already shown off that they were some clear threat was... exciting? Unlike fighting with other trainers and gym leaders these lot were crooked, and didn't take too kindly to losing-- as they'd shown with Lafayette. The man wasn't exactly a pursuer of justice, but.. well, damn.. it felt good to put someone in their place! Careful not to allow that sort of exhilaration to his head Apollo raised an eyebrow in soft expectation to the grunt who'd originally sent out a pokemon to fight him, clearly waiting for him to recall the unconscious one and release another-- he didn't take them as the sort to give up easily. He was obliged, the part of the man's face that could be seen turning a dark red before he sent out another pokemon, a Watchog this time.
Just like before Eris was the one who stepped out to take the pokemon on, much to Sylvia's obvious chagrin; she wanted to battle too! But.. she knew how important it was for other teammates to try and gain some strength and so she'd hold back... for now. Apollo gave Eris the liberty to decide just exactly what move she wanted to use, surely Plasma could appreciate this independence, before he turned back to look back at the man he and Cy had 'saved'. These grunts didn't have the strongest pokemon on them and relied on the fact that they were several of them, Apollo would just have to be careful about using the same pokemon over and over again, and heal those who needed it whenever possible.
Speaking of healing, while Apollo went on about antagonizing the grunts--which really wasn't a wise decision--Beau took it upon himself to look over Lafayette's pokemon. All of them were in poor condition, with one even fainted and another battling with poison. Beau shook his head before he gave a rather heavy sigh. Just wasn't this a sight? Beau turned his attention to Lafayette, looking the man over, before he gave another shake of the head; so not only were his pokemon injured, but he was too? Good Arceus. "Sir," the mega pokemon directed his telepathy directly to the blonde, his gaze soon following. "If you'd like, I could heal your companions. I don't imagine any of them are in any condition to continue fighting."

Despite the fact that she'd, so far, gone against two pokemon without a reprieve Eris still stood strong, her steely gaze unwavering and settled solely on the grunt that continued to send poekmon out against her. Not a wise decision, what with how each battle had ended so far, but perhaps his aim was to tire her out with several pokemon at once? If that was the case the man was failing to do just that, his reaction to having each of his pokemon battered back was slowed considerably by his anger-- if she really wanted to she could easily switch out with another teammate and focus on getting healed. She wouldn't do that though, not yet at least, she wanted to get stronger, and at the moment this was her best option to do just that.
