Babylon Knight of Mercury

Babylon stepped forward as well, following those who'd already made their intentions clear. "I'll also take some of this burden," he said. He was transcendent, he thought, and so it likely posed no risk to him - and even if it might cloud his own judgment, it would make the Code's clear... and then he could find out if it truly desired Caedus dead.

He'd been wise to wait, even if it had been an accident.

"We failed you before," he added. "This is the least we can do to begin to make up for that."

Hy-Brasil, page of Earth

Hy watched as Camelot moved to purify the code after the consensus was for the attempt. She didn't really know what to expect since she'd never witnessed a purification before so she watched, fascinated. It sticky became apparent though that this purification was probably not normal as the code spoke to them.

Kicking hey lips, Hy glanced at the others. Some were already making their decision and truthfully, she saw no reason not to help as well. After all, if they could save the code piece it would be best for them all, right? "I'll accept, too. " She said finally.

Surprised to see Hyperborea turn up, she had not been here just a few minutes ago, the squire of Polaris motioned the other to take a seat next to her as she noted the sling. "Tell me what happened to you later." The request was made in a whisper. A look to Camelot, as he turned down her offer, she focused on explaining things to Hyperborea then.

"It seems we've been called here to help with the piece of the code saved, by Kaitaros, from the Negaverse. it's tainted, it's why some of our wonders were acting off - or rather the code piece there was. This piece affected our pieces. So now we are trying to figure out what to do. Purify it and purge the chaos from it, or as some suggested - bring it to Olympus to the piece there. I don't like the idea of bringing it out of here, if it's affected our pieces from where it was...it could spread if we bring it in to contact with our wonders piece." She said keeping her voice down but still informing the other, and giving her own thoughts on the matter.

"I think the best idea is trying ti purify it. If that doesn't work we go from there."

When Camelot told them to get back she stood, rather quickly but gracefully, and took a few steps back. A glance about to everyone else to see what they thought about this attempt. "If this fails...perhaps it won't be a total failure...maybe it'll clear away some of the taint. Even a little bit is some progress." She didn't think so much taint could be so easily removed, and even if she did it didn't matter, if only a little was removed it would be something. She just hoped this didn't hurt anyone, but they had to try.

When the code spoke up again she found herself wanting to stamp a foot on the ground. "We failed? How can we fail when we weren't around - when no knight was around? Or are we missing something. Were there knights around who could have prevented this? What was corrupting you while we were gone? When there were no Negaverse officers? How did it happen when this war...was on a hiatus of sorts?" She questioned, pale eyes locked onto the piece of the code as she sought answers- whatever answers it could provide.

The wind which hit them blew her hair about and tugged, yanked, at her clothing and the than came the voice. A whisper but one with a message - with a solution. It was the only way and the voice..it didn't seem tainted like the voice she'd previously heard from the code. It didn't sound like it had moments before or like it had at her wonder. No, this was the code itself speaking and telling them how to help it. It wanted help.

"I'll accept it - to help." She said speaking aloud in answer to what the code was saying, to the offer. She'd take a bit of chaos, if she could filter it out of herself, in order to help the code. It wouldn't be a permanent thing for her so why not? It was what was right - what would help. "But I don't need to be forgiven for what I did not do." She added in, not at all pleased with some of the code's words. "I'll help because it's the right thing to do." Not because she had done something wrong and needed forgiveness.

As his English wasn't the best Venice had been silent the whole time. Standing next to Erebus he'd let the other explain things, in smaller words and at a slower pace, for him so he could better understand just what was going on. It meant that he was a bit behind the conversation, as everything had to be made easier for him by Erebus, but it helped and he understood what was going on.

Watching, now that the translation of everything was over, he watched as Camelot went to try and purify the code but it failed. In fact the code had a solution to it's crisis, or perhaps illness was a better term? As the wind tugged and pulled at his uniform and messed up his hair he heard a voice inside of him. He had been surprised, and it registered on his face, when he understood it. He knew what was being said just like everyone else in the room from the reactions others were having, from their responses. There was no need for translation and nothing lost on him as the page of Ganymede glanced to the piece of the code which sought their help - the only help it could get.

How this would affect him wasn't thought about in that moment as he moved away from Erebus, giving the other a light smile as he did so. Watching as others offered to take on the burden his dark eyes sought out another familiar face, Kaitaros. His dark gaze than drifted to the piece of the code as he reached the table in the center of the room. "I will too take some of the chaos."

All she's done this whole time was stand in a corner and listen to everyone. It was a learning experience but it also had her wanting to jump in and shout at points. There was chaos in the code, whatever that was, and they needed to remove it. If, as others said, it was affecting other pieces of the code why the hell would they want to bring this infected piece closer to other pieces? So it could make s**t worse? She had wanted to speak up about it but refrained from doing so, a first for her, as she lacked knowledge in this area and with such a serious matter being discussed her lack of knowledge, and jumping into s**t, would not help them at all.

So she had settled for watching and going between tapping a foot on the ground to toying with her shorter hair to tapping one hand against the opposing arm. Anything to get out some of the energy thrumming through her.

Watching as an attempt was to be made, after this tainted piece of the code had already spoken to them, she heard it again and it sounded different. What was odder, and surprising, was when it spoke inside of her. She wanted to shout at it not to do that, to give some warning first, but the message was more important as she could do something - finally!

She could help and they could end this meeting and help the code and solve the problem. It wasn't an easy solution but it was the only solution and it would get the job done. That was enough for her to move forward toward the piece of the code. "I'm in." She said without a thought to what the consequences could be, then again did she ever think of such things? Of one asked either of her cousins they'd likely say no. They'd also likely say that she tended to jump right into things without asking questions, without thought, and often without consideration for others. It was, of course, all true.

Erebus had been content to let the others argue back and forth about the code and what they were going to do about it. He was all for trying to purify it of course but he had figured it wouldn't make a difference if yet another voice jumped in and he would much rather help keep Venice in the loop then dive head first into the arguing.

When Camelot had shown up he had paused briefly in his translations so he could study the man, having never seen him before and only hear about him. He didn't stay looking at him long and was quick to pick up translating again of course. By the time he was caught up Camelot was trying to purify the Code and he waited in anticipation only to be at first disappointed that it didn't work. However the disappointment quickly disappeared when a solution to the problem was given. He looked over to Venice with a surprised look on his face, seeing the other just as shocked as he was but was recovering quickly.

He was unsurprised that the other moved to accept the bit of chaos and gave a small smile back, spotting Kairatos volunteering just before Venice out of the corner of his eye. He then took a breath and stepped forward as well. "If it will help make things right again then I'm willing to take some as well."

To Andronicus, it was the only option that made sense. She hadn't offered it - everyone was so hell bent on purging the Chaos, she didn't want to bring a bullseye to her head for suggesting it - but the thought had crossed her mind. More of a... experiment, really.

"I'll do it." As if there was any question. It was a small price to pay for what she wanted, what the Code wanted. Andronicus would never trust the Code fully, but if this didn't kill her or corrupt her maybe she'd be a bit more amenable to it.

Maybe.

Chris Gallo

Chris lifted his arms to shield his face as the gust of wind, placing a hand against his chest as a strange pressure seemed to bubble up inside him. He was afraid something like this might have happened. Too many were too close. Thankfully, the reaction wasn’t as violent as it was ominous, and he was glad that no one was injured in the process. At least not physically. Not yet at least.

His own heart (starseed?) throbbed painfully as he heard the words spoken in his head by the Code. Just as he thought, it wasn’t something that had given up. It wanted to be saved, but there was only so much that they could do.

And what could he do, when he was barely functional as it was…?

“I’ll accept, if you’ll have me,” he said softly without a second thought, without wondering what it could possibly do to him to have a piece of Chaos inside him.

For all he knew, he was dying anyway.

Slievenamon, Squire of Neptune

Slievenamon held her breath when the crystal sword touched the Code piece and a sweep of energy fluttered her coattails to the air. It was disappointing to know that purification wouldn't be than easy, but then the Code went on to speak of a simply wondrous—for each and every one of them there to take a piece of the Chaos in them.

Biting her bottom lip, the squire appeared pensive and unsure of her decision, but she had made it the moment the Code asked this request of them. In actuality, she was trying to hide her desire to smile. Once, just once did Slievenamon want to experience Chaos without corrupting. This moment was made for her.

As gently as she could behind her inside shivering in excitement, Slievenamon said, "I, too... I will also take a piece of Chaos in me. Anything to help the Code."

Odainsaker had stayed quite and listened since she'd been there but the whispering in the back of her mind. The fact the code needed help. She nodded softly before looking towards the code. "I'll also volunteer as tribute. I will talk a piece of this Chaos if it helps."

The cosmos knight in the back of her mind felt nervous about this. She wasn't sure how to handle such a thing. Though, surely the code wouldn't lead them astray if it was trying this hard to fight the chaos inside of it. Right?

Aokigahara grit his teeth. He wanted to still be angry, but he knew that was stupid and childish. Besides, here it was - exactly the alternate solution he had requested. So he looked at it from another angle - the Code had a duty to them, in a way, to power their Wonders and their magic, and in that way they had a reciprocal duty to it. To protect it, to serve it.

In this case, to cleanse it.

They were Knights, and this was their Knightly purpose. So he extended his hand, focused on the glowing light of the Code, and bit the inside of his cheek. Surely it could not be too dangerous - not with so many.

"I will take part of your Chaos, as well," he said, and his voice was firm and certain. This was what he had to do, and he would do it.

Chauvet Page of Cosmos

Chauvet did not like her mind being touched by otherworldly forces. Chauvet really did not like her mind being touched by otherworldly forces.

The page had turned to watch when the galaxy-king (Camelot? She'd heard Camelot from someone in the crowd) start to anoint the strangely swirling mass of light, only for it to lash out in angry defiance. The wisps of wind trailed against her arms, unwelcome and invasive, and she shivered when it felt like there were dark whispers at the nape of her neck. She hadn't noticed it herself, but in her utter discomfort she'd leaned in towards Emrys, as if the ocean-clad squire could save her from the oncoming storm.

It seemed like a ridiculous proposal, to accept 'chaos' or whatever that dark matter was, but people seemed to be lining up for the trap that to Chauvet seemed laughably obvious. "Are you serious right now?" she piped up with a wave of her hand, staring hard at the general assembly. "Does nobody else get really bad vibes from this? Like, I'm all for healing the sick or whatever, but this seems like some serious bad juju."

She glanced back to Emrys, who she'd already decided to be suitably in need of protection, and then back towards the Code, which continued to flicker ominously with wisps of inky darkness. "I'm just saying, it could be lying to us to make us sick too. It could be, like...Patient Zero or something." Everyone else had at least managed the decorum to stay eloquent in their assent for the strange star disease, but Chauvet was having none of it. She wasn't like these knights, she was just a journalism student in a fancy dress, and staring at the Code too long left a metallic taste in her mouth that made her nervous. If she'd truly been called here for a reason other than to gawk, then maybe it was to keep these people from making what she saw quite easily as a bad decision.

Celliwig, Page of Earth

Her lips were pursed together as she stared at the Code, fondling the end of her braid before letting it go as she stepped forward.

"Y'know... I-I've seen this episode of Teen Wolf. Thousand year old evil spirit says it can't be defeated-- Done in by a bunch of kids. If that's what kids can do, mostly without super powers," she was going to ignore the whole turning into a wolf during a full moon thing for now, "just imagine what we can do with them. I-I'll do it--"

And then, beneath her breath, Celliwig muttered, "for the Grey Wardens." They had taken darkness into them and survived. She could too.

Emrys Squire of Neptune

Emrys had had a moment's respite, but it was short lived. The Code was unbelievably intimidating, even more so after it spoke, and he shrank back against Celsus and the redheaded page beside him, clutching his staff with white knuckled fingers beneath the gloves.

He didn't like this. He didn't like that it was telling them to take on its Chaos, and liked even less that his brother had stepped forward, the warning look in his eyes clearly indicative of a desire not to have Emrys take some. Celsus was already at his exhaustion's end; Emrys was relatively certain that taking on anything more would be a very, very bad idea.

"Er - " he started, but the words stuck in his throat. He glanced sideways at the redheaded page - whose name still escaped him - and bit his lip, holding his staff against his chest and praying that this was, in fact, not what she was saying.

He did not want Chaos in him ever again, even if he couldn't remember how it had been.

"This...this seems very bad," he whispered to her, shifting his feet uneasily. "What if this is all a trap and those who take on the Chaos are stuck with it permanently? What if it's just a big ruse to make us all agents of the Negaverse or - or something?"

Gwales Page of Pluto

Gwales wasn't sure what to do. Horrified by the sound of Chaos in the Code's voice, she could only listen as alternate solutions were offered by the other Knights gathered there. She still believed trying to purify the Code was the only way.

Until Camelot touched it with his crystalline sword, and a sharp, strong gust of air blasted into all of them, making her gasp. Frozen in place as the wind pushed against her, she heard in the back of her mind a pleading, broken voice… and a solution. Accept a piece of the Chaos that infested the Code.

But what would be the cost, the consequence of doing this? Would whoever did this be corrupted? Gwales desperately wanted to help… but was the risk too great?

"I'll do it too," she found herself saying softly as she watched the Chaos swirling where the tip of Camelot's sword touched the Code. It was too important to them -- something needed to be done. If it meant making the ultimate sacrifice, so be it.
